about the mironov vs florez debate....I think it has a lot to do with personal taste, one is not necessarily better than the other. I like both of them!

The whole production (available on dvd!) is superb and one hint to you all: mind maestro Frizza. He has no partitura in front of him. Everything out of his memory. He is really a talent too!!! :)))))

Mironov has a more colorfull voice than Florez which I find monochcromatic and regarding coloraturas Marinov`s are lighter and more accurate in the position. He is a great Rossini Singer!!!

I like the color, the stage presence (needless to say) and the idiomatic style; surely, a born Rossini singer. That said, the line sometimes suffers, with the placement going slightly back at the top. There's also some smudginess in the coloratura, strange for a singer who works his diaphragm so well. I just bought the video on the strength of his diaphragm!
Bella voce, senz'altro. Florez non è sopravvalutato, è molto bravo, ha un'ottima tecnica e un ottimo gusto sorretto da un bel timbro. Ma anche questo Maxim Mirorov non è male. Ha anche un'ottima pronuncia, ma si sa che gli slavi sono molto portati per le lingue.
Ringraziamo dunque il cielo, Dio o qualsivoglia divinità musicale, per avere tanti buoni tenori.
Florez a mio parere è un tenore sopravvalutato. Mironov ha un timbro molto piu dolce,meno aspro e una tecnica migliore basata sul girare i suoni e non come Florez che li prende di forza.Ottime anche le agilità e la presenza scenica.

His voice is a bit lighter, and his coloratura is a bit more aspirated than Florez, but he's just as pleasant. I suppose he sounded a little "cautious" and not as confident and even indulgent as Florez in this performance, but maybe it was his nerve on this occasion. I hope to hear more of him.
There is no way that his voice can be any lighter than Florez's. Mironov evinces a resonance that Florez hardly ever seems to be capable of. That being said, it's probably the lightness of his voice that gives Florez his agility with coloratura.
That your opinion and I respect it. I can't stand Florez, I think he's the most neutral and savourless singer I've heard. But this is matter of taste: his technique is great and so are his looks.
I am really sorry to read that. I am a Florez fan devoted extremely to his art. Mironov is an ecellent technician too. What is savourless in Florez singing? His legato, his magnificent coloratura, brilliant high notes or beautiful phrasing? You are right, it is the matter of taste but I cant even imagine such an opinion (probably due to may narrow imagination at all :-)
