Well I may be a year late, but to clarify- Shane McDermott is indeed alive. Sadly, the young boy who originated the role, Philip Amelio, passed in 2005 at the age of 27. He was such a great child actor- holding his own along side Ellen Wheeler and David Canary. Such a loss.

I agree I like this Laura i dont no her real name of the girl who played her. she was a good actress And the Pierce storyline was good and the man who played Pierce was fired He was Hot.I think Scott in real life died I Don't no is real name I read it some where.

No Shane McDermott is still alive--he works as an artist now and sells his work online. Wikipedia him. Interestingly he was on the teen soap opera Swan's Crossing with Sarah Michelle Geller--Kendall number one.

They replaced this Scott with Daniel Cosgrove because they wanted the role to have more sex appeal
