  • @6leafdom An insect belongs to the animal kingdom. At least thats how biology puts it :)

  • hhahaha Herbie's tripping balls. He's high as heeeellll!

  • phantastisch!!!!

  • who could dislike this? that's right, nobody

  • it's very cool even today

  • one for the ladies... smoooooth herbie.

  • Check out Gretchen Parlato's cover. There's lyrics so it might not be as chill, but it's still good.

  • you have to be careful the way you touch it, the truth

  • madonna quanto cazzo sei piacione man...

  • Great Fighting! You're An Up & Coming Boxer!

  • Old skoolin' it!! Herbie having to manhandle four keyboards at once. You don't see that anymore. No MIDI, no sequencers, no pre-recorded samples or triggers. You just had to be aware of which keyboard had the sound you wanted, how to get to it, summon up the sound and play it without losing the groove. Technology changed all that today. You can program one digital synth to get all the sounds you want and even play it. No wonder music is so weak today. Bring back the masters.

  • @cathridge You got that right!

  • @cathridge so true! the people that think nothing is missing from music today are living a lie

  • @cathridge only dude able to handle 4 keybaords or the only one Ive seen is greg phillingahnes another beast, touring with Herbie last year toured with Stevie MJ and Toto.U name it

  • damn!!

  • this is real music!!!

  • Herbie is 70 years old and still awesome.

  • 1:09 The Theramin from Chamelion fights back!

  • This is nize.....

  • Fantastic musicianship! I miss that era ...

  • is this live available on dvd?

  • WOW

  • STRAIGHT BUTTER!!!

  • Herbie Hancock pimpin'? That's funny!

  • herbie hancock is SEX!!!

  • Saw Brian Auger do this in concert. Great tune!!

  • what is the technique called that the hand drummer is doing? anyone know?

  • That's a weird looking soprano sax. I've seen them straight, curved (like a small alto), and with just the slight curve in the neck, but not like the one Maupin's playing here. I wonder if that's partly why he has that unique sound...?

  • @art2art: Turns out it's a "saxello," which is a B-flat soprano with a curved neck and a tipped bell. Huh. Know I know, thanks to wikipedia.

  • @art2art it's not actually a soprano. It's called a Saxello. There are now "Semi-curved" sopranos that are based on the shape, but less-so. Rahsaan Roland Kirk used one.

  • @Bebopopotamus

    It´s a Bass Clarinet.

  • @larrytoquieto nah dude, google the word "saxello" and you'll see what I mean. What he's playing is about half the size of a bass clarinet and made of metal, so... no.

  • @Bebopopotamus Word!

  • @Bebopopotamus

    Right , it´s a saxello.

  • !!!

  • soo beautiful!!!

  • unf**kwithable!

  • best description yet.

  • Man the conga slides set off the intro.

  • haha "pimp strut," an appropiate title to sample this groove to.

  • Good God these guys are absolutely the best.... I love the variance in the way they play these songs... I had only ever heard the versions from the studio album and from the live album, "Flood". This just goes to show how telepathically brilliant this lineup was... there pocket is impeccable and no one makes the rhodes and other synths speak like Herbie does... except maybe Chick Corea in Return to Forever... Bravo!

  • Hey, Joe Zawinul was able to.

  • my bad, Zawinul (R.I.P.) as well =)

  • hehe :)

  • @davidofpiano423 while I agree with you....John Medeski

  • When you touch it, a lil bit rubs of on you, so you gotta be careful, that's why we wanna dedicate it to the ladiessss.... Do that playa thang herb !! Mad track of course.

  • WOW

  • takes me back....

    thanks, Modal!!

  • AMAZING

  • Classic

  • I always love this joint along with Norman Connor's version.

  • a masterpiece!!

  • One of the best Herbie's tunes, great Maupins sound, as always.

  • Pete Rock samples this for his "Pimp Strut" instrumental

  • 00:37 Herbie is one smooth talker, kinda Isaac Hayes inspired

  • REAL Music.

  • Awesome!

  • i heard i different version and it sounded like farting in some parts

  • hes such a cool mother fucker!

  • My favorite song by Herbie...

  • this is lush!!

  • The song had a modal feel to it...the soprano played very lyrically and did not stray from the main melody too much, and even when he did, he was able to make it sound cohesive. I liked this tune before even I heard a recording of it, just by reading the chart. Now that I have heard it, I really dig it and can see how it can make the listener move! Yeah one for the ladies!

  • this is one of my favs!!!! yay herbie hancock!!!!

  • loved this back then and still today

  • This one's for the ladies

  • Man! I was there! Chicago '74!... great show... Herbie and Chick later.

  • this is lush
