OMG I never dreamed I would see these creepy yet fascinating images again. I was glued to the TV at what age three? Every day I had to try once again to discern if Midnight was a real live cat or as I suspected a stuffed dead cat, as he said only and always "Nice!".
@MartinGist She was definitely a live cat (see her licking her nose in the clip) but she did endure a lot of stuff, like costumes, having to play musical instruments etc
You're right. I watched it not knowing if I was supposed to be happy or frightened. I guess Andy provided enough protection so it was okay, but I realize now, it was like a haunted house. Froggy, Midnight. The cutaways to murky Indian jungle scenes. It was supposed to be cute, I guess, but those black shapes on the flickering dark TV were eerie. But Andy was comforting and it was just safe enough to be fun.
all right the frog may have been a little over the top.. but the show must have been good... the same kids kept coming back week after week..sat in the same seats to !!
Thank you, You Tube, for the memories.

How did the theme song go?
"I got a gang,
You got a gang.
Everybody here's got a gang,
But there's only one real gang for me--
Andy's Gang! Yay!"

There was always something very strange about this show. Gave me the willys as a kid...like they were all tripping on acid and I wasn't.

Yeah, and telling all their kids to plunk theier maggic twangers. Sicko!
And doesn't he look a bit like Rupert Murdoch?

I heard that Andy Devine was drunk, and was later kicked off the air for being drunk.
I doubt it, though.

Jeez...David Lynch's stuff looks like "I Dream of Jeanie" compared to this.
