Reply LordMenace February 5, 2012 3:03 pm Sabotage to me is simply a masterpiece & worthy of any classic album series! It stands tall in its own unique right as an album which lures the listener into a sublime yet heavy journey of an almost insane gospel of metal & wrath. A true heavy & incredibly underrated Black Sabbath album & which in a way, makes it even that more special.
I liked "Supertzar" but didn't care too much for "Am I Going Insane", I personally thought "Insane" would have fit better on their next album Technical Ecstasy
The best album that was released in this world. From 75 until the eternity, nothing can reach this. Where is the deluxe edition? Why is Sabotage not available yet? =(
Am I going Insane (radio) is a dud. The song features Ozzy repeating the song title for over four minutes with Iommi coaxing weird feedback sounds out of his guitar that always seems to give me a headache.
"Symptom Of The Universe". The riff in this song may be Iommi's finest. It's certainly in the top five out of literaly hundreds of Tony Iommi riffs! The song writing of this song is nothing short of amazing. About four minutes into the song an acoustic guitar comes into play. The genius is it goes from really heavy in the first four minutes and then the last two minutes or so are peaceful. Awesome track.
"Blow On a Jug" was also on the Warner Bros cassette issues after "The Writ" ended. When I first heard it when I bought the cassette in May of 1995 at Strawberries for $8 (I only bought the Warner Bros issues of the original albums on cassette initially, I avoided the low budget label issues as I feared shit sonic quality) I was like "what the fuck is this". Then when I bought the WB CD I said "where is "Blow on a Jug"". Luckily it's on all remastered issues.
megalomania!!! my fav! id give anything to hear this live! the thrill of it all is another classic! and supertzar! that is one of the best as well! and "the writ" just kills! so great review man! and don't let this sabbath cd sleep on ya just because it isn't known as one of the most popular ones. if you like it gloomy and heavy and dark... yet weird... get this cd. you WILL NOT be disappointed. BEST SABBATH ALBUM EVER!!!
haha@ 2:33. geezer looks like he has a old school phone cord plugged into his bass! love it! but yeah this is my fav sabbath album. this cd just kicks so much ass its insane! and in my opinion, ozzy sounds the best on this cd than all others. he really pushes it on this cd. i could go on about this cd forever! hole in the sky is just sick! and "dont stop" is a short masterpiece by tony and OMG SYMPTOM OF THE UNIVERSE! what more needs be said. fucking perfection! and next is my fav sabbath song..
Supertzar and Am I going Insane seriously disrupt the flow of the album. Two very weak #'s. Insane is a TERRIBLE representation for the Sabotage album.
I do agree with you that Insane is a terrible--probably the worst--representaion of the album, but I think it is a necessary song on the album. I think there was no other way to lead into The Writ, than to do it with this song. I always looked at Am I Going Insane as The Writ's retarded little brother. That has helped me accept it. Plus, Bill Ward's drumming is a little curious in it as well.
@gageking97 Though I prefer Sabbath Bloody Sabbath I would say get Sabotage first. For me Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is a grower. And once it sinks in you'll be hooked! Sabotage just hits you over the head on the first listen. They both RULE!
