@freekaya7777 There is no excuse for your kind of ignorance. You fool, he's in the Hall of Fame for a reason. I personally know 2 people who saw him play. There is enough written about him and enough testimony to back up Gibson's ranking in this vid. Open your mind and open your eyes and do some research. If your too lazy to pick up a book then visit various websites on the subject. Come on.
@MJVESSIO. Sorry on Pete Rose, 2 GG's over 25 year. His OB% is probably pretty good. Similar hitters like Boggs or Gwynn has a much career higher BAs. I don't think he ever had more than 100 RBIs, 20 SBs or 20 HRs in a season. Where did he usually bat 2nd?
Why is Pete Rose in the top 50? Career stats similar to Paul Molitor(although he was great players), Charlie longevity, mediocre fielder, 1GG?No power numbers for 3rd/1st/OF. Competitiveness a plus
I dislike this list. Babe Ruth at 6 though? Bench is WAY to high. So is Joe D. Ted needs to be in the top 10 IMHO, no way he diserves to be that far back. Ty Cobb is better than your giving him credit for. Every player 22-30 is better than Cal Ripken Jr.
But my Biggest issure is ROGER HORNSBY at #44. WTF were you thinking!? the heck if he was mean he's a top 3 all time hitter!
Nice job, but I don't think Musial won three World Series. If I remember correctly he and Williams were opponents in the only Series for either of them, probably in 1946 or 47. Neither hit well. The Cardinals won, I think in seven games.
@MJVESSIO I don't really hold that against him because 1. everyone was crooked in those days, Cobb and Speaker included... 2. he was obviously reluctant to go along with his teammates and did hit .375 in the series.
IIRC, Jackson was the second-best hitter of the 1910's behind Cobb, and the greatest slugger of the era. If his career had continued into the 20's, he'd have hit over .350 a few more times at least and maybe put up some home run numbers.
@DisappearingBoy88 He also had a tremendous arm. Ruth supposedly copied his batting stance. You have swayed me. Now I feel bad about Shoeless Joe. I had him originally 30-35. I welcome anymore comments on any other videos. thanks.
@DisappearingBoy88 You seem pretty angry lol. Of course I'm an asshole, it's what I do but you seem truly passionate about fighting the good fight against an anonymous wall of text, well-intentioned but not terribly productive. With the energy you spent clicking on my comment, reading it, and posting this retarded reply you could have bought a gun, stuck it in your mouth, and pulled the trigger. The world would be rid of one more hypocrite, that's for sure.
@TheBaconlaser Just read your comment. great comeback. funny as hell. seriously, very well done. me- this whole youtube thing is a joke. i knew the mantle and williams videos would get crazed reactions. it's alot of laughs. who really cares? do you? I don't.
@loughran03 I don't recall musial, speaker, mantle or mays spitting, fighting or getting fat and slow or being suspended, do you? the point of the video is to look beyond the stats and your nose. 20s & 30s stats are comical.
Spelled Cal Ripken wrong, not sure if Ruth should be so low. Played in dead ball era for a while, and completely blew away everyone else in the league.
George Sisler didn't have 4000 hits, he had 2,812. Don't underrate Rickey Henderson either, he's pretty low on the list.
Amazing list overall though, must have taken a long time.
@YANKEEBOY114 i said that sisler was 'projected' to have a 4,000 hit career but for an eye injury, after which he was never the same. henderson . 271/401/419 no high average, not much power, good defense early but kinda nurses injuries and not so team-oriented. the top 50 is a great accomplishment as a player. not that much difference between 35 and 55. i must have proofread this thing 20 times and still, i missed ripken. ruth as a hitter/fielder/baserunner is no mantle, mays or aaron. - peace
True about Sisler, but Rickey Henderson batted .279, not .271, in his best years he batted around .300 all the time, his defense early was beyond good, it was fantastic, and his walk total is AMAZING, especially considering that at that time, pitchers would want to do anything BUT walk him, but he still managed to draw 100 walks many times..
josh gibson is just an urban legend only negro league players talk about him you cant put him two thats insane

Ruth should be #1. Mays did not win 3 MVP awards.

@rduranmar Ruth could easily be one....How I missed the Mays MVP Error is beyond me. I proofread this many times. good catch.

Well done list. Although Henderson is too low. Best lead-off hitter ever.
