Loved this cartoon as a kid, but in retrospect I wonder if the animation studio actually played any of these games or just glanced at the instruction manuals. None of the characters are anything like their VG counterparts, even in appearance for the most part.

Many '80's cartoons were cheesy, but in a way those that did not grow up in the 1980's with these cartoons probably can't understand, a lot was lost, at least in my opinion, when that cheese factor was taken away. Shows like this, which to at least this kid from the '80's was just a lot of fun to watch, would never get made today and sure they might have messed up the characters but that was part of the fun.

Thanks for sharing this one, brought back some good memories of Saturday mornings.

Also this show may have been cheesy but the comic was certainly something worth mentioning. Back in 91 they had a run of Mario comics with double features, captain n being one of them and let me tell you this: IT WAS DARK!! I'm not kidding I mean it was the dark age of comics and so ultra violence was in. As a result editors mandated that writers killed off characters and boy did they ever. Let's just say King Hippos death will have you ROFLin for hours.
