Nice one bud hats off to your teacher. don't ever try to chase down a shot deer it's better to wait, especially if you have to drag it. It will lay down somewhere and bleed out. If their being chased they'll bleed out on the run and can cover a mile or so. Great job!

Awesome video. Good-on-ya Dad for teaching your kid how to hunt. I just love watching videos of Dad's taking their kids out in the wilderness and teaching them the ways of life. I find it funny how all the nay-sayer's have negative things to say about hunting yet they eat meat from the grocery store of animals that are inhumanely kept and slaughtered and then throw the bible at you with words twisted to their liking. Way to go dude! You will remember that for the rest of your life man. I am 30 and I remember my first deer, when I was 6, like it was yesterday. My Dad and I were the proudest people in the world that day. I can't wait for my little man to go on his first hunt with me. We may even take ole Pops with us. That .243 will do it to em. Now I agree that God never intended us to be cruel or inhumane to animals (dog fighting, circus, confining animals to small cages, abuse, etc), but He did provide the animals as food. And I think Satan is much happier about people who care about animals more than their fellow humans

@Hunters4Christ What they dont realize is that this is a cultural ritual, especially in the midwest US. The killing of a deer is symbolic of a boy reaching manhood. Also, hunting is a very important skill. Just because we don't have to hunt today, doesnt mean that it wont always be so. Your son looked like he had fun! I hope to bag a deer this season as well. First off, venison is a very lean meat...not a likely culprit for causing heart disease. Secondly, the is not ONE SINGLE INSTANCE of CWD being transferred from a deer to a human. That is typical animal rights garbage. There is an extremely rare disease similar to CWD and mad cow disease called Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease that can affect humans- but not linked deer
