words can't express my gratitude- You're putting a voice to the abuse on children and adults in the US who are being 'tested' for profit. My prayer is that prophet will overcome profit and all will have a voice without fearing oppression or hatred. For me, bipolar= lack of self & shame from not fitting the 'mold'.
@aaronamccoy same here, but the problems with these pills are that the body adapts to the drug and from time to time there will be the need to increase the dosage...and also that everybody reacts differently to the substance, same as with illegal drugs, ps did you suffer any side effects except dry mouth and feeling like a zombie but happy at the same time?
@Szeba86 well what ive found is you learn to work with them, i'm suppose to take them everyday but i only take em every few days and so on, i never had too many side effects except when i stopped cold turkey, its the worse come day you ever wanna experience, if you stop to it over a period of time..other than that don't do illegal drugs and even alcohol too much with them because they will make you fucking loony..
@aaronamccoy even more loony? now I'll have to try that out lol ps ssris are marketed non addictive...but what you've described made me a little bit unsure about these drugs... oh well at least I can function somewhat normally while I'm on them.
@Szeba86 haha, yup basically follow the instructions on the bottle and you should be alright..they definately make me more functional in society, instead of hiding under a bed all day i can walk around town, not competely terrofied,
The reasons you listed are riddled with logical fallacies. For example: you state that antidepressants CAUSE school shootings/stabbings. But what about other common variables. The first one that comes to my mind is depression. Depression itself in children and young adults can lead to agressive behavior...can it not? Your arguments are one-sided and weak.
There's a small and excellent online depression support group called Depression Hangout that is always open to anyone who is struggling with mental health problems (not just depression). It's run in its own chaotic way by its members who meet regularly in the chat room and it's a great place to seek and provide help and support, make new friends and even just have a laugh. (We all need that too!) To join just go to depressionhangout-dot-blogspot-dot-com.
I agree with you on the fact that antidepressants are worthless. I have Bipolar/Type 1 and was given the AD-Paxil and Prozac. They caused more problems than anything good. I now take Lithium only and a PRN sleep aid at night. I also get outside, I think natural sunlight does wonders for mood stability, and I work-I never tell anyone there I have BP. Cause it's really no ones business but my own. People change the way they look at ya when they know something like that. Good Video!
thank you so much for vid.. there is virtually no mental care here in Ireland... my spouse has B.P. she denies it.. i told her doctor she says stress.. i have been physically attacked many times, thrown out of home 15 times.. she has compulsive disorders, she is a pathological liar... she has broken off from friends, family etc... last year she lost lots of weight but everyone know she was making herself sick..i cant leave. cant afford it. i feel id be better dead.. what do i do??
@fairhillnorrie My sister has a mental illness, and found out she is gluten-intolerant and dairy-sensitive. So all these years she has been eating foods she’s allergic to! She’s feeling much better, now, with the new diet, and vitamin/herb therapies, combined with the pharmaceuticals, (the side-effects from which have subsided). So, combined, I believe there is a place for prescription drugs. There are even pharmacies, now, that sell combination-therapy products. Consult a naturopath.
... so they cling to their "disorder" as clutch. I actually seen people getting worked over and mad when it was suggested bipolar does not have to be lifelong disease. I mean, that should be reason to be hopeful, not upset...
Another thing is that this society that likes to brag about its diversity and tolerance is hopeless set on narrow definition of "normal".
I agree with the big pharma advertising. They are trying to make everything as symptom of mental disorder. Are you rightfully sad that something had not worked out of you? Well, we got pill for that. Do you hate monday mornings? That is depression... People start overanalyzing their feelings and after a while they come to the conclusion there is something wrong with them.
Some people sadly want easy fix, or at least excuse for not doing with their lifes... they are afraid to live...
I had been weaning myself off of them very slowly.... Never try to quit them cold turkey it fact it has taken me 6 months to stop them. Reason is that they numb me the problems are still there. It numbs your anxiety your depression your sex live and your feeling of aliveness.
People have lots of problems however these are never illnesses, diseases or disorders. Make circumstances negative you are depressed make circumstances positive you are happy. Work on improving circumstances FORGET about all drugs ("medications").
Thanks for all the links! Anyone know what happened to Dr. Tracy's website? She sold it or it was taken over... someone selling insurance on there! Thanks.
imo research is science or journalism -. none of which you deliver.. what you´re doing is just putting together sources and projecting your opinion on them. Which is what 99% of all tv,
online and print media do, but its still wrong lol...
dont forget - its not the nicotine that kills.. the smooooooke ...
How long after taking the drugs might you experience withdrawl symptoms? I took lexapro for about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks at the age of seventeen, and a year and a half later, i started having sporadic brain zap sensations, each less severe than the last. Why would I experience the symptoms of withdrawl such a long time later?
After 6 years of taking antidepressants I felt totally broken and suicidal. My life was like a nightmare made of guilt, fear and sorrow. I smoke marijuana every day since 2 years. Weed is the best antidepressant ever !!!!!
It really is the ego. Please message me. I was in the military and been through the whole spectrum of "reality". Been on anti-depressants many times in my life. You are a great speaker of truth. "God Bless"

It is important to remember that bipolar disorder is also known as "*sshole disorder". No one likes the bipolar, except possibly the object of the bipolar person's flattery/manipulation. bipolar behaviors are not automatic due to neurotransmitter imbalance - rather, bipolar behavior is simply unethical. The real question is why does the bipolar think the rules don't apply to them? Many "normal" people have had deep depressions but did not allow themselves to become very unethical.
Congratulations rh001yt. In the two years that I've been making videos, yours, rhoo1yt is the single most callous and insensitive thing I've ever read. I thought I had heard it all. I'll leave your comment up as an example of the total ignorance and bigotry bipolar people need to put up with in everyday life.
There is a scientific test and simple explanation for why many people experience only the placebo affect and other are at high risk of the adverse reactions, the percentage benefiting is much smaller if you consider benefiting being sedated!!! But most do not and the ones who metabolise faster are still safer than those at high risk who become psychotic and even further depressed on these dangerous drugs. It all comes back to the CYP450 genes get tested before taking any of these drugs
I did. The author seemed to think the pills gave her some space to work out her problems. Maybe they did, but research shows a placebo most likely would have done the same. What healed her was a relationship with a therapist who cared.
@gardintyven Have you read other books by Wurtzel or read her articles? That woman was a drug addicts, self-harming and she does not come off as stable person AT ALL.
Antidepressants saved my life. I don´t believe a placebo could have the same effect. What do the people who never had a depression know. An idiot made this video!!!
is this guy suffering with depression or bipolar himself? if not then he is full of shit. being bipolar, if i don't take my meds things would go downhill. i hate taking meds, but i know how much better i feel with them. and it is a LEGITIMATE disease just like diabetes etc. that's my 2 cents.
This video is very sad to me...why can't people focus on the good psychiatry does?? I am living proof that psychiatry works...yes, it has flaws but yet it does so much good.
i'm going to see one of these mind helpers ''notice the way i can't spell what you call them :) clever way out awwhahhah'' i'm going to see one of these mind helpers in 8 mins and if she offers me drugs .... *BANG*!! big head butt!!
Good effort on the part of the poster. I'm just glad I dont live in developed countries where these meds can be/will be forced on me.
Btw, doctor's pills have always been too strong for me, TCM (traditional chinese medicine) works better, less effects, cheaper too.
I've also seen & read MORE people being "cured" using alternative methods rather than doctor's meds as there could be various non psychology reasons that caused it
I'm in the process of watching Century of the Self. Have you heard of it? It is a look at the history of Freud and his psychoanalysis, and his nephew Edward Bernays, the father of propaganda. It's pretty long with 3 different segments, but worth watching!
You will like this series, then. The first 2 are in my favorites and the title is Happiness Machines. It actually goes along with what you are saying here...it's all about CONTROL.
Hi bipolarwakingup - (Forgive the flowery language, English is not my mother tongue) As a former 'mental patient' I too left the meds behind me 14 years ago, live a healthy and happy life and wanted to say that I'm glad to have found your post - it's good to see that there are others out there who went through the psyche wringer but were able to rise stronger rather than allow it to taint their self-esteem, lives, aspirations and experience of the waking world. We are the Phoenix risen. Kudos.
So many people are brainwashed into believing that these drugs are truly helping, when it couldn't be further from the truth. I have gotten into arguments - has anyone else?
Oh, and the comment I made below was in response to kirklott.
Re arguments, well my mother in law doesn't believe me. She obediently takes her drugs. She lies in bed all day long, every day, rarely getting out of her nightgown, and rarely goes out. She mostly eats cheap cereal (no protein) so now she's diabetic too. She's been this way about 40 years. I was a wreck for 10 years, but after coming down off drugs - and replacing with it diet, supplements, exercise, mood log, sunshine, meditation, prayer, gardening - I feel my best in a decade.
Thats unfortunate about your m-i-l. Some people are very afraid of change, and are comfortable with how things are, no matter how unhealthy it is for them. They just cant imagine how much better their quality of life would improve if they made the necessary changes.
What made you go off your meds? The first thing that got me thinking was a lady I met at a CHADD meeting, and she was very friendly and nice. She said that she did everything naturally, and that I should look into it. After being on several different meds over the years, the last straw was going off of Effexor, which was a nightmare. I then read the book, Your Drug May Be Your Problem, by Dr. Breggin, and that changed everything.
Yes, it's quite informative. Dr. Breggin also has a website where you can learn more about his work. He is very much anti-medication and against harmful pschological practices, such as eletroshock treatment.
I completely agree with all that you are saying, and have also done my own research. However, I thought that normally psychiatrists do not prescribe anti-depressants for bipolar because it makes the manic side worse.
From what I´ve learned so far, the anti-depressants don´t push you into mania, as they simply inhibit your serotonin levels. To be manic, you need to be fully alive! However, coming off any psych drug tends to lead you into psychosis, especially if it is done quickly.
Coming off pysch drugs can be more dangerous than going on. You must do it slowly, with careful guidance from a supportive psychiatrist. One guideline is come off in 10 increments of reducing the drug 10% (with a pill cutter if necessary), spread out over a period of time equal to 10% of the time on the drug. Also watch out for original symptoms to come back, and be ready to counteract with new strategies: great diet, supplements esp 5-HTP, sunshine, exercise, protein, meditation, prayer, etc.
The video is right on. Pysch drugs ruined my life. Read "The Mood Cure" by Julia Ross, as well as the Natural Medicine series by Stephanie Marohn. And get nutritional deficiency testing from Pfeiffer Treatment Center.
Great advice! I have Julia Ross' book too. Some more more books that I would like to add are The Amino Revolution, by Robert Erdmann, Ph.D.; any books by Peter Breggin, and Joan Mathews Larson Ph.D. - Depression Free, Naturally. Dr. Mathews also has an out-patient clinic for alcoholism, bipolar, and depression and her own line of supplements, which you can find on the Internet.
am sorry to here people had bad times but there saved my life.i suffer from dysthymia been depressed all my life untill i tried anti depressents.dont get me wrong its took a while to find the right one.
PT2-I WORK in Pharma..it IS business-most of what you say is correct. I suffer borderline suicidiality and refuse to take any of them, which also cause hair loss and obesity. Stick to a diet of lo carbs and fresh GREEN vegs, 2 shots of Vodka a week - NO LIE - STAY OFF SSRI!!!I have been depressed 20+years and a CpHT for ten..I have a bit of backround..Good Luck. No negatives needed per my post
blah blah blah- get off the anti-sweetners, get off ALL carbs which your pancrase turns to sugar and once again sends you reeling. Stick w/st. Johns Wort and Valerian.
YES! You couldn't be more CORRECT! Not only the physical aspects but the mental ones - being back on some routiene, EXCERSIS HELPS IMMENSLY! I did it religiously, OBSESSIVELY for years! It helps, and once I am off my fat ass-New Year approaching, I shall try again, lol-But You ARE TOO CORRECT!!
4. Harmful Side Effects: Suicide, Murder, School Shootings
did you seriously list SCHOOL SHOOTINGS as a side effect? i hate big pharmaceutical companies as much as anyone but goddamn you people will say anything
But point is, we are entering into a decade of enlightenment about this oppressive pych industry. They are GREEDY! filth with no regard for the human suffering they inflict. Sure it worked in decades past. But we are vastly more aware then this now!
IT IS THE OUTMODED PYSCH INDUSTRY THAT CAUSES THIS CONFUSION.......
You are NOT! mentally ill, AT ALL!, NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST....... YOUR DEPRESSION is "ABOUT" your experience, being told to you by a oppressive and OUTMODED! collective mindset called 'mental health industry". If you are LOVING inside!... then believe me you are HEALTHY!......
Psychedelics could also greatly help facilitate people in getting off of these antidepressants more quickly and at the same time greatly reducing the suicidal tendencies and breakdowns that come with immediate and not pro-longed withdrawal.
Please watch this video if you are interested in knowing more about the Therapeutic Potential of Psychedelics and how we can create a new Psychology and new Psychiatry that actually cares about you and works..
Its all big business and mind control to keep the consumer capitalist economy bustling and keep psychiatry and doctors in business. These chemicals are carefully designed to make you numb, cold, isolated, productive, and apathetic, not to mention creatively sterile.
The potential for psychedelic psycho-therapy and medicinal and responsible use of psilocybin mushrooms to help depression/OCD/addictions/bipolar and anxiety/stress could vastly accelerate our undertanding of these issues.
Nice video! i need to show this to my sister because my 9 year old nephew was just put in a child mental institute because he joked around with someone about bringing a chainsaw to school and his teacher got a bunch of people involved and they won't let him back to school until he is "mentally well"...now his doctor said it was his ADHD meds causing his violent thoughts so they took him off that and put him on Anti-depressants...my sister is brainwashed and my nephew is now a Ginnie pig...IDK
I had a hysterectomy, within 2 weeks I had massive hot flashes.I went to the doctor (the night before I got about 2 hrs sleep because of hot flashes) the doctor asked me what medication I was on and I yelled DONT YOU WRITE THIS STUFF DOWN.She put me on prozac she said it would help with the hot flashes.
I have fallen because of being dizzy, broken bones!! Coming off of it is hell but it is a lot safer.
i have bipolar disorder and i was mis evaluated and labeled with depression and was put on remeron. for a week i was manic as shit about school i didnt sleep or eat much just studied then was the most depressed iv ever been for 2 weeks straight in which during the time i was hospitalized. if you think your bipolar dont take antidepressents theyll fuck with you
Warning; Plaster casts side effects may cause broken leg
Warning; Plasters side effects may cause cuts
Warning; penecillin side effect it could give you the flu
No this isnt the comedy channel, these are mock joke examples of where the effects of treatement are not side effects but central effects in that they are causing what they are supposed to treat, dont the above examples look rediculous, comical.
Side effect of anti-depressants admitted by FDA; Can cause suicidal tendencies
I like this video. I think that healing depression not only involves getting rid of the false ego; finding your connection with the Supreme Being, God, or whatever you wanna call it is fundamental.
I am in the state's mental health system ...they are always forcing meds on me I have been on meds for 10 yeahs I finally said no...no more antidepressents and slowly weaned myself of them and yeah I still feel depressed but I see no difference then when I was on meds and now
The number one a person with bipolar disease should run from antidepressants is because they aggravate the disorder. Your video is good, but please clarify the difference between bipolar depression and unipolar depression. You are speaking about unipolar depression, cutie. Leave the world bipolar out of it unless you're ready to talk about Lithium and Depakote and take a wild ride with Mr. Toad. Wooohoooooo!!!!!!!
You make a valid point. It´s just that today, most people with 'unipolar' depression are told that they are bipolar, so that's why I labeled it that way. I have a lot of videos on mania to (wooohooo!!) and want to do something on true bipolar depression (the kind that follows mania) but its a little too soon. IMO, the causes of this type of depression are a little more complex, and I need to do a few more videos to set up my thinking on that topic. Woohooo!
Great stuff. I deal with depression. It is very real. But meds make me stupid. It took me forever to get off Paxil. I wanted to DIE when I stopped using it. I did it with supportive friends and spirituality, and exercise. We evolved to WALK. For thousands of years we WALKED everywhere. We are designed to WALK. Vigorous exercise makes you healthy. If you don't walk or bike, you will be sick mentally. Simple but true That is proven. Much love! and WALK!!!!
man fuck depressants pills i been suffering from panic attacks for 2 years and i try to take pills for it and for my depression but nothing works so i help my ass up by working out and telling my self that life is too short for this i think anyone can make it out without taking dangerous pills and i mean i gotta admit that some depression pills can help you out feeling real great but but at times when you feel really sad it can lead to suicide from my experience sorry if i affended any one
I agree with everything you said, however anti depressants can be very benificial to SOME people. I do not argue that they are over prescribed especially to children and teenagers, a practice that I find dispicable. In my case however anti depressants (specifically lexepro) have saved my life. I have suffered from depression (as well as other things) stemming from PTSD which by the way is detectable in MRI and PET scans. My life has changed dramatically for the better.
Have you considered making a video yourself? I think what you have shared about your experience on anti-depressants is very important. If you do, lemme know! I want to post it on my channel!
I really do believe that ALL of these reasons need 2 b considered b4 taking antidepressants. Im 19 yrs old &have been taking lexapro and effexor 4 about 3years now. It has taken me this long 2 notice that these drugs made me MORE depressed. Yes i agree they do help 4 some people but getting of them is HELL. I decided 2 stop &just taking my dose down a little made me feel more suicidal & depressed than I ever felt before. It is SCARY & overwhelming
You do have a point. Pharmaceutical companies are experts in promoting antidepressants as miracle pills and there are certainly many things they hide about side effects and withdrawal in order to earn more money. But saying that antidepressants do not work at all is not accurate. They can be very helpful in some cases and even save lives. It's good to alert people about all the harms, but you must mesure your words.
No offence but your living in cloud cuckoo land pal, I'm guessing you have never suffered from chronic depression, i've been on escitalopram for over a year now, and i am telling you for a fact without my medication i would not be typing this response right now, how i remember the state i was in before i took escitalopram compared to how i feel now, and i feel so much better, i can now cope, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it, as you really have no idea what it feels. THEY DO WORK!
I´ll take that criticism. I think you make a valid point because you are speaking from your personal experience. But my question to you now is...How are you ever going to get off these medications? As soon as you do, all of the repressed feelings that you are medicating away will return, probably even stronger than before.
Hi, sorry if i was a bit sharp, was just shielding something that has saved my life, or maybe i think has saved my life, i dont know i get so confused, admittedly you do bring up a very good point about repressed feelings, and i will be honest with you, i did at one time try to stop my medication for a week, i tried so hard, it was an awful time, i could not stop crying, shaking, electric buzz like shocks going through my brain which was a very scarey sensation,
i felt even more suicidal than i did before, felt so scared for no reason, the least little noise would make me jump, i was a pathetic human beign i guess,
So i went back on my tabs, now i just feel totally numb again, but the most important thing is i can now cope again, and i guess i have to take these tabs for the rest of my life, yes i am addicted, but the main thing is i can function, while i am on them, i would rather feel this way than i did before i started the tablets.
Your talkin' shit about zoloft. I want to kick your ass. They do work, it may take awhile before you find out what is right for you. I don't believe a god damn word of this. Cognative therapy didn't work for me all that much, nor did pysch
Only thing i object to in this video is asociating school shootings and murder with extreme emotional problems and showing the picture of that prick who shot several kids!
I have almost seen all your video's and i agree with you basically 100% although i am not "bypolar" ,i have however "DID" and "PTSD" and i am never taken seriouslly especially the DID part ,my family ridicule me in the hopital they gave me a cocktail of meds i think i have had all the benzodiazepine's that excist.
right now i am trying to get of AtivanAnd i don't suffer from DID ,its just a part of me ,i wish that people would some day understand that an extreme state of mind ;Bypolar,DID PTSD etc. is there probably for a reason...
I can only speak for myself ofcourse but i think the mind has a defense Mechanism for every problem.
I made the first comment because IMO people lose their right to say well i have mental problems or i was abused in childhood after they kill os abuse children in any shape or form etc.
DID is not the same but IMO i do feel connected to you ,i am a host to several people ,i know that people think i am nuts and insane but i feel just fine this way...
And i am not stupid its a defense ,just like a girl being hit by a car ,and months after that going in to shock when a car hits the brakes!
I understand, like they can use being medicated as an excuse to kill. I get it and see your point. Of course you know that that wasn´t my point. Something about these drugs lead people into a deeper rage than if they were unmedicated, but, IMO, they are still responsible for their actions.
this is stupid. anti depressants do help people. my mom is extremely depressed & shes on zoloft & she said it changed her life. however i am bipolar so i cant take them b/c it makes me more manic.
Well, maybe she just told me that about voices only to dissuade me to stop taking Prozac, and to convince me to keep the treatment, cause I was afraid about collateral damage and was trying to quit reducing dose by my own. Anyway, I think that strategy would be irresponsible from a doctor
Very kind from you, thanks. A neurologist friend of me told me do not to take Ribotril because of its addictive effects, and an addict friend of me told me was good having lost my luggage in a travel to Belgium cause I had my Prozac in the suitcase, ja ja. My psychiatrist told me I was in danger even of hearing voices if I stoped the treatment after a year, imagine!!!
I wouldn't expect the depression to always be worse, its just that there can be a 'build up' from all of the feelings that have been blocked from the meds. I have another video, How to End Depression, that will lead to an end in any depression - but it takes introspection and heroic action on your part. You need to show some courage to live YOUR life, in spite of the consequences.
You will be fine Snarf. Good choice! It's really the long term users, 2 years or more that could suffer long term health problems and severe withdrawl effects.
because we all know the UK study was flawless, and that if the UK hires psychologists and trains them, that this proves everything you claim in this video. i wish that were true. but that's some pretty bad logic.
OK, hey, you watched 4 videos. For that, I´ll accept a little sarcasm. I would encourage you to watch your own bias. This research was extensive, and was widely reported on.
ah, well, i'm not claiming it means nothing. i just get a little annoyed b/c the anti-psych people seem to dismiss as invalid all research that opposes their views, and accept research as unbiased that supports it. of course, i think drug companies influence research, and that this research is probably less biased that way...but it's biased as well.
Yes, they were probably seeking to prove their point as well (everybody has an agenda), but the pharma's, they do it in an entirely corrupt way. Check out the links!
I am positive about the corruption there, but I'm not sure it can be escaped. Consumers don't strike me as able to be enlightened enough to resist the total control money has over our lives, especially when everything from the wall clocks to the pens in the doctor's office are emblazoned with a trade name.
My issue is that some good for many people results from this arrangement, and that alternatives are not viable without vast structural changes, on a large scale. Ach, individuals...
Many of my English students, take medications for their menstral cycle. It makes me crazy. In my opinion, psychiatry is pathologizing being a woman. Somehow it has become a pathology to become a "crazy bitch" during that time of the month. The indians just used to let you hang out in another tee-pee until your witchy behavior was over. I, for one, think we need more crazy women running around causing havoc, not less of them.
Anebt - Now you are pushing the pharma/psychiatry agenda, which I totally disagree with (I almost deleted it, but you seem nice) These drugs cause damage to your brain and many other organs. If your depression is over, I would suggest getting off them, but very, very slowly. Unfortunatly, your depression will, most likely, be the same or worse. Do youself a favor and find a way to get yourself off of these things.
You make a valid point on the severe depression end. The study did find effective short-term results for those in severe depression. I should have presented that point, instead of saying, "for most people" the meds are no better than placeboes. Are you still medicated?
Paxil has helped me, but I won't pretend that it is perfect. (I actually take a generic of Paxil.) If anything was perfect, I wouldn't be taking drugs at all. Other therapies and technique like changing diet and exercise worked, but Paxil works the best. (not depression, social anxiety disorder)
A lot of us have been tested for all these physical imbalances and when they are corrected we are getting better.I also do believe your method will help others whose issues are caused by nonphysical problems.
Can you please look at your 'research' and tell me the number of people who have been on antidepressants in the world and the number that offed themselves coming off them.....
DefeatADDnow, FYI, there is no proof at all that chemical imbalances even exist. It´s all a myth to sell drugs. And while I think good nutrition obviously helps (along with exercise, meditation, yoga, etc..), I don´t think it gets at the core issue of a true, lasting, deep depression. I explain in my video "How to End Depression".
its true that the drug companies are complete bastards that are trying to give us poison like adderall and prozac, and psychiatrists are worthelss scum who never proved chemical imbalances exist.
However, their are other doctors that have proved it through urine neurotransmitter tests and brain scan images.Curing mental issues with each individual is different.Your method would probably help a lot of ppl,but we have an epidemic of real chemical imbalances like ADD/Autism aka mercury poisoning from magazines.
here it is 2011... more and more people gobbling down the pharmaceutical drug pushers pills... JUST SAY NO !!!! to pharmaceuticals ...

Good Video!

Another thing is that this society that likes to brag about its diversity and tolerance is hopeless set on narrow definition of "normal".
venushalley 1 year ago
I agree with the big pharma advertising. They are trying to make everything as symptom of mental disorder. Are you rightfully sad that something had not worked out of you? Well, we got pill for that. Do you hate monday mornings? That is depression... People start overanalyzing their feelings and after a while they come to the conclusion there is something wrong with them.
Some people sadly want easy fix, or at least excuse for not doing with their lifes... they are afraid to live...

It is important to remember that bipolar disorder is also known as "*sshole disorder". No one likes the bipolar, except possibly the object of the bipolar person's flattery/manipulation. bipolar behaviors are not automatic due to neurotransmitter imbalance - rather, bipolar behavior is simply unethical. The real question is why does the bipolar think the rules don't apply to them? Many "normal" people have had deep depressions but did not allow themselves to become very unethical.

It all comes back to the CYP450 genes get tested before taking any of these drugs
acprgroup 2 years ago
I did. The author seemed to think the pills gave her some space to work out her problems. Maybe they did, but research shows a placebo most likely would have done the same. What healed her was a relationship with a therapist who cared.

So many people are brainwashed into believing that these drugs are truly helping, when it couldn't be further from the truth. I have gotten into arguments - has anyone else?
Oh, and the comment I made below was in response to kirklott.
missfl70 2 years ago 2
Re arguments, well my mother in law doesn't believe me. She obediently takes her drugs. She lies in bed all day long, every day, rarely getting out of her nightgown, and rarely goes out. She mostly eats cheap cereal (no protein) so now she's diabetic too. She's been this way about 40 years. I was a wreck for 10 years, but after coming down off drugs - and replacing with it diet, supplements, exercise, mood log, sunshine, meditation, prayer, gardening - I feel my best in a decade.
kirklott 2 years ago 2
That´s amazing kirk. Are you still on some meds?
bipolarorwakingup 2 years ago
Kirk,
Thats unfortunate about your m-i-l. Some people are very afraid of change, and are comfortable with how things are, no matter how unhealthy it is for them. They just cant imagine how much better their quality of life would improve if they made the necessary changes.
missfl70 2 years ago
What made you go off your meds? The first thing that got me thinking was a lady I met at a CHADD meeting, and she was very friendly and nice. She said that she did everything naturally, and that I should look into it. After being on several different meds over the years, the last straw was going off of Effexor, which was a nightmare. I then read the book, Your Drug May Be Your Problem, by Dr. Breggin, and that changed everything.
missfl70 2 years ago
I keep hearing about that book. I need to order it....today!
bipolarorwakingup 2 years ago
Yes, it's quite informative. Dr. Breggin also has a website where you can learn more about his work. He is very much anti-medication and against harmful pschological practices, such as eletroshock treatment.
missfl70 2 years ago
I know him, I just need to get to the book!
bipolarorwakingup 2 years ago
I completely agree with all that you are saying, and have also done my own research. However, I thought that normally psychiatrists do not prescribe anti-depressants for bipolar because it makes the manic side worse.
missfl70 2 years ago
From what I´ve learned so far, the anti-depressants don´t push you into mania, as they simply inhibit your serotonin levels. To be manic, you need to be fully alive! However, coming off any psych drug tends to lead you into psychosis, especially if it is done quickly.
bipolarorwakingup 2 years ago
Coming off pysch drugs can be more dangerous than going on. You must do it slowly, with careful guidance from a supportive psychiatrist. One guideline is come off in 10 increments of reducing the drug 10% (with a pill cutter if necessary), spread out over a period of time equal to 10% of the time on the drug. Also watch out for original symptoms to come back, and be ready to counteract with new strategies: great diet, supplements esp 5-HTP, sunshine, exercise, protein, meditation, prayer, etc.

Toad. Wooohoooooo!!!!!!!
jfjdsklfjlkadsfjlkad 3 years ago

My life has changed dramatically for the better.
irisphilly12 3 years ago

Have you considered making a video yourself? I think what you have shared about your experience on anti-depressants is very important. If you do, lemme know! I want to post it on my channel!
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
I really do believe that ALL of these reasons need 2 b considered b4 taking antidepressants. Im 19 yrs old &have been taking lexapro and effexor 4 about 3years now. It has taken me this long 2 notice that these drugs made me MORE depressed. Yes i agree they do help 4 some people but getting of them is HELL. I decided 2 stop &just taking my dose down a little made me feel more suicidal & depressed than I ever felt before. It is SCARY & overwhelming
amazingchinkgurl 3 years ago
You do have a point. Pharmaceutical companies are experts in promoting antidepressants as miracle pills and there are certainly many things they hide about side effects and withdrawal in order to earn more money. But saying that antidepressants do not work at all is not accurate. They can be very helpful in some cases and even save lives. It's good to alert people about all the harms, but you must mesure your words.
gsagg 3 years ago
No offence but your living in cloud cuckoo land pal, I'm guessing you have never suffered from chronic depression, i've been on escitalopram for over a year now, and i am telling you for a fact without my medication i would not be typing this response right now, how i remember the state i was in before i took escitalopram compared to how i feel now, and i feel so much better, i can now cope, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it, as you really have no idea what it feels. THEY DO WORK!
lmanxy1 3 years ago
I´ll take that criticism. I think you make a valid point because you are speaking from your personal experience. But my question to you now is...How are you ever going to get off these medications? As soon as you do, all of the repressed feelings that you are medicating away will return, probably even stronger than before.
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
Hi, sorry if i was a bit sharp, was just shielding something that has saved my life, or maybe i think has saved my life, i dont know i get so confused, admittedly you do bring up a very good point about repressed feelings, and i will be honest with you, i did at one time try to stop my medication for a week, i tried so hard, it was an awful time, i could not stop crying, shaking, electric buzz like shocks going through my brain which was a very scarey sensation,
lmanxy1 3 years ago
Those shocks you felt are a VERY common side-effect of anti-depressant withdrawl. You need to come off the meds very very slowly.
There is a link to a video about withdrawl side-effects on the right.

i felt even more suicidal than i did before, felt so scared for no reason, the least little noise would make me jump, i was a pathetic human beign i guess,
So i went back on my tabs, now i just feel totally numb again, but the most important thing is i can now cope again, and i guess i have to take these tabs for the rest of my life, yes i am addicted, but the main thing is i can function, while i am on them, i would rather feel this way than i did before i started the tablets.
lmanxy1 3 years ago
So i have just outlined two separate before and after scenarios, so obviously anti depressants do work, well fo rme anyway.

I have almost seen all your video's and i agree with you basically 100% although i am not "bypolar" ,i have however "DID" and "PTSD" and i am never taken seriouslly especially the DID part ,my family ridicule me in the hopital they gave me a cocktail of meds i think i have had all the benzodiazepine's that excist.
xXanxiusXx 3 years ago
right now i am trying to get of AtivanAnd i don't suffer from DID ,its just a part of me ,i wish that people would some day understand that an extreme state of mind ;Bypolar,DID PTSD etc. is there probably for a reason...
I can only speak for myself ofcourse but i think the mind has a defense Mechanism for every problem.
Do you agree?
xXanxiusXx 3 years ago
I made the first comment because IMO people lose their right to say well i have mental problems or i was abused in childhood after they kill os abuse children in any shape or form etc.
DID is not the same but IMO i do feel connected to you ,i am a host to several people ,i know that people think i am nuts and insane but i feel just fine this way...
And i am not stupid its a defense ,just like a girl being hit by a car ,and months after that going in to shock when a car hits the brakes!
xXanxiusXx 3 years ago
I hope you can give your opinion on "DID" !?
xXanxiusXx 3 years ago
I understand, like they can use being medicated as an excuse to kill. I get it and see your point. Of course you know that that wasn´t my point. Something about these drugs lead people into a deeper rage than if they were unmedicated, but, IMO, they are still responsible for their actions.
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
I think the mind represses what is too scary for us to feel. And what we repress comes back in another form, one way or another.

Well, maybe she just told me that about voices only to dissuade me to stop taking Prozac, and to convince me to keep the treatment, cause I was afraid about collateral damage and was trying to quit reducing dose by my own. Anyway, I think that strategy would be irresponsible from a doctor
esamidania 3 years ago
Very kind from you, thanks. A neurologist friend of me told me do not to take Ribotril because of its addictive effects, and an addict friend of me told me was good having lost my luggage in a travel to Belgium cause I had my Prozac in the suitcase, ja ja. My psychiatrist told me I was in danger even of hearing voices if I stoped the treatment after a year, imagine!!!

are the increased depression from quitting anti depressants permanent?
SnarfBanks 3 years ago
I wouldn't expect the depression to always be worse, its just that there can be a 'build up' from all of the feelings that have been blocked from the meds. I have another video, How to End Depression, that will lead to an end in any depression - but it takes introspection and heroic action on your part. You need to show some courage to live YOUR life, in spite of the consequences.
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
i was took lexapro for about two and a half weeks and quit, do you think that will have any permanent affects?
SnarfBanks 3 years ago
You will be fine Snarf. Good choice! It's really the long term users, 2 years or more that could suffer long term health problems and severe withdrawl effects.
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
do you think taking it for two and a half weeks will affect creativity or drive at all?
SnarfBanks 3 years ago
No, I think, after being off it for a few weeks you will be fine. The meds are strong, but not leathal!!!
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
when there are permanent problems, what do the symptoms entail?
SnarfBanks 3 years ago
I feel safe taking vitamin D and getting some sun everyday.

quitting therapy is a bitch as well. i'm half-joking with this message.
KungFu17 3 years ago
because we all know the UK study was flawless, and that if the UK hires psychologists and trains them, that this proves everything you claim in this video. i wish that were true. but that's some pretty bad logic.
KungFu17 3 years ago
OK, hey, you watched 4 videos. For that, I´ll accept a little sarcasm. I would encourage you to watch your own bias. This research was extensive, and was widely reported on.
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
ah, well, i'm not claiming it means nothing. i just get a little annoyed b/c the anti-psych people seem to dismiss as invalid all research that opposes their views, and accept research as unbiased that supports it. of course, i think drug companies influence research, and that this research is probably less biased that way...but it's biased as well.
KungFu17 3 years ago
Yes, they were probably seeking to prove their point as well (everybody has an agenda), but the pharma's, they do it in an entirely corrupt way. Check out the links!
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
I am positive about the corruption there, but I'm not sure it can be escaped. Consumers don't strike me as able to be enlightened enough to resist the total control money has over our lives, especially when everything from the wall clocks to the pens in the doctor's office are emblazoned with a trade name.
My issue is that some good for many people results from this arrangement, and that alternatives are not viable without vast structural changes, on a large scale. Ach, individuals...
KungFu17 3 years ago
You hit the nail on the head! My next videos will be aimed at creating vast structural changes down the road.

Framing it this way reminds me of Teach for America a bit. Anyway, looking forward to it.

I, for one, think we need more crazy women running around causing havoc, not less of them.
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
Anebt - Now you are pushing the pharma/psychiatry agenda, which I totally disagree with (I almost deleted it, but you seem nice) These drugs cause damage to your brain and many other organs. If your depression is over, I would suggest getting off them, but very, very slowly. Unfortunatly, your depression will, most likely, be the same or worse. Do youself a favor and find a way to get yourself off of these things.
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
depression causes damage as well. it's pretty lose-lose at the moment.
KungFu17 3 years ago
You make a valid point on the severe depression end. The study did find effective short-term results for those in severe depression. I should have presented that point, instead of saying, "for most people" the meds are no better than placeboes. Are you still medicated?

Pills will never heal the soul of a person! Did you hear of Color therapy? It worked for me:)
Rawvolution7 3 years ago
Paxil has helped me, but I won't pretend that it is perfect. (I actually take a generic of Paxil.) If anything was perfect, I wouldn't be taking drugs at all. Other therapies and technique like changing diet and exercise worked, but Paxil works the best. (not depression, social anxiety disorder)

A lot of us have been tested for all these physical imbalances and when they are corrected we are getting better.I also do believe your method will help others whose issues are caused by nonphysical problems.

Anti Depressants DO work. I am also on them and with out them i would have offed myself.
newmacgirl 3 years ago
Well, you haven´t offed yourself yet, but research shows that if you try and stop those meds, you are more likely to off yourself down the road.
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
Can you please look at your 'research' and tell me the number of people who have been on antidepressants in the world and the number that offed themselves coming off them.....
newmacgirl 3 years ago
My 'research' shows that, if you are under 25, the chances of committing suicide double.
The link is on the right.

Why don't you a nootropics equivalent that is safe
DefeatADDnow 3 years ago
Sorry, what did you say?
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
What I'm trying to say is that chemical imbalances are caused by nutritional deficiencies, heavy metal toxicity, candida, and hormonal imbalances.
DefeatADDnow 3 years ago
DefeatADDnow, FYI, there is no proof at all that chemical imbalances even exist. It´s all a myth to sell drugs. And while I think good nutrition obviously helps (along with exercise, meditation, yoga, etc..), I don´t think it gets at the core issue of a true, lasting, deep depression. I explain in my video "How to End Depression".
bipolarorwakingup 3 years ago
its true that the drug companies are complete bastards that are trying to give us poison like adderall and prozac, and psychiatrists are worthelss scum who never proved chemical imbalances exist.
DefeatADDnow 3 years ago
However, their are other doctors that have proved it through urine neurotransmitter tests and brain scan images.Curing mental issues with each individual is different.Your method would probably help a lot of ppl,but we have an epidemic of real chemical imbalances like ADD/Autism aka mercury poisoning from magazines.
