Gumbs was a banger but used up too much energy getting punches off and his punches tended to get in the way of each other. Kaylor has what I call that "East End look" about him, as if many were related: broad forehead over sharp, bright eyes down to an almost girlish elf-like chin. Kevin Mitchell's another example.
Mark is in great shape for his age can't weigh over 175 and works out every day. Does a great job working in the community, has a lot of patience with the kids that come into the gym. He can still hold his own I would like to see anybody talk trash to his face.
Thanks for posting. Was there at Alexandra Palace for this fight . Bit of a hostile atmosphere in the crowd but it kind of added to the drama. Key moment - Kaylor climbing off the canvas to nail Gumbs with the very next punch.
Was at this fight and it kicked off all over. Kaylor could really bang but his chin was always suspect, A rel warrior all the same and always value for money.
I was working at Bloomsbury Crest on the day of this fight and got to meet Mark Kaylor, top fella! Him and Sibbo should be household names even today, brave warriors both.
yes i remember the kaylor christie fight brilliant, think both went down in the 1st round, there was several knockdowns in the fight,id love to see that fight again, used to be some great home british title fights in those days ,and a bit earlier with dave boy green, minter etc
i remember this one..fucking kicking right off all over the place in the venue..icf everywhere..rows between blacks..and spurs boys.. gumbs said some things in the run up to this.. "if i had 1 foot on a banana skin and 1 foot in the grave, kaylor couldnt beat me" kaylor could have it..drayton burst his bubble..done my m8 jimmy cable too..showing me age now....

Anyone got the Kaylor vs Drayton or Katlor vs Tom Collins fights. The Collins fight @ light heavy was a particularly nasty ko loss for Kaylor.

Theres a man who knows a good fight (carlos wigan), This was a very good fight, but the kaylor v christie fight was even better.
As an amateur errol christie was the business.
When the fight occured at pro level there was bad blood, and what a fight?.
Well worth posting...... please.
