@TheYouHub hm, i think, you don´t understand much about organs, a Rieger can be all, but not cheap. They make good Quality in Austria and belong to the better organ builders in the world.
@BeatsByWeight Its not a chinese organ, its a Rieger build in Austria. And 88 Stops is not gigantic, its big, but, by far not the biggest. Its a OK- Size to play symphonic Music and the great Organ Works. But how much fun makes it to play "Cathedral Musik" in "Living room" acustic? Perhaps, the chinese can ask at the "Kölner Dombauhütte", they have the experience to build them a nice little cathedral for the organ.
The Chinese always try to make the biggest everything, heh heh, silly communists. At least try to create something Asian on a massive scale instead of trying to copy and out do western acomplishments. Or maybe I'm just a prick.
of course it has to be the toccata and fugue in D minor. why not play something else? perhaps Widor's Allegro from the 6th Syphony? not to discard bach but I think the ^th symphony is way better than the D minor.
go to tocca & fugue in d minor the bald fat guy sitting at the biggest organ in Sydny Austria. Wont have to listen to someone screwinging it up with the talking no talking just plaing The guy should have been wearing a cape
I am so glad that we went full circle therough all kinds of buzzing electronic devices through Hammonds and other creations back to the king of all instruments - pipe organ! I so weary of ignorant journalists presenting the organ (and most else) in such an abysmal manner. Small wonder no one intelligent voluntarily listens to their drivel.
@russedav5 Journalists do talk too much. They should just ask questions to those who know. I don't want to hear their naive opinions. I want to hear from those who have their hands on the subject.
@ninmar1000 Nothing is playing then, but the song following is called Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, translates to A Little Night Music. It's by Mozart if you didn't already know. Hope this answers your question.
My grandmother has a pipe organ at her church but I don't think it works no more I've played a electronic organ I have one at home it's a entertainer 3 kimball but I've never played a pipe organ hopefully if they get the pipe organ fixed one day when I visit her in Ohio I might play it .
@JackBlair2 Well at least the fact that there are people like in our culture who think like that proves the opposite - that our culture is not superior to any other.
instead of those stupid "practise" keyboards, they should get at least digital organs such as Johannus, Rogers or Allen instruments to practise on!!! They'll a lot cheaper than a Steinway! FYI.
@frosty4700 Actually, the electronic display can be very useful, especially if you have multiple organists -- presets can be customized! One, what, 16 pin data wire instead of one wire for each key and stop? And no more air connection? Old does not always equal good. However, I do like the clicking of older organs.
@frosty4700 All the sound producing part is clasical. Electronics helping the performer witout altering the sound... well, that's great for me. It's what thecnology is meant for.
@frosty4700 Most organs built in North America or Europe over the past twenty years have some kind of digital display. Older instruments had voltage and pressure meters and were often covered with indicator lights. Many organs also have monitors for the organist to see various places in the church.

80 % of the hundreds of buttons and stops on a pipe organ are just for show??? that is disappointing. I thought they all contributed to the organs awesome sound! I never knew this!
That is completely untrue! Every piston, stop, button, key, pedal and knob has a specific purpose. They are not for show. There are some pipes on the facades of some organs that are for show and are silent, but they are there for visual purposes to complete the balance of the appearance. Organs are not tuned by plumbers either. I don't know who the jokester is. These are highly complex instruments and apprentices train for years before becoming a real organ builder and repair technician.
Thats awesome, and now... play it backwards!
