In Publication 590, the IRS asks, "Has it been at least 5 years from the beginning of the year in which you first set up and contributed to a Roth IRA?" (page 65).
Even though you contributed in August 2006, the time calculation is 5 years from January 2006. January 2011 is 5 years from January 2006, so you should be ok. Make sure to contact your tax advisor, though, as I specialize in financial advise, and not tax advise.

If I started a roth acct. in August of 2006, and I am now 60 years old; could I start taking disbursements on January 2011 and not wait until August?
