  • Can anyone tell me if midi Yoke & rejoice (when used) are also compatible with Virtual Dj ?

  • could you please try to make a tutorial on this stuff? would be fun :D

  • yooo, how do you get the scratching part to work so well?

  • yeah, it's possible, but pretty much pointless. you might as well just get a cheap ion icue, its like $60. the dj hero controller wasn't meant to be a midi controller, and as a result, there's a lag on the gyroscope.

  • Can't get anything to map correctly.

Please upload the settings-file or make a more in-depth tutorial or something - please!?!?

  • what about for vista? dats y ur running crap

  • ANYONE KNOW????????

ive got all the programs downloaded and i have mapped the 4 butttons but i do not know how to map the turn table table with rejoice. how do i transfer my mapped buttons to pcdj vj though? and how do i map the turn table? ANYONE KNOW????????

  • figure anything out as far as crossfading goes?

  • i guess that would work and be very cheap but it would look extremely unprofessional lol.

  • I want to see someone turn up to their local club/pub saying they are the DJ.

& they turn up with a DJ Hero Controller.

    LOL

  • Gasses I'm callin bullshit on this one srry

  • PLIIIIIIZZZZZZZZZZZ MAKE A TUTORIAL!

  • make a tutorial

  • BUTTONS IS OK BUT SCRATCH ??? PLIZ

  • BUTTONS IS OK BUT SCRATCH ?

  • i got the buttons working but how do i get the turn table working?

  • How did you get the DJ hero to connect with the pc is it through wifi of Bluetooth?

  • @hgvhdhdfhsghgshsdg wireless usb stuff on ps2. wii, and im pretty sure ps3 is bluetooth. and lucky me, the xbox 360 dj hero controllers were all demo usnits so these are hard wired usb controllers as well. i'm not use what a real xbox dj hero controller is

  • @krhymestarone i need HELP!! i can't seem to connect my DJ Hero controller (PS3) to my laptop :S

  • @krhymestarone

    plz make a tutorial

  • @krhymestarone it is run on the 2.4ghz baseband, you need the wireless receiver for pc.

  • @krhymestarone Nope ps3 is the same as ps2 controller, Including the wireless usb thing...

    Tutorial plz?

  • @krhymestarone actually the ps3 goes off of the usb thing too

  • @krhymestarone NOO! I need to know what the xbox runs off of! DX

  • you should put this in traktor. just got it myself and it has replaced my ableton live dj setup.

  • @TheDJTyler herd way good things about traktor... im gonna check it out i think. ty

  • hey ok so i got a ps3 dj hero controller and when i got to control panel windows sees it (got win 7) and when i like test it it shows what buttons i press n stuff like that but idk how to make it control the pc as like a mouse or something.

  • @GherebenR you can use a program called Xpadder

  • @DJRICKY90

i can see where you might think that bro, but i dont have 2 mice hooked up to my pc, the mouse i use is in plain sight in the front.

you wouldn't be the first person to claim this was a fake, but i assure you, i respect music and dj's too much to fake this.

finally, idgaf about cursin man. we're all adults here! FUCK SHIT DICK TITTIES CUNT BALLSAC!

    <3 ya man

  • @DJRICKY90 aw man are you serious? no no no no... i would never fake the funk yo! i take music too serious... holla man, we'll settle this :) nice channel btw

  • this is pretty sick, too bad theirs no cross fading tho, oh well, do you think this would work on Virtual DJ?

  • Motivation went out the window with your scratching skills.

  • @TheDJTyler meh, its not accurate enough to scratch effectively... i cant stress enough, this isn't practical. just nerd fun until someone can help figure out a few more errors

  • @krhymestarone how did u get midi yoke to work, i ended up going with LoopBe30

  • @TheDJTyler idk really, its weird, you gotta add the actions (for the controller) for each button or rotor movement, before you assign definitions to the actions... it wasn't too hard, but it was weird at first. basically the top box (the one that's blank) will have an entry for every possible HID action. then after you select each action and assign that to a midi function.

  • @krhymestarone i got a 64bit proces though so loop be works.

  • i heard it was possible but i didn't want to believe it, long live the 1200's

  • @thisdjdada it's possible, but not practical... your 1200's aren't going anywhere lol. :D serato ftw

  • I downloaded the same version of PCDJ, and theres no settings menu. :S Theres a config menu, but theres no MIDI options...

  • i have a xbox 360 one would it still work since there both wireless

  • i got the stuff u got how do i get this to work??

  • how can i do this plzz tell

  • dude i have that shirt haha

  • Kryhme, i installed everything but am stuck, i seriously want this thing working!! i need to get the controller to play over pcdj, but it wont auto learn.. please add me as alextherocker on skype to help with this problem or send me a PM. thx

  • does this work like a real midi deck e.g. if the jog wheel is in position A and you quickly turned it around to position B, and then slowly turned it back (the other way) to position A would the song continue from the exact same spot. please reply back

  • @donnellyadam14

nope, not at all. it measures the difference in speed change.

  • I KNEW I WASNT THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT DJ HERO CAN BE USED AS A MIDI controller

  • That's awesome. I'd like to do this but I have a cheap computer. Can you hook up two turntables. By the way thanks for the Tipsy freestyle. You really started something but everyone else sucks.

  • How do i get the platter to work? all the buttons work except the actual plater, its not reading any motion?

  • What version of PC Dj do you have. I think the new version has different midi functions. PC DJ DEX is what I downloaded.

  • @DRealRenaissanceMan huh, interesting. i have 5.1

so uh, i'll see what up with dex. never herd of it, and i have had 5.1 or a while... ty for keepin up on this too man.

  • @krhymestarone hey u ever figure this one out?

  • can you this on dj hero for xbox?

  • @papichiken No you need a usb connection

  • need help with this plzz on vdj

  • this has to happen..

im on a mac with traktor so im gonna start having a play

why hasnt any1 done this yet?????

    LONG LIVE CONTROLLERISM!!!!!!

  • can u help me set my dj hero table up with pcdj, im lost.

  • Could you please explain what you did inside the PCdj program? It should only take a sentence.

  • sorry mate, just launched a website last night, took a while to have some time to re look into this.

    1.) go to setup->remote control->

2.) right click general midi and activate it (it turns green)

3.) right click again and go to config-> add

4.) if your table is setup right pc dj will auto learn when you move the platter, + numbers for spin forwards and - numbers for spin back if you are lucky.

5.) assign the learned function to some of the various options in the "turntable" submenu.

  • whats the song?

  • its ecock by conyeezy

go to nerdcorehiphop(dot)com and search e cock. its free to dl for all!

  • thanks :D

  • hey can u make a easyer vido to follow i cant get it to work on my laptop with windows 7

  • dude im sorry, but i don't see 7 support in the future, it would be like turning 5 steps into 25...

  • really looking forward to a more in depth video or step by step, i gave up after an hour =P

  • Comment removed

  • Ok, I've worked fro hours on this and the only thing I can't figure out is what command you put into PCdj or Vdj for it to map to the scratching... If this is a real video, than it would be appreciated that the author can just post the word he put into the command screen...

  • i think the only problem now is figuring out the correct drivers to map all the buttons, fader, and platter...

did someone say they got the fader working?

  • DRealRenaissanceM how did u do tht??

  • I've been researching the actions on VDJ and it seems there's no way to map a turntable that goes up and down without a timecode / supported Midi driver... Im going to be making a reply video soon to detail how far i got and try to help the ones lost to understand exactly what to do.

  • how do u hook it up on your Vdj program??

  • i finally got the turntable to respond correctly, but it wont map to the scratching in VDJ. What action did you put in in the CONFIG menu. (ex. crossfader, scratch +120ms, etc.)

  • If its not fake, then can you elaborate on how to set up the Z axis scratching... i always get a positive z in rejoice and i cant get it to differentiate directions of spin.

  • here's what i've noticed (although someone else who posted in the comments has expanded and they believe they have a more reliable way then this to get negative readings)

i was able to get negative values by moving the platter faster in the negative direction.

what i think we learned is its a measure of the SPEED of movement NOT the direction apparently. Somehow going the negative direction slowly creates positive results, but quickly yields negative ones...

idk y tbh... the vid is NOT fake

  • someone please help me set up the effects dial and crossfader in rejoice

  • that was SO Fake

  • rofl... ok

  • Hey, I can now map the Z axis but it is always positive...

For those having trouble with getting the Z axis to show up on Rejoice, go to control panel > game controllers > and follow the calibration directions under properties... The DJ Hero controller pops up as a guitar hero 5 controller (LOL)... this exaggerates the values for the turntable and allows rejoice to pick it up.

  • Someone please make a tutorial on how to set this up in vdj or pcdj dex (preferably vdj), I have to resort to Xpadder to scratch and I wouldprefer not to, and I would also like to know how to set up the crossfader and effects knob.

    Thanks!

(Oh and is it even possible to make the 3 buttons on the controller not be connected to the other buttons (like on a ps3, square and crap.)

  • can you write a tutorial on how to do this in vdj?

  • K i got it working, but instead of scratching it just like speeds up the song when i rotate.

  • I give up on this, I cant figure out how to set it up, I can get the buttons but not the cross fader, effects dial or the turntable to do anything

  • ok, so here's what i've got so far. i have a setup completely different (more noobish way), since i have no idea how to us Midi Yoke and Rejoice. i'm using XPadder to have the disc on the PS3 DJ Hero controller emulating the mouse and the euphoria button emulates the mouse click. i'm then using GlovePIE to turn the mouse sensitivity. however, since VirtualDJ's platter movement gets less sensitive as the mouse moves away from the platter, i'm pretty limited as to how far i can move the platter.

  • everyone here is doing awesome! we should really organize this on a forum or something.

also i just got 3 xbox 360 demo units. they all are hardwired usb turntables, i have no driver support yet, but i just plugged this one in 1 minute ago tbh. it read as a GH5 wired DJ. so it's got recognizable data in it. :)

the usual 360 units are wireless right? what driver did you use RARELY HARDCORE GAMER?

  • Comment removed

  • The 360 units are wireless and connect to a PC using the official x360 wireless gaming receiver ($20).

You can find the drivers for that device on the web, windows update or the disc it comes with.

  • hey does anyone know how to get the ps3 controller to even be detected? i've tried getting it detected by both the latest GlovePIE and Xpadder. but no luck. :( the only program i got it to work with was the built in device detector in Halo.

  • Try using this:

    crunchgear.(com)/2009/01/13/new-xp-and-vista-drivers-allow-you-to-use-your-ps3-controller-on-your-pc/

  • hey im working on this but i get to the rejoice config and i add the buttons it looks like this

    button: 2 channel: 1 controller:8 low0 high 127

for each button. however , in pcdex it doesnt work,

can some one show a tutorial for this, also do i need to open midiyoke somehow?

  • I am using the x360's turntable and Xpadder to display input and it shows that everything works.

Axis Y is used for the Turntable speed and direction.

Axis Ry is used for the Crossfader position.

Axis Rx is used for the Effects Dial.

The 3 Stream Buttons have the same value as the face-buttons but also an Axis Z value.

    DPad + Back/Start & Face-buttons are simply buttons.

Euphoria is the button that isn't used for the Stream (Y on x360). Rumble triggers the Euphoria light.

  • come through man, i got a question!

  • plz give me download links to get this working -----

    can this work on vdj

  • I've never been this noobish at anything... EVER! So please, I really need help getting the controller to work with some dj program. x)

I've plugged it to the computer, midi-ox, rejoice and midi-yoke recognize and register the movements, but I have no clue what to do from that point.

  • the software is messing you up, the top rejoice window is blank, you gotta set up the actions there, im saying you got it all workin, just look at that screen harder. You are almost there... you make a action and a definition and then you 'add' the definition, basically if your using 3 buttons you need 3 definitions up top, i think i have like 5 or six mapped out atm.

  • Hey man!

I've got some nice stuff going on cant wait to upload a video but... I NEED to know how to get the platter going, using same software except vdj

  • I'm going to try this with vdj

  • Could u post a download link with the rejoice config file? I came to realize that it didn't work with Virtual DJ so I have no downloaded everything in your list. :)

  • To make it work better, set it up so that it pauses the track when you press one of the buttons on the platter and plays when you release it. That way, you scratch by pushing one of the buttons, moving the platter, and release the button instead of having to use both hands.

  • Looks fake.

  • rofl

  • How do you se the record/scratch in it?

  • How do you map the rudder (record scratch) in rejoice? I get the values going up and down in the bottom right but I can't assign it?!

  • in rejoice you gotta map each individual channel, if you made it that far you are almost there. the platter movement is a "measure of the change in velocity" apparently so keep that in mind. when you give it a good "scratch" it will register + for forward or - for backward. oddly, if you only move it a tiny bit it only registers as + no matter the direction.

you are close man, good job!

  • How do I get my PC to see a wireless DJ Hero Controller?

  • plug t it, it shows up as a HID device, although the more research i do, im gonna need a different driver to get the fader working...

hid input device is the default xp choice, and the one i used in the video

  • get the microsoft xbox 360 wireless reciever (not the router for multiplayer) theres loads on ebay at the minute or amazon. between £17 and £25. i use it to connect a normal xbox controller to control ableton.

  • What is it you're talking about? I have DJ Hero for the 360 and ableton.

  • How did you get the DJ Hero controller to work with Ableton?

I've never been these newbie at anything... EVER! So please, I really need help getting the controller to work with some dj program. x)

I've plugged it to the computer, midi-ox, rejoice and midi-yoke recognize and register the movements, but I have no clue what to do from that point.

  • Is that in response to me? If so I'm sorry but you have misunderstood me. I meant I have both DJ Hero and the program Ableton so I too would be interested in a way to make them work.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm liking what you've got going on so far, I'm pretty much trying to use the DJ Hero controller as an instrument myself

Do you think there's a way of making the buttons play notes and having the platter function as some sort of pitch shifter (like on a keyboard)

  • pleaseeee a step by step tutorial

  • nice man, so the platter sends a joystick message to rejoice and rejoice converts that to a midi cc that gets sent out midi yoke out (virtually) and back into PC DJ via yoke's midi in? ... The crossfader isn't registering as a midi "device" at ALL or - it's showing activity when you throw the fader but not letting you assign or convert it? Have you tried anything other that Rejoice? We tried that one but ended up using one called Midijoy- which is archaic but worked for us on flight sticks.holla

  • busyframes has the right idea yall...

    dead on whats happening.

we need better joystick drivers. ones that will do rudder (for the platter) and if we're lucky a throttle for the fader... although i am willing to bet those cheap skates at dj hero are just using a 2 or 3 way switch as a fader rather then an actual positionable fader that can register values beyond on and off.

oh well, even if we get the fader working as a cutoff switch then we're all good

oh, and i have midi joy too... ;)

  • Can you assign the crossfader as an "analog axis"?

Another idea, (alot more more work) hack and use a HID pcb.

  • @krhymestarone the fader doesnt measure velocity just when you hit the note so ye its probably just an on off switch, the platter however might be a different matter, im thinking it could be used to control effect depth or other parameters, depending on which programme you are using obviously. it will be simple to do with ableton.

  • the fader on the 360 controller is linked to the Y rotation axis, i've found.

  • please, tell me how this works

    pleeeeaaaaaassssseeeee

  • could you please post a tutorial on how to o this /

  • the buttons work fine, its the dial and the fader that don't register

  • Hello m8 is DJ hero able to play on PC too??need an asnwer please cos i am planing to buy it

  • do any of the other buttons work, or is it only the platter so far?

  • scratch on stage and game at home... sick shit man =3

  • how do you plug the turntable into the pc?

  • ps2 and ps3 tables are wireless and come with a usb reciever. very simple setup

  • @krhymestarone

    you want a cross fader?

go buy a midi one, I think m-audio has one

and midi it up into the program, and you got ur midi cdj turntables

is that thing pretty accurate, as in one full spin on the disk equals one spin on the program?

looks like a good idea, cheap ass cdj, better than spending 500 on one

  • you get ultimate kudos for being a groundreaking motherf****r! This has gotta be an awesome midi controller, lets see some more work on this.

  • Hey, that's a CSHC song. :D

  • Could you put up a guide of what you did to get this all to work. I assume your doing it the same way with assigning keys to action \s but i cant figure out what keys scratch bck and forth

  • using the standard xp joystick driver the platter is interpreted as a rudder.

any more questions holla at me! im a net kid and am always around...

  • Salute!

  • Great vid!

Do you reckon you could post some actual ps2 gameplay footage though?

I haven't even found a single screenshot online and I'd love to know if it will be worth it on my old system.

    Thanks man

  • Its totally worth it on ps2. You get all the music, the same controller and you save about a hundred bucks. I wrote a review at gamerators(dot)com but you wont see any ps2 shots. The review was for a week advance demo 360 unit i was given, and later adapted to the ps2 port . The biggest differences were between the demo version vs the release version, NOT the 360 vs PS2.

The graphics are a bit different, the crowd is made of sprites instead, but who buys these games for the graphics...

  • Sweet, I'll make sure to pick it up.

  • Awesome!
