  • I'm currently working on my own manga. Should I use screentones?

  • @SpavVy1993 depends on what u want that ur manga looks like ^^

there's a lot of mangas who only use hatching or just black white areas :3

Just try it out or read some mangas or comics and decide what will better fit to ur drawing style ♥

  • how many hours did you spend in toning one page?

  • @17MiharuFujiwara for toning a sigl page I need an half - 4 hour, depend on how much dedails I had drawing on he pages. But usually I still need 2 h ^^

  • What tool do you use to color in large amounts of black area in a manga?? : D plz answer! Thank you! :D

  • @xneKoAlcHeMisTx I use several pens for example Copic Marker Wide ^^

  • @visious14 Thank you so much : D

  • Awesome... God bless people like you... you're the beeessstaaaah !!! :)

  • Excellent work, bravo!

  • They put an effort every single page..

    It's awesome

  • This is awesome, respect to someone who dose it the old way.

  • im sorry i have a couple questions, im new to creating manga and ive seen a couple tools that i dont no what they are or do. that tool that has feathers at the end. can you tell me what it is i duno what it does and well the internet hasnt helped in telling me what it is. i cant find anywhere that explains the tools. also were did you get your screen tones. one last question. what size paper are you using and is it a special type of paper if so were could i get it. thank you for uour time

  • @tehnozzi @ajandclover that tool is called feather sweeper. you use it to sweep eraser dust. deleter-mangashop have those and a lot more manga tools. just type it in your address bar.

  • @jcelbob thank you so much.. you have no idea how happy i am right now. ive been looking for months trying to find somewhere i can buy good manga equipment. as the stuff on ebay seemed a bit dodgy. thank you again for helping

  • what's this manga called?

  • @silverstar145 @silverstar145 this manga is called "grimoire" --> more infor you can find here: ^^

    chasm-project. com

grimoire-manga . com (only in german)

  • This is not useless...It's the real thing~ heheeh :) thanks for uploading this :)

  • what is that feather pen at the start, what type of feather and how can i get one? they're really cool but really annoying to find, bakuman feather pen ^^ looks awesome

Thanks for the screentone sort of tutorial, i didnt know what it was before then, was the tone stuck down before hand or did you use a tool to stick it down after cutting it?

  • @tehnozzi whooo I don´t the english name for that. I guess it is called feather brush. U use this to clean ur mangapages from the screentone dust, which will be arise when u scrapping effect in the tones with ur cutter ^^

hmm where u can get one? Deleter . com eBay or maybe akadot . com???

I use my hand and also a tool named tone hera for sticking the tones on the page :3

But u can also use a ruler xD

  • so just wondering when cutting the screentone how do you not cut through the paper

  • @SONofaJAY just enough practise xDDDD

  • I prefer touch up tone technique on pencil... then later add darken it on computer, saves time for me..... anyways.. I still do the traditional style... nothing can take away the quality, conviction and heart of an authentic hand drawn manga, to say the least... as they say.. practice builds up talent.. XD

  • too fast XD

  • @azieykyoya18 sorry ^^° I plan a slower and better version how to work with screentones when I finished my current manga series this year :3

  • Podrías seguir subiendo? =3

  • @XDlokasdeamerica Sorry I can´t read ur question ;O; I only speak german and a little bit english ;O; Sorry

  • one question, what is the serve of this feather appears on the beggining of the video???(srry the bad english i brazillian)

  • @Wendellfreire987 whooo I don´t the english name for that. I guess it is called feather brush. U use this to clean ur mangapages from the screentone dust, which will be arise when u scrapping effect in the tones with ur cutter ^^

  • ARE U INSANE !!! ( i mean from good side) But still that work u do is way 2 difficult and one more thing ITS wERRY NICE ART WORK !!!!!! abouth your skills im jealous :)

  • @albasfate thx so much ;O;

  • HI I NEED YOUR HELP im trying to buy screen tones but the cheapest ones i can get are letraset for three dollars...what type of screen tone brand did you buy if it was letraset does it come in good amounts?

  • @oOoOMEGAMIOoOo normaly u have got screentones not under 4,5$ ^^° ( the good screentones from japan) I prefere Deleter and IC Screen. Those tone brand are the best but IC Screen is really... expensive but they had some special tones deleter don´t produce anymore T__T

  • may i ask where can i get screentones?

  • @7SuperTitan google blueline art

  • @7SuperTitan hmm deleter . com or try akadot . com :3 I have my personal store in Germany I can order my special Screentones but I know those online stores has screentones ^^

  • do you hand write your text in or do you do that on a computer?

  • @paradoxicalART the first text i had write down by hand in my storyboard. ;3 the final text will be put with an gaphic programm like InDesing in the final pages ^^

  • Holy fuck. I can't be a Mangaka, I'm not talented enough O.0.

  • @Nastia179 to be honest... I think that i´m nod good enough to be a mangaka every day. Please don´t give up and fight for ur dream. So you can made it if u really want :3 Good Luck

  • Awesome. O_O

  • wow....

  • does that hurt your hands after a while??

  • @RoseberiAMV not really. My hand hurts only when I do the clean skecthes of my mangapage xDDD

  • incrivel , explendido qual são os materiais que vc usou ?

  • @923betto I´m sorry I only can read german or english ;_;

  • i was like : this is awesome * o *

  • @lauritka123 thx >///>

  • Wow! I love how you draw!! How do you add the text to the bubbles though??

  • @xneKoAlcHeMisTx The Text will added with for example InDesing by an graphics designer. The graphc designer get the text from me and put them in the bubbles, like I had told him ^^ It is the usuall way for comics or mangas :3

  • If I may ask, how hard is it to use screen tone? To me it looks relatively but not too difficult, it just looks like a long pain staking process. Any answer is greatly appreciated.

  • @TheAwesomeMrTroy For using real screentones is really simple. U only need some practise. :3

  • Isnt there other ways to do this besides cuting out the screen cant u use computer

  • @darknessfallss1 I could work with computer but why I should do it? I work on the traditional way like japanese mangaka ^^° and I have more fun with that. It´s liek I would aks why poeple color with copics/ water colors... and not with Photoshop/ Computer :)

  • @darknessfallss1 the halftones and the the lines look very differently from digital and traditionally done manga. I prefer traditionally done for some reason, And I know a lot of the manga series that a lot of people read, are done traditionally. You can probably tell the difference too if you take a good look at them.

  • @darknessfallss1 I could use my computer but I don´t use it ^^° Every people has other favourites way to work on her own stuff. So I have coose my one without computer :)

  • your art is amazing

  • if u use screentone for trees on one page of the manga do u den hve to use the screentone for trees on every part of manga

  • @sassuke417 ^not everx part. But it´s like hair. If I have a special hairton for a charactere it would not that good if I would change the kind of that tone during the manga ^^

  • y were u using blue lead feather brush

  • lmfao was that a cat that walked across?!

  • @BrokenWingsKai yes it´s my kitty ^^

  • I can't seem to do this without cutting the paper , I use only the deleter screentone knife though , is that a problem ?

  • @AicentBlaichez you only need to graze it very lightly. the toning is very thin. also it helps to have proper manuscript paper/deleter paper as it is a thick paper and harder to cut through......just be very light, barely apply pressure.

  • @BrokenWingsKai I am using 135 kg paper from deleter it is b4 and type A. Oh well I will try harder !

  • @AicentBlaichez well on the plus side...at least you`d end up with neat character cut outs XD

  • @BrokenWingsKai true :D

  • Do you peel the screentone off after you've pushed down hard for the last time? Do the dots transfer or do you leave it there?

  • @TheToiim its takes a lil while to get the hang of, but once you`ve finished cutting, use the knife to gently hold down the pieces you want to stay (at the edge). at the same time, peel away the rest of it then lay down some paper and use the screen tool to flatten the tone. (you use the paper to stop any damage to surrounding tone).

im not sure what you mean about the dots. (btw, im not her or nearly as epic lol but im just helping out)

  • @TheToiim for leaving the dots on the paper... I guess I know what you mean. There are really special screentone you can transfer the dot on the paper with rubbing. But these screentones are realy... rare. Usually the normal screentones will be leave on the paper on a transparent foil ^^

  • I like your cat.

  • That was 9 mins and 5 seconds of my face like OAO You're incredibly talented and it was very interesting to watch! How did you learn to do screen toning? It looks like your lining and scratching, the whole process must take so much patience! Do you know where I could get some screen tones (and a tutorial) to practice? Do you only use screen tones on manuscript paper/finished product or do you practice too? Sorry for all the questions, I'm so curious! x"3

  • @KissVirgin09 I learnd all stuff by myself. for international order you can use akadot dot com or the official homepage from deleter xDDD other tutorials I don´t know but I planned some new vids ^^ I still use comic book paper from deleter to work on my pages :)

  • you have talent :D

  • What a lovely drawing and style :)

  • OMG that's AMAZING !!! O____O i heard screentones are REALLY expensive O_O

  • @xoxoxoLOVELESSxoxoxo only 16$ ^_^ for every 4-5 sheets

  • @xoxoxoLOVELESSxoxoxo yeahh there are expenive ;________; I I need to spend mony to get them xD

  • thats so cool! do u have a art blog? deviant art?

  • wow thats really good. I have to give you props for screentoning by hand, after awhile I would lose my patience ^^

  • 0:52 CAT!!!

  • @Gasten400 i thought i was the only one who noticed! XD

  • what kind of paper? :D

  • @MsBleachFan101 I still work on comic Book Paper B4 from Deleter Typ 4 xD

  • Doesn't your cutter rip your paper? Like if you press to hard?Have you ever ruined one of you manga pages that way?

  • @AlpineWolf444 not really I never cut my pages during my live xD

  • if you don't mind , can i know where to get the screentones ? :) . i really love your touch ;) .

  • @lolilovie thx ^^ uhmm for international order you can use akadot dot com or the official page from deleter :)

  • @lolilovie for international order you can use akadot dot com or the official hp from deleter^^

  • Hey it's cool that you can do that 。◕‿-。 but i have a questions for you, that is the name of the song????

  • nice job screen-toning! I just wish I could find a place a that sells screen tone and wasn't overpriced about it!

  • 0:52 lol, your cat. I wonder why all cats love to step on the drawings (mine sleeps in my drawing table and bites the pages -.-)

  • @Daias0es xD I guess nearly all cats have the same habit my cat also prefere to sleep on my pages ^^°

  • that is sweet! how old are you? if you mind me asking

  • @missharumomo i´m 24 ^^

  • @missharumomo i´m 24 ^^

  • what a wOrk ! ! hehe

applying screentone dont need glue to stick in paper? am i right? sorry im totally a noob.. ^__^

  • @ralphz27 you don´t need any glue because the screentones have their own glue on the backside , syr for my bad english ;O;

  • @Lianaya blue penicl are also called copie leads in germany. There are use when you don´t erase u scribbles from he inked works :) so if you take a copie or you scan ur work in a special way the blue line will dissapear ^^

  • @itsacrazyworld7 for me not but I guess it´s just pracis :3

  • @visious14 WOAH LATE REPLY! THANKS LOL xD

  • I'm buying some (okay, A LOT XD) of screentone today, but where'd you get the one you use? It comes in a rather large sheet as it shows in the video, so do they all come in that size? The one I wanna get is Sheet size 349mmx242mm - Printed area 325mmx230. I'm very bad at math and cannot visualize the size of that... XD Also, the screentone cutter, do you mind me asking how much you bought it for? I found one, and it's like $20.00 o.o .... (which is okay XD) But you also had that skinny black

  • how are you not cutting the manga page?

  • lolol your cat must've been annoying XD

  • you have crazy mad skills haha. im doing some traditional manga pages for my art portfolio. Ive heard that the paper should be a certain size, what size paper do you use? ( i usually do digital artwork, so i dont know much about the traditional manga and traditional screentoning)

  • @NikiNuratic I use B4 comic Book paper from deleter :3

  • Very informative. you make it look so easy. I am currently ordering some to give it a try. Because i rather work with my hands than a computer. thanks for this.

  • This comic seems quite interesting, but that process looks painful! Did you cut yourself? I've always wanted to do traditional screentoning... I'm gonna need a lot of practice kekeke

  • @SamiKotani I do the whole stuff by my self :3

  • hey liebe demoniacalchild ^-^

  • Comment removed

  • Your work is so incredibly good :) I enjoy every one of your vids ^.^

  • HAHAHAH your cat walked past :)

  • You didn't really explain anything... This isn't a "How to". This is a step-by-step type of deal. You didn't explain what you're doing at all, though, so it's not a "How to".

  • This was very informative. Thank you for uploading it. I always wanted to know how to use traditional screentone.

  • 0:54 LOL XD was that a cat??? plus, traditional screentones looks great!!!

  • Wow. Amazing. I wish I knew how to use screentones. I only know haw to use a pencil. Where did you get them? And are you cutting them out with an X-acto knife? It's not cutting the paper as well?
