yeah you did and awesome job i like how u blended the kato double track road crossing into your spread i am thinking of doing that when i can save the money its adds a ton of realizum to the layout and makes it seem like there is life ...
@trackspike64 Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it. Just to clarify, I only used a single track Kato crossing on my layout. I went with the Kato grade crossing because it was very easy to set up - basically plug and go. It was rather pricey though.
MR.TRAINDUDE im also an Nscaler ... 16 trying to figure out how i can get my average flat ground layout to ... this peace of art work and its true ... Nscaling really is a relaxin hobby... lol AWESOME VIDEO
@Ikillzombies12 First of all, thanks so much for your comments! This is actually the 5th layout that I've built over the years. I consider the pervious ones either starter layouts or experimental layouts. Each time I built one I learned from my past mistakes and pitfalls. The basic things you need for a layout like the one like this is: a plan, a whole lot of time as well as a lot of money. I recommend plans like those found in Atlas model railroad books or plans in Model Railroader magazine.
@ren2020ky Thanks, I appreciate your comment. You are absolutely correct, and the possibilities are endless. That's the main reason I got into N scale.
Thank you! The layout is in 2 combined sections each measuring 4'x6' for a total size of 4'x12'. The crossing gates were manufactured by Kato and were purchased from a local hobby store about 20 years ago. I see them show up once in a while on Ebay.
Thanks for the compliments! The layout is actually in 2 sections - one from plans in an Atlas book (rural section) and the other freelanced (urban section). Working a little at a time, each section took approximately a year to build and detail. I'm still to this day adding little details here and there to make it even more interesting!
I started out in N scale in the 1970's(Rember AURORA Postage StampTrains?) built a couple of layouts too I enjoyed the video very nastalgic I model HO now but a nicely built and modeled layout like yours with multiple trains running is always cool. WELL DONE!!! Steve
Thanks for your comments, Steve! I remember Aurora Postage Stamp Trains very well. I receive a set when I was a kid for Christmas back in 1968 and I've been interested in N scale ever since. I find the hobby to be very relaxing (particularly when things turn out the way you want them to).
Hello MrTraindude. Pretty detailed layout/RR. Fellow N scaler here, Was curious about the commutor/passenger cars I saw at timeline 2:02, in silver with green. They look like 50 footer's or so. I would like to know what those are. As far as Proto and Modeler . I need some smaller passenger for a branch line, not the big Kato 85' footers. I am a year in on My layout. I see now how dedicated one must be to go from start/planinng/benchwork/wiring/replanning/rewiring,etc... lol. Enjoyed the Video
Thanks for your compliments, Na69Mach1! I needed some passenger cars to closely match the ones found on the Green Mountain RR in Vermont. The closest I could find were those you see in the video. They are approximately 60 footers and were manufactured by Arnold. I got them 20 years ago from a local hobby store that only had 2 left. I asked if they could get more and was told they were out of production and to try a train show. I found one more at a show and, sadly, haven't seen them since.
Nice layout, video and music. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome layout man. How big is it? How long did it take you to build it? Also, where did you get those crossing gates shown at 1:15?
