  • Same monitor as me! lol thanks for this vid!

  • how your calculate units power consumption to see if the source is big enough

  • 10 A on 12v rail? LOL That's one crap power supply.

  • my power clips dont come out

    their to tight

  • on vid sounds like you have a vantec tornado fan in ur computer

  • is it that easy to take out the motherborad connector becuz every time i try it seems like the motherboard is going to break

  • thanks !

  • Nice way to explain it.

  • Your pc in noisy.

  • tx for the vid =)

  • great video very very helpful

  • Very helpful, I am using it right now to replace my PSU.

  • but there inst suppose that is dangerous working with a power supply using an anti static wrist rap? im a little confused :/

PD: what the hell with that PC? it sounds like a big vacuum cleaner lol

  • There is only a danger if you are wearing a grounding strap and you open the PUS and touch one of the high voltage capacitors.

The CPU fan on this machine has 2 fans and they are quite loud. They do cool very well though so I put up w/ a little noise.

  • what if u touch a capacitor without wearing a strap?

  • If you are grounded you may be seriously injured. A grounding strap could exacerbate the problem since you have a direct ground.

  • I am about to replace the fuse in my 400W PSU. I have read vaguely that the capacitors could hold lethal voltage but then some mention only if you complete the circuit with each hand instead of one and also a mention trickle resistors that bleed out the charge over time. if i shorted the capacitors with a screwdriver, will that discharge the capacitor and if so will it damage the psu or capacitor?

Or should I not worry about that and just wear rubber gloves?

  • @TechSkillsVideos Not true..if l you notice the wrist ground strap is made of cloth.

  • @NikeySunfire the anti static wrist strap is made of cloth. So it's safe to handle a power supply with the strap attached to your wrist.

  • thx men

  • thanx man this is well done

  • Thanks for making this tutorial available. I'm preparing to replace my computer's PSU for the first time ever and this video does a good job of covering the basics, as well as providing useful tips (for example, turn the PC case on its side before actually unscrewing and removing the old power supply).
