  • Any idea how I can contact this guy for some lessons? I can't find a website of his or anything.

  • @OpulenceOfKnowledge coming soon alexhutchingsdotcom you can sign up there

  • @lauriemonk Great, just signed up. Thanks Laurie!

  • les paul's black box? lolol alex is great!

  • fusion players quite often play more like scale exercises or licks and have straightforward rock phrasing. not mr. Hutchings. we could give this man an archtop, a polytone amp or something of this sort, tell him to play all the things you are, and he would do an amazing job, i'm pretty sure about that... he's just got it all.

  • Once you say that music is just what came from inside of one, you MUST figure out that Alex Hutchings have some amazing things to let out. Incredible player. Every one of his phrases feels right and intense. Can't get tired of his music, never. Truthful thumbs up!

  • any one no chords in first part and funk part

  • this guy doesn't improvise, he knows exactly what he's doing every single moment

  • Everytime he improvises im just here waiting for him to play those little gambale 4th sweeps.

  • Hes stunning. So in tune with his instrument. What kind of fuckwit could ever hit dislike on this! Amazing Player!

  • Hahaha, I always think to the gear video with Richie Kotzen where he says he can't enjoy stuff played by people with their guitar up high because he can't take them serious. Makes me laugh, and Richie can play the shit out of his guitar haha.

  • @Quikfingers richie's great, alex is in a whole new level!

  • Jizzed..

  • wow his guitar is high

  • @jossrules123456789 like his guitar playing... high guitar, high quality guitar playing :)

  • @jossrules123456789 That's how I wear mine...Even my big 335....I look like a tw@ but I find it loads easier to play

  • @jossrules123456789 - Makes it easier to unzip when he wants to take a slash.

  • Hey when alex stop playing at 3:40 you can hear in the background Robert Marcello playing¡¡¡ :D

  • hutchings is a very skillfull guitarist.. very nice jazz/rock fusion :)

juz wondering.. wat guitar does he use in this vid? i mean i knw its a musicman axis supersport.. but exactly which one, i do not knw.. any idea? thnx :)

  • is he a brit? He's really phhenomenal with the his playing. never had a dull moment waching him

  • @diminished11 Yes, lives just down the road from me! One of the most amazing of the new generation of players!

  • @lauriemonk

Living down the road from Alex must be like living next to Jesus Christ

  • Absolutely Amazing Playing.

  • Comments concerning his guitar height show how the world puts image above skill. I agree it would look a bit silly if he were to fill in with a punk or metal band... but he doesn't.

  • Top Notch!! One of the best guitar players of our time!! Mad props to Alex!!! Love this guy in guitar!!!

  • Alex you are wonderful...

  • He is the Boss.

  • That loop thing is just so fucking awesome. Just like the guy.

  • He's my newly found guitar hero!!!

  • The guitar is to high. Lokks very gay Oo

  • He reminds me of Zed from Police Academy. Amazing player!

  • such a great guitarist.....

  • Alex is like the perfect hybrid between G.Benson, B.Lagrene, F.Gambale and much more, without beeing trapped in one specific style. He also got "built-in" musicality and great sensitivity. A real amazing musician here ! Love his music.

  • he's one of my new line of fave guitar players, along with Muris Varajic.. and btw, it's always better playing in high position.. i know it's kinda lame but indeed very effective..

  • The melody from 5:44 - 5:50 is so emotional / good

  • great playing although he wears the guitar as a papigion :P

  • I like the part where he gives me an orgasm with his playing

  • mad skills

  • he's using the boss-br600 recording studio behind him , i have that , its amazing!

and alex is just 1 phenomenal player and his improvising kicks ass , him guthrie and joe are the best players to walk this earth

  • Putz ... Como toca bem ...

  • FANTASTIC ! 5*****STARS

  • this guy has amazing improvisation skills

  • How in the hell can he play with the guitar so close to his chin and his hair so static? Seriously, it doesn't move at all! Anyway, it sounds brilliant.

  • Because it's much easier and fluid to play a guitar that's in a higher, tight position, than slinging it down like and idiot and not being able to play shit lol.

  • LOL Seeing him from the side, he's kinda handsome. xD

  • He is sooo good, deserves to be a LOT more well known. Cant wait for him to do an album.

  • I worship him!!!!!

  • the bit at 6:11 is awesome!

  • Really good guitar player.

  • will he ever have a cd?

  • I heard gambale licks :) awesomee guitar player

  • Good guitarist :) And a amazing machine! The me-70 is great :)

  • wow....

    1:16...!!

    I love that !!

  • wow just wow, he can jump in and out of any genres, name it and you'll have what you're lookin for with this guy. SimplyAMAZING

  • Wow...he sound like a mix of Shawn Lane, Joe Satriani and Vinnie Moore in this demonstration!! I love it! Amazing tone!

  • this guy is excellent WIN, seems like a joker too.

  • Yes I loved him. Very approachable and down to earth. He knows his stuff inside out. He has a super smooth sound. I really regret missing gigs in my local area when he was playing... but I guess that's life. I would love to get a CD of this stuff... I'll let you know if I find one!

  • Please do, that would be great. It's true, is sound is super creamy, someone told me he uses 8's?

  • Rotosound 8s to be exact :)

  • he plays in a band called Kams Palace. . . so thats the cd youd be looking for

  • man...wished i cou;d play like that!!

  • I would like to play like that too!

  • He is so crazy...but I really enjoy that! He is also so versatile...

  • I totally agree, but he is under exposed right now. He needs some more viral video coverage.

  • def

  • Alex is awesome!

  • he's a fusion dude! It gives you good access to the neck and for those wide interval licks ala Shawn Lane!

  • i just notice that in the jazz chords, he used some similar phrasing from summer of love song

  • very great guitar player

  • I love that song he plays at 4:30 soo much it's beautiful and awesome playing all around.

  • The man can play!

  • Alex Hutching's makes me smile inside.

  • what chords did he play in the beginning??? please help somebody...

  • Just a standard ii V I VI (the VI can also be thought of as a V of ii) progression in Eb, in this case Fmin7 (Fmi7add9) Bb7 (Bb13 then Bb7alt) Ebmaj7 (Ebmaj6) C7 (C7alt). The actual chords he's playin are in the parentheses.

But you should try to learn stuff by ear as much as possible, it'll help your qualities as a musician grow a million times more than having stuff handed to you. :)

  • did you really work this by ear? :O

  • Well ya but a lot of it comes from knowing jazz theory and music theory in general really well, knowing how certain progressions sound, and knowing how different chord types and voicings sound. If all else fails, just play it back over and over again and try to pick out each note that's in the chord he's playin and figure out the fingering. That's how I figured the Ebma6 chord he played cuz I'd never really seen that voicing used before. : )

  • awesome yea i need to get into theory some more well jazz music in general tbh.

  • : - )

  • the way he plays is so mesmerizing!

  • thanks man I have to really start considering going to theory lessons...

  • Books help, too, even if it's just bits and pieces of theory from different guitar books and videos and the internet, you start to get an overall picture.

  • Haha dude who freakin cares which variations of the names are used. Everybody says it a little different and they all mean the same thing. The chord is what's important. And I said Fmi7add9 to make sure that the reader knows that there's still a 7th in there cuz not everyone knows the theory as well.

  • I think the reference was not that you were wrong, rather the music is a joy to hear and probably needs no explanation.

  • Comment removed

  • not your problem... I appreciated it

  • really nice and smooth great stuff

  • Laurie thanks for posting this...he is awesome.....

  • beautiful phrasing...

  • does any1 kno wat chords he's playin at the start cause i really wana learn them but i cnt work it out lol please help

  • Read my response to dynamiesteel who had the same question. :)

  • my favourite guitarist bar none! amazing. seen him in edinburgh in like 2002, he was just as insane then.

  • absolute favourite out of the 09 vids.

  • His phrasing o_0 out of this world.

  • Alex is amazing !!

  • I never saw anyone haging their guitar so high!

  • haha~ that's not cool, but it's easy for some wide stretches and arppegios.

  • IMO, the best guitar players have their guitars up high...

  • it pretty hard to pull off tricky passages with your guitar hanging so low like those rockstars on tv...i guess thats why they mainly do rhythm and easyish leads

  • All the greats dont need to hang them low to "look cool", they let the music speak for itself and they are beyond cool.

  • Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, look up Killing in The Name

  • QED... the best guitar players have their guitars up high...

  • Haha fair enought what about kurt cobain, jimi hendrix?

  • OK jimi was a leftie so that's an exception that proves the rule... kurt cobain he's out of my sphere of influence so I can't comment...

  • OK so its 50:50 xD

  • what bout jdb?

  • i have lessons with alex and he advises to have your guitar up high in order to be able to reach all the way up the neck without difficulty.

  • Are you from the Bristol area then?

  • i sure am! :)

  • Ya it doesn't make sense at all to wear it low, it's impossible to play a lot of stuff.

  • yeah i notice in the bluesjamtracks that when he sits down, he has the electric held as a classical guitar

  • thats how he taught me to hold my guitar

  • good thing too! Great player, plus I love the humour in the video!

  • I'm jelous man
