@TheKen2942 I took me three months before I was comfortable enough to have a simple conversation (I was working in Chad as an English teacher at the time). I felt pretty solid after a year. This was eight years ago, and I'm still learning bit by bit. Some day I'll move to the south of France and achieve near-native proficiency. I've still got a ways to go.
@thefrenchguy3000 How long do you think it will take someone who has already taken 3 years of formal french(french in school) to get to a good(advanced) level in french, if he studies everyday on his own?
@thayungbuck16 It all depends on the learner. Some pick it up in six months...some in six years. The key is to immerse yourself as much as possible. Those that need extra help, I advise them to start with children's books and children's programming....some of which you can find on youtube. Your best bet though is to find someone who already speaks French, and practice with them a few times a week...even if just for 10 minutes at a time.
La joie de boire rouge vin.....Mr Frenchguy3000...I have taken immersion courses in French while living in Paris and taken courses during my lifetime and I have to tell you that what you are doing for us is truly amazing and please keep this going. I have a better understanding of the French language through your videos.
@gam1ller I just started learning French. Isn't the proper way to say your first sentence "...La joie de boire du vin rouge..."? I thought that in French the adjective comes before the noun?
yeah, learning a language has lots of fun! Recently I learn from daily life, here people says: "il fait fret(really colddddd)" and "Tu-veux tu du cafe?" in resto, which you couldn't find in any dictionary! haha ^_^
@reidoak1 Depending on how advanced you are, you might want to stock up on some French magazines. I like science ones the best. But I recommend you choose anything of interest to you. If you're a beginner, don't hesitate to purchase children's or young adult's magazines.
I've been learning on Rocket French online program. Have you ever heard of this program? What do you think of it? Btw, glad to see you back on here with new lessons.

@Russ668 I've never heard of that program. But my feelings on programs are generally the same across the board. They work when the student does.
