  • After following the vegan diet religiously for 2 months, my weight dropped from 229 to 189 (30#, but still overweight), blood pressure from 130/82 to 109/70, cholesterol from 184/29/132 to 107/26/69 (total /HDL=good /LDL=bad ), triglycerides from 116 to 62, and

my PSA from 1.7 (high for my age of 51 and I have a very strong family history of it) to 1.0. Good cholesterol is more of a relative number to your total cholesterol. Initially 29 good/184 total is 15% and improved to 26/107 which i

  • Holla! Have you heard about - fast abs magic (do a google search)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my sister got detailed Six pack abs and lost lots of belly fat with it.

  • I think that losing weight without losing your mind you really have to know about the right foods and know what they do for your body. Wether its eating meet or not eating meat.

  • ey hey! Have you thought about - fast abs magic (google it)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cooworker got ripped Six pack abs and lost a lot of weight with it.

  • Dr. McDougall once said "Please don't try to make your cat a vegetarian".

  • *applaud*

  • check out what fox news got on it /watch?v=9QpzdK7wdYY

  • Processed food is the problem. I don't eat meat and am very healthy, suit youself though

  • why would you give a cat vegan food?

  • Veganism is a cult like lifestyle. We are not designed for it. We are designed to eat both plants and animals. Thats why we thrive on a balanced omnivore diet;

  • Amazing information. Love it.

  • There is no mystery to weightloss nor is it a mystery why people fail. People fail because they aren't consistent when they know what they need to do or they have stupid ideas about how weightloss works are end up spinning their wheels. People are basically lazy and gluttony is a national past time, add in mediocrity and an attitude that blames everyone (and everything) but themselves amd it is no wonder why people fail. No mystery, most people fail at almost everything they try.

  • Any suggestions for yummy breakfasts?

  • About the animal-based products being bad for you, what do we use to replace the milk? :/

  • @briartanglepath I've never been one to drink a glass of milk but I use it in cereal, coffee, etc. so it was easily replaced by almond milk or soy milk. Haven't tried rice milk yet.

  • @briartanglepath Animal based foods are NOT bad for you, man has been living on them for 100k years. Stop believing everything you hear.

  • @briartanglepath Just use milk because in reality animal based diets are the best for us. These videos lie and brainwash. Its vegan peopaganda.

  • What is with people feeding their cats a vegan diet? Look at their teeth and jaws. They're carnivores!

  • @sprice676 No one is making mouse or bird CAT food. Not to worry, the vegan cat food will keep the cat healthy. The main thing is for PEOPLE to eat less or no meat and dairy so that they are healthier.

  • @30stmFantasy This shows just how stupid vegans are and how their world view is religious cultism rather than fact based.

  • @30stmFantasy People aren't healthier eating no meat and dairy. Its the opposite actually.

  • @sprice676 It's called stupidity and cultism.

  • Nothing new here. Nice presentation. Anti-cancer was a great book as well.

  • Great talk..... at the end of the day it is all about the mind. Keep the mind in control and you will eat the right thing, do the right thing and make the best of every situation life throws at you.

  • That is great using great white as an example. There are there who will think it is okay to kill sharks for shark fin, since all this fish does is sex and food :(

  • Whole foods plant based eating leads to natural effortless gradual weight loss until your weight stabilizes at your natural weight.

  • @marc0443 And it also leads to major health problems. We are designed not for a plant based diet but we are designed for a Omnivore diet. Animal products,Meat and plants.

  • Ditto on the comment that this talk had valuable info. Thank you!

  • In general, like dr. Lisle's approach of leading people to make choices and do so gradually if that fits them better.

  • I question his claim that there aren't psychological factors related to eating. Personally, if stressed, I am less interested in food or if extremely stressed, don't really feel like eating although I drink water, unsweetened tea, perhaps apple juice or orange juice. Other people I've known, when highly stressed, reach for food, usually sugary food. So, isn't this a psychological affect on what he terms "the pleasure trap."

  • This is a wonderful lecture. Bravo to D.Lisle for such valuable information on what we eat!

  • Most veterinarians do not recommend a vegan diet for cats. A diet high in grain based foods has been found not to be optimal for cats and can be detrimental. With diligent supplementation, there have been exceptions, but a vegan cat diet is not generally recommended.

  • Please provide us closed captioning or audio transcribe for the hearing impaired. I am anxiety to hear Dr. Lisle's speaking.

  • is the rest of the lecture some place?

  • Best explanation of why we become overweight I've seen. Love the hand drawn slides. I went vegan 8 months ago and lost all the extra weight.

I don't have cats but cats need different amino acids than we do but that doesn't mean they need MEAT just that they need added amino acids. People have cats on vegan diets that are thriving.

  • @erikfranks Humans should eat meat as so should cats.

  • fantastic!!!

  • Thank you for sharing this. A podcast would be fantastic....

  • where can you find the calories per pound of various foods?

  • yup is this on iTunes? it's gotta go on there. i'd have it on repeat. it all makes sense. I can feel the difference already. omitting processed foods.. it does the trick.

  • the imagines doesn't pair with the comments :(

  • Please make this a podcast...it would be great to listen to on my daily long commute

  • @DarjeelingTea If you use Firefox you can download it as an mp3 if you use "Easy youtube video downloader addon

  • I need to listen to this.

  • Overall, this is GREAT. Too bad the light pointer doesn't register. I wish Doug could go back into the video and put a computer pointer on the slide to help describe what he's talking about.

  • Please provide English subtitle or audio transcribe for the hearing impaired.

  • @traceyeakin Dogs are not in fact obligate carnivores. Cats are. Know your science before you make a comment.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Lisle's lecture. He is truly a thought leader that will undoubtedly bring much needed change. My only concern is that unlike humans, dogs and cats are obligate carnivores and a biologically appropriate diet for humans is not going to be biologically appropriate for these two other species. I am a devoted vegan but do not impose what is best for me on my pets.

  • @traceyeakin While you are 100% correct about a cat being an obligate carnivore, dogs are obligate omnivores, and like us, find pleasure in the taste of sweet carbohydrates(plant foods)

  • @ConcreteRiver The dogs I used to have hated plant foods. They loved meat.

  • @traceyeakin Dogs are actually TRUE omnivores, humans are behavioral omnivores but not physiological omnivores like dogs.

  • @101011001 We are 100% Omnivores.

  • @traceyeakin The so-called Dr is a moron and is lying out his ass. We are designed to consume meat and plants.

  • @lovebigboobs29 and what proof is this statement based on?

  • @TheNicoleAndrews Which statement are you referring to?

  • vegan vegan vegan i love being a vegan =)

  • This has some very useful information! A vegan diet might not be the best diet for a cat, but cruel seems overstated. If the cat is healthy on a vegan diet then it is not cruel. It will probably go get a bird/rat or two when it wants to anyway due to natural instincts.....LOL

  • @WarnerRobins2 I have a vegan cat. 19 years old. still has little spurts where she runs through the house. And yes she has got some mice once and a while. She is happy and healthy.

  • Under Fuhrman plan, I am eating more and losing weight.

  • This is a great video! I wish I could get it on dvd.

  • F-A-S-C-I-N-A-T-I-N-G...

You're brilliant. [You deserve a better hair cut (did I say that?!)]

    Looooove the oatmeal story! Thanks!

  • Well, we have a dilemma here. There's a local deli I go to. Between the counter and the door is a bowl of bread and butter up for grabs. I have watched people come in, grab some bread and butter. Order. Grab more bread/butter. Eat a HUGE sandwich. Maybe a cookie. And, on the way out, more bread and butter. The people who are doing this tend to be from a little to a lot overweight. Isn't overeating a small part of the cause? I eat bread too, but I'm not going for the bread and butter 3x

  • I should say, I do like what he's saying. Having seen Forks Over Knives, totally on board with these concepts. But I think it's oversimplifying the issue a bit.

  • @LunaGer Over-eating is the cause 100%. Meat nor animal products aren't the cause at all. Its healthy for us to consume them as well as plants.

  • @lovebigboobs29 You have much anger. You should probably eat more carbs and less animal fat.

  • @jjay75 Excess carbs is proven bad for you not meat. I will stick with eating as I wish. I am not at all angry. i find these bullshit videos hilarious.

  • @lovebigboobs29 lol :)

That explains why Americans eating a high meat diet are so healthy and athletic, and Kenyans are so fat

  • @jjay75 Sarcasm huh? Not all americans are fat and its not from the meat they eat the ones whom are fat. Its from over-eating or too much junk food chips, cookies, etc and not exercize with it.

  • @lovebigboobs29 Junk food which is high in fat, like animal products.

  • @jjay75 No...just junk food. Meat causes no obesity.

  • @lovebigboobs29 Yeah, I agree about the junk food. Shame meat has a very similar nutritional make up to what you would call junk food though

  • @jjay75 It doesn't have the same nutritional make up.

  • @lovebigboobs29 It's high fat. High fat foods make you fat. Are you going to argue that high carb foods make you fat or are you part of the crowd that believe grass fed and organic meat has a different nutritional make up to the rest of it?

  • @jjay75 high carbs is what makes you fat. Its been known for years. Meat does not make you fat.

  • @lovebigboobs29 Explains why kenyans are so fat and Americans are so skinny.

  • @jjay75 I already explained what causes obesity. It isn't meat. The kenyans are just poor and malnourished.

  • @lovebigboobs29 You didn't explain anything, or provide any evidence lol. Kenyans destroy western athletes at endurance sports and do it on a high carb diet, with minimal meat. If lean people are undernourished, and fat people are living as intended, I guess your argument holds some weight lol

  • @jjay75 They also eat meat so your arguement is invalid. Alot are poor tho. I used to work with someone from Kenya and yes they eat meat. I am simply stating high carbs puts on the weight. Of course athletes in fuckin marathons wont put on weight I am talking about normal people. Meat wont do it. I know plenty of people on the paleo diet and are thriving and energetic and very healthy. Which is a diet consisting of alot of lean meats.

  • @lovebigboobs29 kl - I see no scientific evidence or long term studies connecting animal product consumption with anything but early death and degenerative diseases.

And my argument is not made invalid by the consumption of small amount of animal products by some groups who eat the majority of their calories from carbohydrates. They are thin because their animal product consumption is low.

  • @jjay75 Quit looking at vegan propaganda and you will see studies. No one in the history of my family has had early deaths do to food. If they run marathons and shit it doesn't matter how much or what they eat of course they won't be fat. So yes its invalid.

  • @lovebigboobs29 Link me to a study plz

You'd struggle to run a marathon on a high meat diet anyway - without seriously carbing up before hand at least. And I'm glad you have some solid anecdotal evidence to bring to the discussion.

  • @jjay75 No you would not struggle on a nigh meat diet. There are plenty of marathon runners whom eat meat. Use google it will enlighten you. I feel better eating less carbs/more meat. I am more energetic and healthy.

  • @lovebigboobs29 high

  • @lovebigboobs29 What's your 10k time on high meat low carb?

  • @jjay75 I work out the normal way. In a gym. I have no interest in running a marathon. Sorry but I don't see running as fun.

  • @lovebigboobs29 k. I guess you'd find it really hard with insufficient glucose - trying to exercise on ketones is pretty lol

  • @jjay75 I just have no interest in a marathon. Nothing to do with Glucose. I have better things to do then marathons.

  • @lovebigboobs29 Like sit around spamming comments on youtube videos about how people who eat more have an easier time exercising...ummm...alright

  • @jjay75 LOL no this is hardly my life. I am just relaxing a few days :) Off work and chilling. You respond fast as well so I wouldn't talk if I were you.

  • @lovebigboobs29 meh, I check my computer about twice a day. You're the one who actively goes to videos that you disagree with and troll haha

  • @jjay75 Nice try but no you are on more then me.

  • @lovebigboobs29 Holy shit, you're spamming the vegan video also?!

    I smell a paid shill.

  • I really appreciate what Dr. Lisle is saying. And the cat cartoons make it charming!

  • The vegan cat upsets me (and I am near-vegan myself). Feeding a species that is naturally a true carnivore vegan food is cruel and wrong, just as feeding cats commercial cat food that contains mainly grain is wrong. Their digestive tracts aren't made to digest a larger portion of grain and veggies than would be found in the stomach of their prey. Of course overweight pets are a huge problem... but the problem lies in the amount you feed, and feeding species-inappropriate isn't the solution.

  • @catandthesun Agree with your comments, as do many experts in feline nutrition.

  • @catandthesun We are true Omnivores and should be eating meat as well as part of a balanced diet.

  • A vegan cat??
