@hopeinsf "I killed the replay button." -- I've never noticed this being articulated as such and thought it deserved the effort of my recognition. Good for you!
hate to be the one to say this... but i dislike it. when he was in archers of loaf, it was pure fucking genius, the passion in his voice in the original, is gone....as well as he changed his style of singing which doesnt appeal to me at all. im glad to see this guy is still playing, but i wouldnt go out of my way to see him.
@wicryeker Bingooo took me ages..forgot utube wont let us post links but heres the sight: beemp3.com and look up eric bachmann web in front..right click the dl link and save as into any folder =D
BEAUTIFULLY done. I don't like covers if it's just the same song, just a different singer. I have much more respect for artists that can take a song and make it a completely different song, that to me is a cover.
Love it..... Just as much as the original which I'm jamming it right now but i think it would of rocked better if he played chords it would add more inner soul to it I think..... Make it mean a lot more.... I mean the electric version the vocals are amazing
yall throw up the best comments here ....yever find yerself lookin up some stupid mainstream song cause its got some undeniable hook you cant sluff from yer head.and you find yourself confronted with that genres demographic??? its like a slap in the face ... you guys rock though...cool to see some younger people getting into AOL and Bachmann.....hes a genius if youve never seen the guy hes like 6'4 with huge hands that you wouldnt think would be so nimble.. but they are
I can tell you about the end... Chapel Hill is not a city where people move, but the floor of the cradle flexed like the goddamn world was imploding, and no one cared.
The sense of the passage of time that this version provokes in those of us who were there in the first place is a little overwhelming. At least I'm guessing a few others might agree.
@jpietron : Wow! Yeah, you said it just right. Eric has lived a hard life all these years but continues to age gracefully, methinks. Great fellow, great songwriter.
Love this song! Always have.
But Jeez, what the hell is he talking about?

a song that can be played with just voice and guitar, and still be powerful.

This is far superior to the original version. Why wasn't this song originally recorded acoustically?

Well said jpietron. I remember driving hours to see this performed back in the day. We're all a little older but it still brings a smile

unfortunately i wasn't there for the original.
actually i was (on earth at least). i'm 26 at the moment, and i've only recently gotten into the archers...
... this version KILLS the original as far as i'm concerned. there has to be something said about the passage of time. it just makes it hit harder.
