Well, I live in the Netherlands, and my mother lives in the US, and when I compare the two systems, I'm ready to drop to my knees and thank whoever runs this universe that I live in a country with a good healthcare system.

Health Insurance Bill of 1883, Accident Insurance Bill of 1884, and Old Age and Disability Insurance Bill of 1889(a.k.a Social Security), these were all long before Hitler; taking away her vote would be a Nazi ideology.

No one just says "GIMME." Many people are born in circumstances much less favorable than your own, or develop chronic conditions and cannot be covered. And yes, youre right anybody can walk into an ER. Unfortunately that isnt preventative medicine and actually wastes a lot of money. Plus this drives many people into debt. If everyone is covered it saves the system money as doctors can prevent instead of only treat conditions. This is why the US is inefficient and spends a lot on medicine.

We should be careful in studying the systems of France, UK, etc. and learn from those systems pluses and minuses. It should be clear however that some sort of universal system is desired as market health care leads to waste, and unfairly harms those with little capital and/or chronic conditions. While some European systems do have downsides, we should craft a health care system taking the significant pluses of their systems with the pluses of our current one, i.e. innovation

This bill is for the purpose of legalizing and taling outside the control of elected officials the responsibility for diminishing care for most. Plus you can call reforming health care anything you want, "socializing," I dont care. But if youre relying upon merely ideology to reach a conclusion then thats a huge disservice. The current system clearly doesnt work. It needs reform. What that reform should be is up to debate, but we can craft an effective system by learning from the mistakes of our systems and that of others. With no bias involved, most people could agree that many European countries have better care in certain areas.
I wish Republicans did this kind of research in and utilized the same rational thought they claim to have when it came to gauging whether or not America should have pre-emptively invaded Iraq over false claims.

You're right about her being a LaRouche cult member, but when 55% of the nation (maybe more) is against this health plan, it's hard to imagine them as all "right-wing fascists" as you say. Obama won with about 55% of the vote, which tells me a lot of people against this plan are very moderate.

I don't know where you got that statistic, but I think you pulled it out of your ass, because fully 70% of Americans say it is "immoral" to retain a medical system that doesn't cover all citizens, & with respect to President Obama, he won the largest majority for a presidential election in U.S. history. Statewide percentages for Obama were in the 93-50% range, McCain however was 66-49% range, with the total being 46 to 53%. Obama had 67M votes, McCain only had 58M votes. Sorry guess again.
Also, as for your comments about the election. I said Obama won 55-45 (again, I said about that) and he won 53-46...good job for proving me WAY wrong /sarcasm. As for winning with the largest majority, yeah, he did, and you have to take into account that the US population increases substantially with every census.
Yes, but you conveniently ignored my numbers on the ranges that Obama won by. My point was that where he won, he won overwhelmingly in most cases, with a larger number of states going for Obama. And in contradistinction, where McCain won, he won by much lower margins of victory, and in much fewer states. Sorry, but I still think that 67M votes is a mandate. The total votes cast were still way below the entire voting-age possibles, so there were still a lot of people who didn't, or didnt care to.
Is Obamacare the same as the T4 Euthanasia program? No. Does that mean Obamacare is good for the average American? Government and private co-existing in the same market actually works quite well for higher education. State universities are popular as are private universities. Offering a public insurance alternative will be a good thing for Americans. And despite Medicare and VA weaknesses, they do provide coverage to those, like my mother, that would otherwise have nothing to pay for hundreds per month in prescriptions.

Medicare and SS are government Ponzi schemes. Both programs will soon be bankrupted by the Baby Boomers. Almost all the Republicans in Congress will not vote for healthcare reform that includes a public health plan, that's not being evil, that's just what they actually believe. Most Democrats will not vote for something unless it INCLUDES a public health plan. That's simply a split in ideology, not unwillingness to compromise.

Otto von Bismarck helped create the health care system in the late 19th century. Health Insurance Bill of 1883, Accident Insurance Bill of 1884, and Old Age and Disability Insurance Bill of 1889(a.k.a Social Security), these were all long before Hitler; taking away her vote would be a Nazi ideology.

And yes, youre right anybody can walk into an ER. Unfortunately that isnt preventative medicine and actually wastes a lot of money. Plus this drives many people into debt. We should be careful in studying the systems of France, UK, etc. and learn from those systems pluses and minuses. It should be clear however that some sort of universal system is desired as market health care leads to waste, and unfairly harms those with little capital and/or chronic conditions. While some European systems do have downsides, we should craft a health care system taking the significant pluses of their systems with the pluses of our current one, i.e. innovation

You're right about her being a LaRouche cult member, but when 55% of the nation (maybe more) is against this health plan, it's hard to imagine them as all "right-wing fascists" as you say. Obama won with about 55% of the vote, which tells me a lot of people against this plan are very moderate.
I think what you really want to say is that anyone who disagrees with the health reform is a nutcase. And if you really think that, realize this is America and not everyone agrees with you.

I don't know where you got that statistic, but I think you pulled it out of your ass, because fully 70% of Americans say it is "immoral" to retain a medical system that doesn't cover all citizens, & with respect to President Obama, he won the largest majority for a presidential election in U.S. history. Statewide percentages for Obama were in the 93-50% range, McCain however was 66-49% range, with the total being 46 to 53%. Obama had 67M votes, McCain only had 58M votes. Sorry guess again.

Yes, but you conveniently ignored my numbers on the ranges that Obama won by. My point was that where he won, he won overwhelmingly in most cases, with a larger number of states going for Obama. And in contradistinction, where McCain won, he won by much lower margins of victory, and in much fewer states. Sorry, but I still think that 67M votes is a mandate. The total votes cast were still way below the entire voting-age possibles, so there were still a lot of people who didn't, or didnt care to.

Government and private co-existing in the same market actually works quite well for higher education. State universities are popular as are private universities. Offering a public insurance alternative will be a good thing for Americans. And despite Medicare and VA weaknesses, they do provide coverage to those, like my mother, that would otherwise have nothing to pay for hundreds per month in prescriptions.

I live in Australia and a government run health care system is all I know. I've never lived in the united states but I have heard absolute horror stories concerning health care, concerning people not being treated because of not having the right coverage.
Having a government health care system nation wide Isn't the Nazi like regime that seems to be painted here. I think that living a free country especially a developed one, a government run and funded health care should be a given.

Almost all the Republicans in Congress will not vote for healthcare reform that includes a public health plan, that's not being evil, that's just what they actually believe.
