@10xjayx By rebooting, I meant restarting your computer (Start menu -> Shutdown/Restart). You won't lose any data. Once you reboot, try this - unplug your iPhone from your PC, turn the iPhone off by holding the power button (if you don't see anything, thats fine, if you see slide to power off, then power it off). Now hold the home button (the screen should be blank, display nothing) and plug the iPhone to your PC. The restore mode should kick in (the one with cable on the screen). Now restore.

@10xjayx Ok, if you are not interested in preserving baseband or jailbreaking/unlocking - then I would make sure I have the latest version of iTunes. Reboot the Windows 7 machine and then try updating it. (Hope you had a backup previously).

question; please help: if i unjailbreak my iphone, will all the apps, contacts nd stuff be gone? like installous, cydia, pes 2011 :D, and all the apps i downloaded?
My computer wasn't recognizing my ipod touch so i went to dfu mode hoping i could force restore and when i did it tried to restore but in the middle i got an error message saying 'cannot restore.' take it out of dfu mode and it still needs me to connect to itunes to restore.. and I can't restore. What to do?
maraxani you are a dick, that phone was in DFU mode this video was the best help i found on the net. thank you rayofvictory keep doing what your doing mate.
what do you call the mode you are in on start of the video? my iphone is stuck on that mode and i couldnt do anything about it.. could you please help me?
@rayofvictory that is Recovery Mode. If you want to take the phone in DFU is simple. 1 . Push the power button for 2 sec. 2 . Push the home buton too (dont realese the power buton ) for 10 sec . 3 . Relese all the butons after 20 sec :) Have fun !
Rayofvictory - you are wrong as well. That is recovery mode. DFU mode, on the other hand, will have a black screen once successfully done. I've had an iPhone since the 3G model and have been jailbreaking ever since. I'm 100% sure that I'm correct. Rename your video or delete it.
@maraxani It clearly goes to show you have no idea what you are talking about. Everything the dude says in his vid is very accurate and totally true. If you see a white screen then you have major problems lmao..

How to get in DFU:
1. Plug your iDevice via USB into the computer
2. Power off your iDevice
3. Hold the Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds
4. Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button until your computer recognizes your iDevice
Note: iTunes may say that your iDevice is in Recovery Mode. No, if your iDevice's screen is completely black, that means that it is in DFU mode.
How to get out of DFU:
1. While you are in DFU mode, hold the Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds.

What do I do when Itunes says Itunes has detcted an ipod in recoverey mode.
You must restore this Ipod before it can be used with ITunes.
I already had the Geo hot guy on my Ipod and after it just went black.
