The track is "The Time of Nahawand" from the album "Hilal" by Naseer Shammaa. He is renowned as the top Nay player in Egypt. The nay is the hollow reed flute which is one of the most difficult instruments I've ever tried to play. The album is classified as Egyptian chamber music, but, Naseer also plays with traditional folk groups and I have even had the pleasure of seeing him play with an Egyptian jazz group at an open air concert in Cairo. His CDs can be a little difficult to get hold of.
Believe it or not, after seven months of intrigue, research, and saving money, I have booked a trip to Egypt, at which point I will visit SIWA OASIS! I may have your videos to thank. I will be there in Feb/Mar 2010! Looking forward to those dates (Get it?! Siwa Joke!)
I'm sure you will enjoy it immensely and you seem to be going at a perfect time when the weather is a bit cooler than mid summer when I was there. If you have a flexible itinerary try and organise yourself a trip across the desert to Bahariya, it'll be a once in a lifetime experience.
