You can install Mac OSX on allot of netbooks with the hackintosh stick available on ebay, if you search ebay for Hackintosh its one of the top items with the picture of a snow leopard, i did it on my dell mini 10v and its brilliant!
hey man how ya going? thanks for the great tutorial. i have one problem though.
when i get to the setup after booting from an external hard drive, i cant see my laptops hard drive. im running windows 7 with my hard drive split into 2 partitions (140gb NTFS and 20gb FAT32) do i need to format my hard drive and get rid of windows completely? or make it a single partition?
ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated. thankyou in advance.
Thanks so much for posting this - I've been trying to decide if one of these will suit me as a travel laptop for my web design work, and this has helped me make up my mind!
@eldan94 I ended up buying an MSI Wind U100 - works perfectly with Snow Leopard (I used the SnowyWind package). I have a dual boot so also have Win7 on one partition. I highly recommend it, haven't had any problems at all!
HELP! I have my dell mini 10v with mac os x installed but i cant use the internet or hear anything at all. Message me any possible solutions or reply OR SOMTHING!!!! (breathing heavily)
i am afraid somthing must have gone wronge witht the install, and the wifi and audio drivers are not functinal, i would reinstall your old os, or try reinstalling.
well if you think that's all SSD does then you don't know what you're talking about. SSD has lower power consumption and therefore improving battery life, they run silent meaning that there is virtually no system noise at all, and not only boot times are improved significantly; boot times, shut down times and program install/uninstall. Also running programs is vastly improved. For example Photoshop opening in 2 seconds.
i said in os x, in windows ya it does all that, but is os x, everything is already extremely fast, my shutdowns doent even take one second, sleep, wake up all take less than one second, and program install and uninstall is just dragging a icon to the trash. my photoshop cs4 extended takes about 4 seconds to start up and i would rather have a ful hdd cuz the space.
Well i know osx is already pretty darn fast, especailly SL. But SSD definately does do something for the speed. Plus you do get all the added benifits too. Main disad though is the price :(. Do you have a mini 10v? WIth OS X? How does it run? I've just ordered a 10v from dell last night. Can't wait to get it and put SL on it.
yes i do, its a 99% mac, the 1% is the dell logo on the lid, but i covered that with an apple sticker ;D. it runs like a dream, but mabye my 2gb ram had to do something with that. check out mydellmini if u have any questions, its the best forum ever.
Yeh i know, been reading and posting for a few weeks, hell of a forum. I'm going to be putting 2gb in so hopefully will have some decent performance. What hard drive do you have in yours? 5400rpm? Because I'm thinking about putting in a 7200rpm if it gets me a perf. improvment. Only thing is the noise could be too much. Are you running Snow Leopard? Cheers.
is the mic in your butt or are you just too stupid to talK?

10.5 ran A LOT better than 10.6 in my opinion.
avibrendon 1 year ago
@avibrendon if u had 10.5.8 it should run faster if not it would be disappointing, 10.6 still has a little ways to go before its up to scratch

i like that, and the dell mini only costs $250,
the only thing is it comes with 1gb ram, upgrading that would be worth it.

i have the stock 5400, and yes im running snow leopard. this laptop makes no noise on the 5400, so i doubt it will make that much on a 7200.
