I don't know if it makes that much difference if this song is sung by a man or a woman. The person being sung to/about does need to be a woman, I think. The lunar imagry and all.
very nice cover version - overall good imagery, meaning not 'too' literal - it doesn't compare with the sheer power, grandeur, of the Bunnymen performing the song on any given night! - that is not a criticism though, - nobody else can either on that level! - - but this a very enjoyable more relaxed, different take on the tune! so Cheers!
@sirdoug3 There is something mystical about the way the very essence of women's identity and empowerment is spiritually connected to the moon's cycle that does this song justice in a way the original Bunny men version, sung by a man, ever can. There are some famous masculine songs that are about the Sun that I could never imagine a woman doing justice to also.
@spiralcosmosart - I know what you mean..& I like this version & video very much. But the Moon effects everybody male or femme. And don't forget the male geniuses that wrote the song - (IMO, one of the best songs ever). But, 'better' than The Bunnymen? - If you haven't seen/heard them play this song now, in concert - you really should.
