What people don't remember when they give this remake crap is that it's not supposed to be the original movie, it supposed to me a movie musical version of the musical that holds the most Tony of all time... Don't be trolling Youtubes!
I just heard another version of this song, I think it was an early soundtrack, and frankly, I like this version of the song better. I know, Nathan Lane did both versions, but it feels like he put more feeling into this version than the original.
"Alvin! Don't forget your chores! The wood needs a-cording and the cows need a-milking! Alvin! Alvin! ....Wait a minute. My name's not Alvin. Someone else's life is flashing before my eyes. I'm not a hillbilly, I grew up in the Bronx. What the HELL is that about??"
@Rabbitsizcute Well, I may be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't in the theatrical release of the film. Maybe it was put back in for the DVD?
@gjm1953 I saw this in theaters when it first came out and I remeber this becasue I loved it and the way the rest of the jail was empty. :) Maybe the theater just wasn't a fan of Timone.................lol
the cows need a milkn' ALVIN! wait a minute my name's not Alvin. that's not my life. that's somebody else's life flashing before my eyes. I'm not a hillbilly I grew up in the bronx.
I keep thinking Max shoulda remembered at least one more thing when he reviews what happened... the fact Adolf and Roger have the same exact middle name, seeing as how it was Roger who ultimately ended up playing the role on opening night.
I love how this song basically explains most of the movie in 4 minutes and 25 seconds. You can skip most of the movie and if you hear this song you'll know what happened lol. Of course, I would never want to miss out on the whole shebang of the movie, though :)
Well I've never seen "The Producers" before so it's kind've hard to imagine the actual character being portrayed instead of a character he voiced. And as if that wasn't bad enough when I first heard this a few weeks ago through an AMV, I kept thinking he voiced Rex from Toy Story,(Don't ask why) and didn't know his name until today, and have you to thank for that, but it brought up the Timone imagery...
I think the remake was actually better than the original. The music, the casting, the filming in genral, is much better. I never say this, but this one time, the remake is actually better than the original.
ok first off they talk a lot of crap about this remake, but i really liked it myself. For one this is probably the last mel brooks flick we get. two Nathan lane and Mathew Broderick make on hell of a team.
@mikofbableon that's right! plus, i consider this to be the remake that I choose over the original. besides, to me, Lane and Broderick ARE Beolystock und Bloom!
Lousy fruit, KILL THE ACTORS!

This is actually one of the rare times when a show was pulled right off the stage and replicated almost exactly the same in a movie.

This is one of the greatest numbers to come out of Broadway and, if I'm not mistaken, it was cut from the movie. What the heck?
gjm1953 1 year ago
@gjm1953 I don't think this was cut. It was while Max was in jail, and he got a postcard from Leo in Rio.

@gjm1953 It was definitely in the Theatrical version - sometimes they cut it out of the TV Version, for some reason.
