  • wow this review is sorta bad. the controls did take some getting used to but once i did this game is really fun especially with a friend

  • well why didnt you buy the twin stick controller then lol

  • awesome game,me and my bro would play this for hours doing every move on the game without a problem.just get used to the controls and this is the best most hectic fighting game out there

  • the saturn version was better

  • Stopped watching after a minute...worst review ever! I've seen other "bad" game reviews out there where they KNOW what the hell they are talking about. This...is just killing time.

  • you guys are fucking retarded... this game is fucking awesome, and you can change the controls, and its made to be played with twin sticks...

you guys suck, its an awesome game, and an awesome port... fuck you

  • How long did you play the game? Yes the controls take awhile to get used to, but the twin sticks did as well.

  • this game is awesome, the controle could be more like the older saturn game, but with a litle train and timing it makes a lot of fun

    especially in multiplayer

  • dude, the controls actually aren't that bad. You guys are blowing this WAAAAY out of proportion. I personally played this on dreamcast and I had fun with it. The controls are fine on dreamcast. I haven't played it on saturn, but I don't think the controls were killed when they ported it.

  • VIRTUAL ON IS SERIOUS BUSINESS. Jesus christ, biased fanboys coming out of the woodwork to prop this BAD game up. Oh no, it could never be that the game has problems, it's ALWAYS the player. It doesn't matter if the Game Room likes the series, they just HAVE to like EVERY SINGLE GAME IN THE SERIES, else they're not true gamers! Jesus, go fester on your message board some more you whackjob Virtual On fanboys.

  • Actually, no. Most VO fans hate MARZ with a passion.

The thing is, Oratorio Tangram is the best in the series. So yeah, people get touchy. Don't take the high road until YOUR favorite game gets dissed, and you can respond in a mature manner (by which I mean, better than you're doing now).

  • I gotta agree. The graphics and soundeffects are awesome, but the controls are annoying as hell, to say the least.

  • I dunno , but the Controls of the game pissed me off. It May be a good game, but the Control scheme could have been a lot Easier

  • Wasn't there a twin stick for the Dreamcast? How does that make the controls so hard?

  • It doesn't. The problem is, the Twin Stick controller was never released outside of Japan.

  • Well, ok, this is old, but geez. The gameplay on this game does not produce any clipping! Well, the official GD-roms dont anyway. If you are experianceing any, your using a pirate copy. Second, whats so bad about the controller scheme? Granted, it's no twinstick, but it's managable. If your major gripe is about the controlls, then that just means your ability to adapt to controlls is lacking. Also, don't gripe at Activision, they mearly localized the game for the states.

  • These Gamem Room video gamers ha ha...so they say...are completely off the park here. It is a case of they have absolutely no clue what they are talking about...this is one of the best games ever made....the way they trash it shows they kiddie stylee give me easy games mama quick attitude...stick to zit zapping dudes...

  • lol, and they need to work on their language/vocab too.

  • This game would go great with the playstaion duel shock analog sticks. I wish they would sell more arcade port collections like Midway Arcade Treasures.

  • The only problem in the game controls is rotating, and that`s due to a lack of accuracy in the joystick. But you don`t need to rotate when the game turns your automatically during a dash attack or when you jump. Next time you put that game in, wait for the tutorial video.

  • These guys have no idea what there talking about, I have this game and I have played it for hours. Theres nothing wrong with it. Learn how to give a descent review and maybe sound alittle professional without the bad language.

  • If they really played this game, you`d think they would have seen the tutorial video that plays when you sit at the title menu. They didn't even do a dash attack in any of the videos, which is an AUTOMATICALLY aimed attack. Wouldn't that count as "locking"?

  • *angelic choir starts singing "HALLELUYAH"*

seriously, these are the kind of people I think ruin game reviews, because they get stuck at "press start"

  • To be completely honest, I love all my Dreamcast games but i really don't understand these controls =D

  • Are you kidding!?!? The "slowdown" on the replays is obviously intentional-- everything else is a clean 60 FPS the entire way, something that a lot of PS2 games of similar genre couldn't managed.

  • This is the biggest load of absolute nonsense I've watched in ages. You really should learn how to play something before you humiliate yourselves like this. Oratorio Tangram's mechanics are based on Twinsticks and allow lightning-fast, pin-sharp precision and perfect depth of control. This is the internet FFS - how difficult would it have been for you to simply read about the game or learn from someone you can play before dropping this insulting rubbish?

  • The review was based off of the game with the standard Dreamcast controller (from the year 2000). If a twin stick controller was needed to properly play the game, and we knew one was available and cost us more money, we'd have slammed it even harder... Just like we bashed Perfect Dark into the ground for requiring an expansion pack. Virtual On may be a great game, but with the standard controller you'd never know this.

  • I gotta disagree. VOOT was... IS one of my favorite Dreamcast games of all time, and I never played it with anything but the standard DC controller.

And VO MARZ on the PS2 was totally unplayable, even when you try to emulate the Twinstick or even the DC control scheme. I have no idea why, it disappointed the hell out of me when I bought it.

  • Me too...it just didnt feel right...not to mention that most of the VR's got nerfed...

  • You guys don't know anything about playing Virtual On. Why don't you ask the hardcore fans of the series? A better question is why don't you travel to Japan and play Virtual On against Japanese opponents? Hardcore Virtual On players take the game seriously, while you are drowning yourselves with irrelevent crack jokes...

  • There's nothing irrelevant about crack jokes, except maybe misspelling the word irrelevant.

  • Yes, I made a typo on irrelevant. But still, I stand by my comments about taking the game seriously.

  • "Why don't you ask hardcore fans"

Um... because hardcore fans are usually a bit biased.

  • These guys haven't played the game long enough. There's no sense to the crit.

"Classic Game Rooms"- is utter bullshit.

Can't rotate, jump cancel. Jump cancel defeats the purpose of rotating. You dash attack, it basically auto-tracks for you. Don't bash a game officially unless you have valid points to makeup. IMO Dreamcast controls were easy and intuitive.

That game forever belongs in my top charts. OT is just as fun as VO 1.

  • kewl

  • I'm supposed to take this seriously when :38-:53 is crap pulled out of someone's ass and they both repeatedly acknowledge they don't know anything about the game? How is a game that runs at 60FPS "choppy"? Slowdown on REPLAYS? SEGA did that to show the kill. Button layout is one thing, but unresponsive controls? Bull. Can't turn? Remember jumping in the first one? "They all look the same." Do they play the same? Failed to mention that. Play a game for more than three minutes before bashing it.

  • Virtual On fandom is serious business. How dare they like the Virtual On series, but not as much as you obviously do.

  • These guys are morons. If they knew their info, they'd understand that Activision merely brought the game to america, but didnt have a part in designing it. And this game was amazing for the DC, even with a controller. It was the fastest and it responded lightning quick.

  • VIRTUAL ON FANDOM IS SERIOUS BUSINESS

  • Wait, the game has great control if you either have a dreamcast twin stick or a saturn twin stick converter!

  • I can't even find one on eBay. According to them, the game was great on the saturn, though, and the regular contoller didn't even have one analog stick.

  • ^

    | What he said, damn right!

  • damn right

  • Wow, is that an Atari joystick with the fire button on the right hand side?

All the ones I ever owned were always on the left, pain in the ass for me as i'm a south paw.

  • bring back the game room!
