  • very interesting thanks

  • really informative and interesting

  • 6 is my favorite number ^_^

  • she really fucks that language in the ass

  • so they go with the months

  • no the months go with the numbers ;) Actually it would be correct with the months numbers, but they added Jan and Feb to the calendar.

  • Your accent is so weird for all the people who speak romance languages. Your Latin accent is americanized. That's too bad for romani.

  • Doesn't sounds right...

I don't even know Latin to know that...

Thanks for the spelling lesson though!

  • TO ALL AMERICANS!! 'U' IN LATIN IS PRONOUNCED AS 'U' IN PUT, NOT HUT!!!

  • Worst latin ppronunciation ever?

  • Does anyone know where I can find good videos with someone teaching that can actually pronounce the words correctly? Thanks!

  • ITS alot like spanish! I speak spanish!

  • So sex is Latin for six.

  • @MetalTubest in fact it is... and sexus is the word for sex.

  • Hi :) I'm not sure if this goes along with your video, but I have a question. I've only ever studied English and Spanish, and now about 3 minutes of Latin. Why does English not have any.... accents? Things over letters. Spanish and apparently Latin both have them, I'm pretty sure French and German do, too...why not English?

  • @Semp3rLucky I'm quite sure every italian would understand it, I know I do; I just said that the pronounciation is funny.

  • I'm pretty sure if an italian goes back in time and tries to talk in latin to anyone who spoke this as a first language, he/she would get laughed at, as well. geesh, psuedo-purists.

  • Me siento estúpido. Pues, no sabía que aprendéis Latin en Italia. Una pregunta, usáis la pronunciación latina o italiana, o clasica? Solo estoy interesado.

  • @070257 Mi sento estupido. Bene (Bien?), non sapevo che aprendete Latín in Italia. Una domanda?, usate la pronuncia latina o italiana, o classica? Solo stoi interesato. My best italian, sorry.

  • @everyone...obviously the language is not dead for many languages derived from it....leaving latin as the unique matrix of languages aside from previous dialects like Indo-European which clearly doesn't exist..ROmance languages..spanish, italian, french, portuguese......latin( Italic) languages italian, spanish, portuguese, romanian, french.... and some others....BTW they speak latin in the Vatican CIty

  • @070257 We use the ecclesiastical pronounciation, which I don't like that much because we (italians) are the only one who use it, in all other countries they use the classic pronounciation, which is the historically more accurate.

  • sex-six

    really?rofl

  • I made a comment on the vowels. No matter how "v" was pronounced, the vowel preceeding it does not sound right. Although not every ear may this up.

  • in italian: uno-due-tre-quattro-cinque-sei-sette-otto-nove-dieci

    in spanish: un-dos-tres-cuatro-cinco-seis-siete-ocho-nueve-diez

    in french: un-deux-trois-quatre-cinq-six-sept-huit-neuf-dix

    ....

  • lol six is sex...

  • This pronunciation is terrible.

I bet the Romans did not say treys for tres, nowem for novem etc. The woman needs to get good training and fix her pronunciation before teaching ohters. Otherwise, this video is quite useless.

  • @7111505

well actually novem is pronounced nowem in latin the v makes a w sound and yea she needs to practice her pronunciation

  • i speak better than you bitch

  • it's kind of similar to Spanish

  • @xiangzuodong yes, but more similar to italian.

  • @xiangzuodong That's because Spanish is a romance language and has a very strong influence of latin on it, also from arab languages (Dinero is spanish for money, and an arab monetary unit is the Dínar)

  • does any group of people speak latin?

  • @Bookeater42 Lawyers... and priests

  • wow.... you people are really stupid if you cannot grasp why latin is a dead language.....

  • I hate people that are too stupid to pronounce latin words !!!!!!!!!!!! You should not pronounce "NIHIL" like "NIHHILL" but like "NIHIL" !!!!!!

  • @Gerechtigkeit19 Go on a killing spree then....or start a "new" third reich...

  • quad tour

    omg

  • lol, six is sex...

  • @Etanracnisid lol, immature.

  • CONTAMINATED IT IS. BUT EVEN IN ITALY THE LANGUAGE IS MIXED WITH ITALIAN, AN EXTREMELY DIFFERENT VERSION OF THE ORIGINAL LATIN.

  • @EinsteinxtremeRoblox You have no idea what you're talking about, the only difference is in the pronounciation of some letters. Don't talk bullshit, inform yourself better next time.

  • @erasmusso Says the guy with a South Park picture as his theme :P Shut up.

  • Oh,God,they're teaching the students bad pronunciation!!!I

  • fucking useless american accent!!!! epic fail

  • Nihil means nothing. Null means zero

  • horrible pronounciation :(

  • @theawesomesausage (and everyone else): I never knew there so many friggin experts on what ancient Latin sounded like. Why don't you idiots STFU?

  • @md65000 Raging at me for knowing what I'm talking about? For criticizing?

  • ahhhhhh! I´m going crazy!!!!!

noone got the right accent, noone know how to pronouce them here on youtube!

  • this is no latin pronounciation! perhaps a german accent is closer

  • Very bad pronunciation.

  • A caray deberian de revisar esos cursos, porque segun yo DECEM se deberia de pronunciar como el mismo diez en su derivado español como decimo (Decimvs). La pronunciacion es horrible. !Lindo Latinglish! jeje

  • that bitch can't pronounce the rolling r, haha

  • The pronounciation is obviously contaminated by an american or english accent, if you pronounce the words like this in Italy people may laugh at you...

  • @erasmusso In italian?, In spanish, in portugues, etc... jajaja

  • @erasmusso If you think they speak Latin in Italy then you're a much bigger fool - you are the one they will laugh at!

  • @md65000 I just happen to live in Italy and I know what I had to learn at school... the only difference is that in Italy we use the "ecclesiastical" pronunciation and not the classical one as in this video.

  • @erasmusso no one speaks Latin anymore.

  • @xxemopuddlexx Latin is spoken and taught in schools, as I already said; people may not speak it anymore in daily situations but it's not a dead or extinct language as people may think. Furthermore latin is still the official language of the "Status Civitatis Vaticanae" (Vatican City). Therefore it's not correct to say that nobody speaks latin anymore...

  • @erasmusso no. its dead. people learn about the Egyptians. but are they still there? People also learn about jesus. is he still alive? No country speaks latin.

  • @xxemopuddlexx Omg, how old are you?

Yes, Jesus is dead, Egyptians are dead, but a language? How can a language be dead? People who lived in the Roman empire are dead but not their language, I mean, your great grandmother is probably dead and she spoke english. So what? English is not dead. And btw, as I already said, if you don't believe me go check it up on Wikipedia, latin is the OFFICIAL language of the Vatican City. All the priests there understand, write and speak latin.

  • @erasmusso Latin is considered a dead language because so few people speak it. And also, isn't the -OFFICIAL- language of the Vatican City italian? -.-

  • @Gurkishh There are 2 official languages. From Wikipedia:

"Ordinances of Vatican City are published in Italian; official documents of the Holy See are issued mainly in Latin."

I compared the two web pages on Wikipedia about the Vatican City in english and in italian and I found some differences, maybe that's why there's so much confusion. Anyway, in italian it's written: "La lingua ufficiale della Città del Vaticano è il latino." It means latin is the official language.

  • @Gurkishh Btw, on the sv.wikipedia is also written:

"Officiellt språk: Italienska, Latin" and "Lagstiftningen för Heliga stolen sker till skillnad från Vatikanstaten på latin, vilket även det officiella språket i kurian."

  • @erasmusso YOUR THE MAN..I AGREE

  • @erasmusso Sorry, just cuz i'd like to know, it sounds like you said that they still speak latin in Italy, I'm sure that its italian i'm just not aware if you're aware

  • @070257 In Italy we speak italian of course, but everyone who went to school can speak at least a little latin because we have to learn it, it's part of our culture. You could talk in latin with some italians but of course we speak italian because it's the official language.

  • @erasmusso Well, it wouldn't matter considering they don't speak Latin anymore in Italy.

  • @EpicBacon Yes we do, we learn it at school, we read ancient poems and literature in latin, moreover latin is an official language in the Vatican City, they use it for the official documentation.

  • latin totally upsets the months of the year XD... octo means eight, but october is 10th month... XD

  • Holy mother fucking shit! I wish there was a way to take stars away from people. Next time you decide to slaughter a language, give us a warning first. Now please excuse me, I have to go stick knives my ears to dull the pain of what I was just exposed to.

  • omg, this is terrible!!

  • omg i was watching this in the living room, and when it came to the part "6"

  • This is terrible! No rolling rrrrs!

    Enjoy your 1 star, bitch.

  • OMG, this has a really strong english accent...

    can't believe this....

    i'm totally shocked...

  • The pronunciation is terrible. It upsets me a bit that you're teaching Latin. Nihil is pronounced nee-keel. Nihil and Mihi are the only two exceptions when H is pronounced as K. You should be ashamed.

  • I've never heard of that h rule before. Googling it a bit it seems to only come up with Ecclesiastical Latin. Is this true?

  • Not true. The H pronunciation as K in those two words apply in both Classical Latin and Ecclesiastical Latin. This is because in older texts, the word nihil was written as nichil, and mihi was written as michil.

  • Number 6 is SEX

  • aaaaaaaag thats a bad accent an english speaker will never have to teach a romance language

  • did anyone else realize that #s 1-5 sound REALLY close to spanish???

  • @rosytherascal123 no shit bro

  • well SORRY, for not knowing how close latin and spanish are! SHEESH!

  • @rosytherascal123 i thought it was GENERAL KNOWLEDGE these days to know that spanish is a romance language...

  • unlike you, i saw Japenese and English as a more intresting language and didnt bother to learn the common,er, "general" knowledge of the Latin or Spanish language.(SHEESH! some people!)

  • @rosytherascal123 are you fucking kidding me

  • you're a piece of shit fucking retard... is called GENERAL KNOWLEDGE to have an idea of the world you're living...

  • @HaloGrndr !Exacto, y deberian mejor preguntarle a un latino las pronunciaciones porque ya me dolieron las costillas de tento reir!

  • Comment removed

  • the letter u is wrong in latin it's V

  • No, Romanian, for example, has preserved the u sound. They have noua - 9. The loss of final m in Romance languages was due to nasalization. O ye of untrained mouthes!

  • How do you pronounce nihil?
