Wow! I can't believe it shocks people that when you go to live in another country, you should learn their language. It would be a boring world if everyone could speak the same language.
This is true. I lived in India. Even today when I want to talk to people in India on the phone, unless I know they know English, even if I know a bit of their language, I get really nervous, begin sweating, and usually have my husband or inlaws (that know the language) talk for me. But if I see these same people in person I am ok....
haha. I'm considering becoming a ESL teacher in Korea and I never even thought of that.. I guess it will be kinda scary the first time I receive a phone call over there. At least I'll remember to say Yoboseyo!!
Streetview service many foreign country=NG japan=ok ?oh google That is weird you. sorry, japan is most ugly country.. wirescape..this is becoming a problem. but almost impossible for japan from a cost standpoint. japan is just another asian-least developed countries, too.Laugh if you must. for your information, streetview is soon to be partially regulated. because streetview is potential threat to the right to privacy
There is something I'd like to ask. I found myself having a very good time in Japan with Google street-view (^.^) and I noticed that there are electric cables everywhere! (!_!) They often spoil the beauty of the place. Do you know why they don't have hidden cables?
Yeah, it's not because of earthquakes. Cables would actually be a lot safer underground during an earthquake. It's just cheaper to string them on poles above ground and easier to access.
Cables definitely ruin any landscape, especially Japan's unique street views.
is the bus/metro-subway (getting around/finding your way) confusing before you get use to it? (in Korea and Japan). Is it hard to find your way to certain places?
The subways in Korea are easy to navigate. A little more challenging in Japan. Buses in both countries are hard as hell...if you are an English speaker.

creepy..annoying.. it's so bad I don't even want to think about it. korea is nuisance neighbors. we want no part of korea. if you want to stay japan, you had better cut connection korea. i think ,korea is harmful to you. in japan,600 thousand korean.. It's like cockroaches, these mock human. there are thugs anti Japanese activist like australian galore in japan.. we must needs kick korean out of japan thx.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
you frequently talk about korea? i advise you. i'm telling you straight out that japanese doesn't like korea. because, korea is leading country of anti japan. They grumble about everything japan. however, copying every thing of japan.. look it up on youtube, google. korea follows japan like a stalker.
What I find amusing is that some people seem to think, that simply because were on YouTube, that our channels are public forums or chat rooms or message boards. While we both encourage and appreciate comments, this is your channel and you're perfectly within your rights to regulate the flow of information on this channel.
For sure! My channel isn't a chat room or message board! I love comments, but when people are rude or try to make political statements...I'll delete and block their asses...they can find somewhere else to do it!
I've only had a few of those experiences in Japan. In Korea I was a single guy so had no choice. Now in Japan, if my wife isn't home...I play possum and don't answer. Mobile phone ok....hose phone....no way!
It's coming along. Slowly. The fact that I work in a 100%English environment doesn't help much. I'm taking classes though. Ah.....ran my first half marathon this morning....1:52:28! I for sure thought I'd be more than 2 hours....with a chest cold too! I'll post a vid in the next few days!
The phone just plain scares me anyways, and I live in America! I dread it when it rings. Some people have a type of phone-phobia; I think I nearly do! I'd really be freaking out in a foreign land, especially when not knowing the language. I could easily live without a phone. The only reason I have a landline now is so I can have DSL, LOL! Funny video, Kevin. Looking forward to what's next in your adventures. :-)
Thanks so much for diggin the vid. In Asia, I've always feared the phone because of the language barrier. Back in Canada, I feared it because of the dreaded telemarketer!!!
I totally get what you mean! Same things have happened when I first moved to US, China, and when I had tried to call my friends in Korea and their family members picked up the phone!
I know what you mean. I just got here about 4 months ago and my super genki boss to be interviewed me over the phone. My Japanese is pretty horrible so it was a little nerve racking to say the least.
I like most of Kevin's videos, but this one is not informative at all.

How much Korean did you learn while living there? IMO, it's harder than Japanese.

i still suck, though. here you can almost SEE the nervousness on the person's face through their voice. it makes me nervous, too.
