Hey does anyone know the general time of the year that this game will come out? I am completely ignorant of this game, because I just found it now. I am so fucking getting this.
Will it be now? After 8 YEARS games are still trying to beat WoW and are still comparing themselves to it...8 years...It's kinda obvious that I prefer a Core i7 than a Celeron...It's called evolution, games will obviously beat WoW, the question is: Will they be as much popular and last as long as WoW did/does? We'll see =)
From what shown here, it looks like the fresh breath MMOs needs.
The movements looks just right, and the whole idea of no tank/healer/dps setup sounds really appealing. For too long I have wanted to be able to be more of a quick support type of thing, like fixer or trader in Anarchy online.
Thought I'd put MMOs behind me..but... hmm... maybe not. Though, too many things have been "too good to be true" We'll see I guess =)
@buddacafe Look up some more videos, really understand the game before you begin to breathe, because believe me this game WILL blow you away:) And ps I agree with you about TOR it was terrible but to be honest who didn't expect it to be bad, it was a WoW clone from the start, the rp is good but it's far to grindy in between the actual personal story, the graphics are choppy, and the mmo aspect is pretty much none existent. They should of just done a full blown rpg instead.

@totalishnc ive played WoW since launch and can't agree with you more, it's like a dried out old lady that no amount of lube can save at this point. I wasnt originally interested in GW2 never played the original but the more videos ive watched of it the more excited for it I get. Lets hope it lives up to appearances!

I did not even know what the hell the game was until about 1 week ago when I was listening to "greatest battle music of all times: flameheart" when the second top comment (right below mine lol) said who knows what guild wars 2 is? so I searched it on Google and then on youtube. the more videos I watched about it the more I wanted the game. Im sick of WoW too, not because it doesn't live up to my standard, but it's consuming too much time. I love WoW, but I don't have a desire to play it. The reason WoW still hold 10 millions subs is because of the amount of income they are getting so that we can have patches, expansions, new dungeons...etc. GW2 will have no monthly fee which is great, but how do they afford to meet our standard when their funds is drying out. Maintaining servers cost isn't cheap.

@arcticchill07081 That's actually incorrect. While most of what he said in the video is true there are a few errors that he himself has pointed out. For instance, things will not auto level up to you, you down level to them.

Im slightly concerned if i can run this game on my windows 7, 64 bit, 640GB pc i play SWTOR and have to put it on low graphic settings because i lag on medium an high i wish arenanet put the specs on there official website so i know if i should get a new pc or graphic card
@bl1nd2012 ummmm did you not hear the the World vs World PVP is amazing. people are calling it Darkage of camlot 2...(best PVP MMo) thats why so many of us PVPers are looking forward to this game. not sure what you have been reading? a zone with 3way server PVP with 1000s of people, castles, towers, camp to attack... and there is also 1v1 fights to
I know about WvWvW, its amazing and i will play this game for sure, but i just was saying about this game not having 1v1 discipline(dueling or hunting someone in world), teamplay is good, but making it the only way of pvp looks weird for me :S
Best Guild Wars 2 video out there so far. I'm sooooo looking forward to this game but i can't stand everyone putting out Beta / Press footage without saying a set date for the game to come out! It's pathetic, really. But i'm really glad they are working hard with this to make it look as awesome as possible.

@TEHUMUR It's not pay to win, nor was the first Guild Wars. All the micro transactions are is cosmetic items like costumes, mini pets and name changes/server changes. There will be no buying skills or items with bonuses to them. Jumped the gun a little bit, please do research before doing that. :(

The only let down for me is the:" No tank, healer, dps"
You wont feel unique when playing, you will just be a player in the group, and that sounds kinda boring. You want a reputation if you are a skilled player.

I think a more accurate way to say it would be "No specific tank, healer, dps classes". The way that ANet claims it will work is that every class has skills of every type, all of which fit in a certain play style.
So you will be known for whatever you do well, regardless of your class. If you are good at keeping the enemies' attention but can dodge all their attacks (basically a tank), you'll be known for that.
@BrownCookieBoy Who says "skilled player" only fits the definition of a tank healer or dps? Sure you can be a skilled tank, healer or dps, but there's a million of you out there, no matter how skilled you are, reputation only goes so far. Besides that, skill will fit more into this game because you are responsible for yourself, if you survive horrible odds by your merit, then you're skilled. Get it?
@Kasooni If you say there is a million of tank healers and dps, how many do you think there will be of a class that can play everything? Everyone in the game can do exactly everything you can do.
When you are responsible for yourself, you will focus mostly on yourself and therefore not noticing what everyone around you does.
Its like playing single player in a team. You won't have to interact at all with the other players. You are more skilled if you can cooperate with others.
@BrownCookieBoy You want cooperation hm? Alright, in this game there is a system that allows people to combine character skills. Say an elementalist lays down a trail of fire, a ranger can shoot arrows through it and they become flaming arrows. Same elementalist, a warrior can whirlwind through the flames and create a flaming vortex around him. Get it? Cooperation is still there, much more so than it would be in WoW with the trinity, trust me. It's your decision though, so yeah.
@BrownCookieBoy they are actually trying to bring back the Multy player in MMO. Everyone works togeather you dont even have to group, everyone gets credit. you actually want to be around other people in this game. you can still do group rolls if you want but its not needed. no tank holding aggro = more fun imo because you dont know what to expect. and when someone gets hurt, you can toss um a heal then start atatcking again. + class cross combo skills.. now thats cool and = teamwork.

@19EJ91 My point is, you wont have a specific reputation other than you race and class. Lets say you are really good at healing "He's a really good healer". You will never hear that in Gw2. since there are no healers tanks or dps.

@BrownCookieBoy Starcraft 2 as an example, there are good player and people recognize them right? and everyone is just Z, T or P what make them different is how good you play your race. I was healer on WoW and I can tell is impossible for a healer win a fight doesn't matter how good you are. And people will recognize a healer with good gear, I know that because when I was lvl 340 no1 wanted me because of my ilevel then when I was 388 every1 wanted me. Is just a matter of ilevel not skill...
@BrownCookieBoy You can still specialize if you want. "You are what you equipt". You can be a Rouge with a greatsword doing massive DPS if you know how to do it right. Or you can be a Necromancer with heavy armor and a shield and be the best Tank. Stop being so narrow minded. VISUALIZE!

you can heal yourself, all classes have some DPS and some tanky skills, its your choise how you set it up. this is just balancing a game instead of an overpowered class that every 1 is gonna play
I've been considering getting this game, never played the first one but this does look like a fairly good game, and the no monthly fee is a massive up for me, no "you have to pay for the privilege of playing." One of the things turning me away however is how much system requirements will be needed, I have a pretty crappy computer (I was able to play wow without many problems though, but then wow will most likely prove to be far less demanding considering the graphics and simplistic combat.)
@IDKwatever96 It does actually, it lets me know I won't require a powerhouse computer, so even if there are some problems I could just turn down some of the video setting to get it to run smoothly.
@keulain None of those, the microtransactions will only consist of cosmetics. So nothing that you can buy for real money will make you better/stronger, level faster, get more gold etc. Only stuff that affect appearance. ArenaNet has said that they wont allow players to buy themselves powerfull :)
all secondary things like you mentioned aswell as dyes(you can find them all in game but there will be an option to buy them if you cant be bothered to find them) aswell as extra character slots.
there will most likely be weapons and armour sold in the store aswell however these will be purely cosmetic so that players can transmute(like transmog from wow) them onto better gear, these items will be no better than common "white" gear

This is seriously the game i have been hoping for ever since guild wars got me into MMO's but i still wanted the actiony gameplay from action/FPS games ect..
Looks like it could be good. Not sure how I feel about no flying, I like classes that are a bit more specialty personally because it brings some diversity to the game. Most people would disagree with me but I like pay to play. That money isn't just going to no where, it's going into constant updates, bug fixes, and planning. Definitely going to be trying this one out though, looks like it could be promising.
actually that money is going no where, only a tiny percentage of it actually goes to updates and so on.
with 10 mill subs wow makes 150 million dollars a month, you honestly think that those little balancing patches and the occasional content patch cost 150 mill a month to make? no.
your sub fee is going straight to the pockets of the shareholders, no where else, subs were originally implemented to mitigate server costs, this is no longer problem, subs fees are plain profit.

@TEHUMUR It's not pay to win, nor was the first Guild Wars. All the micro transactions are is cosmetic items like costumes, mini pets and name changes/server changes. There will be no buying skills or items with bonuses to them. Jumped the gun a little bit, please do research before doing that. :(

You wont feel unique when playing, you will just be a player in the group, and that sounds kinda boring. You want a reputation if you are a skilled player.

@BrownCookieBoy Blech, should have proof-read my first reply.
I think a more accurate way to say it would be "No specific tank, healer, dps classes". The way that ANet claims it will work is that every class has skills of every type, all of which fit in a certain play style.
So you will be known for whatever you do well, regardless of your class. If you are good at keeping the enemies' attention but can dodge all their attacks (basically a tank), you'll be known for that.

Sure you can be a skilled tank, healer or dps, but there's a million of you out there, no matter how skilled you are, reputation only goes so far. Besides that, skill will fit more into this game because you are responsible for yourself, if you survive horrible odds by your merit, then you're skilled. Get it?

@Kasooni If you say there is a million of tank healers and dps, how many do you think there will be of a class that can play everything? Everyone in the game can do exactly everything you can do.
When you are responsible for yourself, you will focus mostly on yourself and therefore not noticing what everyone around you does.
Its like playing single player in a team. You won't have to interact at all with the other players. You are more skilled if you can cooperate with others.

@BrownCookieBoy You want cooperation hm? Alright, in this game there is a system that allows people to combine character skills. Say an elementalist lays down a trail of fire, a ranger can shoot arrows through it and they become flaming arrows. Same elementalist, a warrior can whirlwind through the flames and create a flaming vortex around him. Get it? Cooperation is still there, much more so than it would be in WoW with the trinity, trust me. It's your decision though, so yeah.

@BrownCookieBoy they are actually trying to bring back the Multy player in MMO. Everyone works togeather you dont even have to group, everyone gets credit. you actually want to be around other people in this game. you can still do group rolls if you want but its not needed. no tank holding aggro = more fun imo because you dont know what to expect. and when someone gets hurt, you can toss um a heal then start atatcking again. + class cross combo skills.. now thats cool and = teamwork.

@19EJ91 My point is, you wont have a specific reputation other than you race and class. Lets say you are really good at healing "He's a really good healer". You will never hear that in Gw2. since there are no healers tanks or dps.
The things you do, you can do with every class you are playing, how boring will that be after 2 years?
Yea let people get replaced, it brings so much more competition into the game, competition brings forth skills and serious players.

@BrownCookieBoy Starcraft 2 as an example, there are good player and people recognize them right? and everyone is just Z, T or P what make them different is how good you play your race. I was healer on WoW and I can tell is impossible for a healer win a fight doesn't matter how good you are. And people will recognize a healer with good gear, I know that because when I was lvl 340 no1 wanted me because of my ilevel then when I was 388 every1 wanted me. Is just a matter of ilevel not skill...

I've been considering getting this game, never played the first one but this does look like a fairly good game, and the no monthly fee is a massive up for me, no "you have to pay for the privilege of playing." One of the things turning me away however is how much system requirements will be needed, I have a pretty crappy computer (I was able to play wow without many problems though, but then wow will most likely prove to be far less demanding considering the graphics and simplistic combat.)

@keulain None of those, the microtransactions will only consist of cosmetics. So nothing that you can buy for real money will make you better/stronger, level faster, get more gold etc. Only stuff that affect appearance. ArenaNet has said that they wont allow players to buy themselves powerfull :)

all secondary things like you mentioned aswell as dyes(you can find them all in game but there will be an option to buy them if you cant be bothered to find them) aswell as extra character slots.
there will most likely be weapons and armour sold in the store aswell however these will be purely cosmetic so that players can transmute(like transmog from wow) them onto better gear, these items will be no better than common "white" gear

Looks like it could be good. Not sure how I feel about no flying, I like classes that are a bit more specialty personally because it brings some diversity to the game. Most people would disagree with me but I like pay to play. That money isn't just going to no where, it's going into constant updates, bug fixes, and planning. Definitely going to be trying this one out though, looks like it could be promising.

actually that money is going no where, only a tiny percentage of it actually goes to updates and so on.
with 10 mill subs wow makes 150 million dollars a month, you honestly think that those little balancing patches and the occasional content patch cost 150 mill a month to make? no.
your sub fee is going straight to the pockets of the shareholders, no where else, subs were originally implemented to mitigate server costs, this is no longer problem, subs fees are plain profit.
