Im doing this now with spray paint doing a space scene do you think ill run into any problems with the automotive clear coat over the spray paint or will it handle it just the same? Thank you

@Paladinm0 it should handle just fine, but I am not 100% because I use acrylic paint. Make sure you do a test first using the clear over the spray paint. Have Fun

Awesome job on the paint man, I just purchased a used arbor snowboard, as you may know they have a clear coat because of thebeautiful wood grain underneath... Do you have any on what i could do to refinish the top of the snowboard? I would like to keep the same image and refinish it to keep it original.

secondly when you sanded the board between coats did you do it by hand or did you have a sander?

@san5a89 its all acrylic paint, basic artist paint. The clear coat is an automotive clear coat that is extremely durable. It is a 2 part resin that is sprayed on. The same thing on cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc.

does the type of paint you use effect your ability to ride the board afterwards without cracking? i don't know if it true it is but i read somewhere that automotive paint doesn't crack i'm just looking for comfirmation on this.

paint doesnt matter...it is the clear coat that is important! Automotive clear coat is the most durable, weather resistant coating out there. I use it on my surfboards, snowboards, motorcycle tanks, helmets, metal, wood, canvas, etc.

hey how does it hold up? have you tried it yet? i read up that when u custom paint ur board it cracks alot, which is sad because i was really lookin into doing it.

yes it does...keep researching! sanding, priming and clear coating is all very important. I use the same technique on my surfboards and they are completely usable, however most of my boards are sold as fine art and are never ridden.
