  • awesome vid baz!!! you look buffer!!!

  • @aznmatthewpride - Thanks so much that is a great compliment. Baz

  • nice one baz

  • @MRBLAND1986 - thanks very much. Baz

  • I've heard that sodium (salt) is a main factor in water retention. So I personally prefer to stay away from it. Also i've heard that milk isnt the best thing to substitute for protein, only because of the fact that it can produce higher amounts of estrogen in your body. But excellent video my friend. You should look into BOCA vegetarian soy burgers. High in Protein, Low in fat and very cost effective. Anyways thanks again

  • @elvishmauler - There is so much said about salt. There are phases where you must have salt and then they say you must stay away from it. I have when I feel for it. Know your own body. I would never have milk as a protein. It is fine as a liquid for taste in a shake but that is all I would use it for. It has good stuff in it. I like the idea of the soy burgers. Baz

  • Do you ever eat things for pure pleasure? Hamburgers, fried stuff, red meats, sweets. Anything?

  • @AFKabi - Yes I once a week I will have a free day and that is chicken and chips from our local takaway. I will now and again have some chocolate but not very often. I cannot have dairy and wheat products. Baz

  • What about something like tea or coffee?

  • @TheSelsner - It is not good to over do caffeine. I do have caffeine free coffee a few times a day along with herbal tea. Green tea is brilliant. Baz

  • what happened to the maize meal and eggs video?

  • @manfredoxyz - I will be doing one but have a lot on the go right now. Baz

  • Ahh i see. 1 more question, when should i take protein shake? only on the day when im training or do i have to take it everyday?

  • @MsSpike911 - I take it every day. It is a very easy way to get the needed protein for muscle. I hardly ever take more than 2 a day but each person is different. I have one about 10 am and then about 40 minutes before I train. That works for me. You must work out what you find best for you. Baz

  • Ahh i see. All protein powders will help build lean muscles right?

  • @MsSpike911 - Muscle tissue breaks down during resistance training and requires rest and protein to rebuild. You have to eat right and train right to build lean muscle. Baz

  • 1 - 1.5 g per kg of protein? I heard this is good only for light athletes, but not for someone who wants to gain a mass. For them the recommentation is 1.5 - 2. I hardly can take 1.5(only from food, I'm a little afraid of all the powders), but hey, I see it works for you, so I have a hope for myself to.;)

  • @kiril1 - the top sport places in Canada and USA say for heavy training have around 1.5 gms per kg. Arnold even suggested slightly less. Often the more you take the more you have to buy so it is a good marketing plan. You will get most of what you want from your food if you eat right. Taking shakes is just an easy convenient way to take your protein. Baz

  • What you mean protein is 80+? Whey is 48%.

  • @MsSpike911 - You will see that on the tin it will say 80% protein or even some might be 100% protein. It is the protein content in the product. Get should get one that has a high protein content. That is why I said 80%+. Try to get one that has very little carbs in it unless you are thin and want to gain weight. Weight gainers are just protein with carbs in. You can make your own by adding in fruit etc for the carbs portion in the protein shake. Baz

  • Hey Baz, Which kind of protein powder is to build muscles like a footballer. Or are they all the same? Is AST Sports Science >> Advanced Performance Whey Protein okay?

  • @MsSpike911 - I have always believed protein is protein. Fancy named ones tend to have a fancy price too. If the portein is 80+ then it should be fine. I go more on price then brand name or claims. Baz

  • hey Baz, i'm 17 and have been training for 3-4 months. I usually have one protein shake (one scope of whey protein) before AND after training..Is this bad?

  • @EvilMonkeyJSH - no that is fine. I personally have a protein shake about 30 minutes before I train and that is it. I do not have one after. It is up to you though. Baz

  • so i was wondering, i know you said you looked in the mirror and you wanted to change but did you have anything else that pushed you and gave you the drive to stick with it and continue, i think nutrition and sticking to a training program is the hardest things, of course lifting weights can be tough sometimes on your muscles but i think for me, the diet and the sticking with it is the hardest part, how do you stick to your diet? dont you get the urge to sometimes eat something real fattening?

  • im impressed. My dad is about 47 - 48 cant remember its one of those anyway lol but hes always whining about how hes going to start tomorrow and stick to his new plan, and he does it for a day and then he dont stick with it, maybe hes just lazy or he doesnt have the motivation needed to do it everyday, so i wanted ask, what made you start and stick to it, my dad looks in the mirror and gets all moany about his body and he says "im gonna get into shape starting tomorrow" and he never sticks to it

  • great vid baz, you know ive been trying to figure out a good way for me to get into shape and learning the exercises with weights and all that is the easy part, its the nutrition part that really confuses me and as a newcomer to weight lifting and dieting for muscle gain and all that stuff its kinda hard figuring out what i need to eat, this vid has cleared alot of that up for me so thank you, i said on another vid it was inspiring to see a 58 year old in such great shape, but you're 60 wow

  • @Brady2k10 - I will send you some info. it is hard and you have to have a good image in your mind of how you want to look. You have to keep seeing it everyday and that is the motivation that keeps me going. The image has to be in detail and every time I see it I feel really excited. It makes eating and training a lot easier.Because the image is not clear that is why your dad it battling. You can do it just have a really good reason in the first place. Baz

  • thanks for replying baz. I know that I really should be working out my legs too but i work out home with my dumbells, bench etc and not quite sure what exercises are the best to target these muscles, could you please send me information on what exercises i should be doing? thanks again baz

  • @SamRowson - I would do Bulgarian split squats. They are the best for when you train at home. You do not need too much weight for them and they are a killer. I would also do calf raises on the stairs at home with dumbbells. You can do dead lifts with dumbbells too if you have to and if you do not have a straight bar. Baz

  • @ BazBlog -I'm still new with building muscle.couple days ago I started working out my chest and the next day I do biceps. My chest and my arm become so hurt.Is it a common things to happen??AND my arm is really hurt ,I cannot even bend my arm.

  • @ronaldinding - I know I should not laugh but it is funny as I have done the same in the past. I could not use my arms for about 10 days. I overdid the training. A bit too heavy and because I was so fresh did too many sets and reps. I then paid the price. Go very light. 4 sets of 8 reps for the first 2/3 weeks. Train each muscle only 2 times a week. You will still become stiff but not too bad. That will go as you get fitter and the muscles become more conditioned. Baz

  • Hello baz, great videos mate. Have really been helping me with my workouts, definitely the best weight training videos on here.

I was just wondering if you could give me some pointers. At the moment im working out chest - mondays, arms - tuesdays shoulders - wednesday rest thursday and so on, just wondering on your opinion on my workouts and any information would be greatly appreciated.

  • @SamRowson - thanks for the very kind compliment. I do not see you doing legs. They are key to a good build. I will send you some training info. Baz

  • Baz, although you don't use dairy, would a low fat yogurt mixed with granola/oats be a good training food?

  • @billieve83 - yes it would be even better if you added some low fat cottage cheese to the granola/oats with the low fat yogurt. It would be a brilliant meal. Baz

  • Baz, what is your opinion on 1% milk when bodybuilding?

  • @WTEIncognito - if you can take milk I guess it is fine. I would have skimmed milk in my diet but mainly only for my protein shakes if I could tolerate dairy. Baz

  • be careful i have been learning or red somewhere that tuna has heavy metals in it . this is not a joke

  • @TheRogueMonk - I think many things will not be good for you if you over do it. Including training. Baz

  • I love you philosophy on doing what you think is right for yourself.... interesting...

  • @WTEIncognito - It is what works in every area in your life. Obviously not something that is totally wrong. Use common sense and listen to your body. It will always tell you what it needs. Baz

  • Baz, you gotta tell me what you did in order to reduce that stomach fat you had? Did the weight training only do that? 120 days and that much progress, that's called "practicing what you preach".

  • @GOPLATINUM10 - thanks so much for the very nice compliment. I used a combination of eating right and training right. I will send you some information on what I did. Baz

  • it would be great if you could show how you make your maize meal with eggs?

  • @manfredoxyz - yes I will make a vid soon showing some easy to make meals. Baz

  • @BazBlog Great! I've subscribed because i really want to see your grandfather's maize meal and eggs meal! Thinking of doing it for breakfast. Thanks alot

  • @manfredoxyz - thanks a lot for the sub and yes I will make a video soon. Baz

  • this video was uploaded in 2009, 2009 was a good year. thanks baz

  • @newsreloaded - yes it was a good year. Baz

  • its funny how there are so many people out there who think all you have to do is eats lots and lots of meat to get muscles when if you look at ancient Rome and the Gladiator's they were living on a diet of Grain's and legumes

  • @TheMrmoonlight - you are quite right. You have to have proper balanced meals. Baz

  • very useful tips thanks

  • @chiheb0073 - thanks. Baz

  • Great Vid as usual , very helpful

  • @alanIreland3000 - thanks so much for that my friend. Baz

  • Hi Baz,

You think sometime eventually you could make a video that focuses on bulking up? I've been trying to Bulk up a good while now and not really seeing much results.

I'm not sure about which protien shakes or weight gain shakes I should use or if I should use weight gain shakes at all on top of the diet. Any help would be great.

    Thanks again Baz

  • @pauldeasy123 - yes that is a great idea. I spend most of my time trying to lose fat. lol As for weight gainers I think making your own is better. Get a good protein and add some fruit, a teaspoon of peanut butter with some skimmed milk and you will have a wonderful weight gainer. I would also increase the carbs intake by as small amount with each meal. Like 1.5 fist sizes carbs per meal. That should help you to gain weight. Baz

  • @BazBlog sounds alot more tasty then drinking it with water ha, great, I'll focus on that now when I'm doing my shopping tonight.. Thanks again for the advise! Genuinely greatly appreciated.

  • pure nutrition

  • @Cxeri93 - thanks. Baz

  • each day peoples want vitamins and minerals this is real fact

  • @Rockstarsss - absolutley. It is ultra important. Baz

  • Heya Baz...just came back to revisit this outstanding video!

  • @hipretty - thanks so much for that. Baz

  • @BazBlog also I wanted to ask you what you thought of incorporating wheat / gluten free pasta into a BB diet?

I love cornmeal (your maizemeal I am guessing) and enjoy it as a porridge or as a more solid polenta. But I tend to prefer brown rice pasta rather than corn pasta. Orgran has some awesome pastas with different combinations, corn, rice, rice millet, buckwheat. Would you eat that? Especially if you had it with some protein?

    Thanks.

Give my regards to your videographer! ;-)

  • @hipretty - I have gluten free pasta and it works fine.Yes I certainly would eat what you have available. Sounds perfect with protein. Baz

  • @BazBlog thanks for your reply Baz! :-)

  • @hipretty - pleasure. Baz

  • @BazBlog i wanna ask you something, recently i bought a whey gainer instead of protein because the shop owner told me im fairly skinny and should be taking gainer after my workout. which would you recommend? the gainer or protein

  • @sharpfraps - I use normal protein and add a banana or apple and blend it. That is very similar to a weight gainer. If you look on the tin you will see that the main difference is the weight gainer has loads more carbs. Depending on price would be if I buy or not, should I want to gain weight. Baz

  • Ur spot on the info, well dun :)

  • @WWEINCTRIPLEDPTYLTD - thanks so much for that. Baz

  • Thank you Baz for the advice. I think I take enough protein in my diet - do I still need to take protein shakes etc?

I take it vegetables and fruit are generally considered as carbohydrates? I find your videos very helpful and inspiring. Thanks again

  • @Raj17961 - no I would not take more if I am having enough with my meals. Most veges are carbs but there are some that are quite high in protein like beans. Baz

  • Hey Baz, just one question, whats the best multivitamin out there ??

  • @DUFFYISBACK - there are many. I read the label and make sure it has the proper vitimans and minerals. I also very buy the cheapest. Here you will pay for what you get. Baz

  • Meats are quite expensive for me to buy this regularly and i am looking to lose weight. what should i be eating?

  • @MrJLongy - Cottage cheese is cheap and so are beans. To lose weight eat 6 small meals a day and put in less then you use. Baz

  • :) this boy remembers me Doryan Yates

  • @RikiKnowledgeSkating - :) Baz

  • Hi Baz. Since I'm at University most of the time, and planning on hitting the gym there, how would you approach meal planning? Unlike home, I wouldn't have the eggs, chicken and cottage cheese readily available.

  • I eat eggs too. I mean I really eat eggs ;D but I have a huge question. How many eggs, or should I say egg whites do you recommend per serving, given body weight?

  • @amore101 - I would not have more than 3 egg whites with one full egg per meal. I would also not have that more than about once a day. Somtimes I do have that twice. There are loads of other proteins that are as good. Baz

  • props for looking like a beast considering your age. Keep it up, champ :)

  • @genericteen - thanks so much that is a very kind compliment. Baz

  • I use to eat a banana between two brown sandwiches. No butter

  • @RageBeast95 - that is quite a bit of carbs. Fine if you want to gain weight but where is the protein. Try to eat balanced meals. Chicken with whole wheat brown bread is not bad as a meal. Baz

  • Baz how many grams of protein do you personally have a day out of interest?

  • @rootsandvulture - try to average about 130 gms a day. I must admit I am not always spot on as food is a real weak point for me yet it is so important. Baz

  • I love South Arfikans!!!!

  • @milzeh - yes the are nice people. I am Zimbabwean. Baz

  • Hi Baz, love your vids, what's with the slimfast though?

I'm a runner but I do weights for lean muscle. Any advice on my diet welcome.

I try to eat protein & good carbs & keep fat low.

  • @milzeh - Thanks. If you look at the ingredients you will find a number of the diet drinks have great protein and other vitimans/minerals and if you add a fruit etc to them you have a wonderful protein shake. The only advice I can give you is make sure you diet is balanced and that you put in what you are going to use. More will gain weight and less will lose muscle mass. Baz

  • Congratulations for making such an excellent video. You are one of the best sources of info on this subject for me.

  • @cdlravenwolf - that is a really nice compliment. Thanks so much for posting it. Baz

  • Hey Baz , I was wondering whether Cheese was bad or good?

Also Honey , i've heard it is good for you but it tastes so good so i'm skeptical haha!

  • @colotron - normal cheese is very fatty so can have problems. Low fat cottage cheese is brilliant. Baz

  • That was helpful! Thanks!

  • @asfathe3 - pleasure. Baz

  • hello baz,

im using PCF rules(protein, carbs, fat) ,protein and fat is accurate....

but my carbs 100 more than the rules want to... so,is it good ?

just wanna take your advice :)

  • @spedorevo89 - that should not be a problem if you are thin and want to gain some weight. Most of the things people tell you and the systems are just really good guides but that is all they are. We are all different and so will have to adjust to get them to work best for us. Baz

  • Thank you Sir ... WE ALL LOVE BAZ

  • @HBK4ETERNITY - that is a lovely comment. Baz

  • Really good vid. Are protein shakes essential for helping you build muscle or would just eating correctly be sufficient enough? I'm rather skinny so I'm not looking to get huge muscles, I just want to build myself up.

  • @shredda23 - they are a very convenient way of taking protein. If you have the dedication to really eat well then I guess you can get away with it. I find them a much more controlled way of getting the protein the muscles really need. Baz

  • mr baz i love you

  • @ThouShaltNotComment - well thanks very much. Baz

  • Hi Baz I was wondering if you were English or Australian?

  • @purexquisite - I live in the UK but come from Zimbabwe. Baz

  • @purexquisite He's South African silly pants.

  • thank you very much. got some good ideas out of this.

you seem like a genuinely nice guy. all the best in 2012!

  • @bubbah1012 - thank very much for the very nice compliment. I hope 2012 goes really well for you too. Baz

  • Hey man I just subscribed i love your videos i'm 15 years old i'm a bit thin I wonder if those stuff are gonna work for my age

  • @TheAlexander7th - thanks so much for the sub. Yes eating right works at any age. It is the most important part of having a good looking body. Baz

  • What should I do with the spare egg yolks when I want egg whites? How should I keep them for future use etc as I can use the protein in that later on

  • @jhick8787 - The reason for taking them out is because of the fat in them. I throw them away. Why would you keep them to use them later if you are removing them because of the fat content. If you are not overweight then keep them in just do not have too many. Baz

  • Its just i have to eat free range eggs because i have a history of asthma , the doctor told me there better for you than regular eggs.

  • @badshabz1 - wow I did not know that. That is very interesting. I will check that out. Thanks a million for sharing that. Baz

  • Do you use free range eggs Baz?

  • @badshabz1 - yes i do but it does not worry me too much about where the eggs come from. Baz

  • Baz I know this is totally unrelated question and it is totally up to you if you wanna answer it . But i was wondering what is your proffesion. Are you in some kind of law enforcement career, or army..or just an athlete. I like the discipline and passion. So was wondering where does your motivation come from

  • @whodat16ip - I spent a good number of years fighting in a war many years ago. I do motivation work and help people with self development and how to be their best. I supply a program that I have written and work with them for 16 weeks. More of a mentor then an actual life coach. Baz

  • @BazBlog That is amazing. Great man !

  • @whodat16ip - NP. Baz

  • @BazBlog hey baz good to see you back, i wanted to ask you about protein shakes, i was wondering is maximuscle whey protein good

  • @JeezyRyder - thanks. Yes most products with whey protein are Ok. I go more on price then brand names. They are often over priced and do not do any more for the average person. Baz

  • @BazBlog thanks

  • @JeezyRyder - np. Baz

  • @BazBlog i also wanted to ask you in order to build more muscle is it necessary to increase the amount of weight you lift or can you increase the amount of reps you do with the same amount of weight and will you get the same results if you do this.

  • @JeezyRyder - it is recognised that in order to get growth you need to increase the weight. If you increase the reps you will go can go more down the aerobic route and build very little muscle. Baz

  • @BazBlog thanks again mate

  • @JeezyRyder - np. Baz

  • how can i work in 6 meals when i go to school from 7-2:45 pm...and i have a lunch at school at 11 30

  • @patriots19rule - yes it is tough at school. You have a tea time and in between classes you will have 5 minutes to have a cottage cheese and yoghurt or a shake or even a whole wheat chicken sandwich. Baz

  • Thanks Baz.

  • @azza246 - pleasure. Baz

  • lol i love this guys accent

  • @gseverson1 - That is a very nice thing to say. Baz

  • is sucrolose a good artificial sweetener?

  • @yg8ugu1 - There is a lot of ideas on what is the best one. What I do know is if you can stay away from aspartame. If you can use ones that do not have aspartame in them you will be far better off. Baz

  • @yg8ugu1 not sure, I just used stevia or splenda

  • @KebabTitan - I have heard that splenda is very good. I do not speak from experience here. I use hermasetas. They do not have aspartame in them. Baz

  • is soy milk good for males?

  • @yg8ugu1 - if you can use normal skimmed milk that I think is better. I have a dairy problem that is why I use soy milk. Baz

  • is brewers yeast powder good to add to protein shakes

  • @yg8ugu1 - yeast is a great source of vitamin B. I would not put in too much but yes I guess you can use it. Baz

  • What can I replace Whey Protein with? I'm too young for supplements and they are very expensive...=/

  • @marcusduck - you can make your own. I use eggs, fruit, peanut butter, skimmed milk and a bit of milo or something similar to give it flavour. Baz

  • Great video.

  • @UndeadDragonBorn - thanks very much. Baz

  • Hey Baz also I was wondering, when u talked about the chicken skin should I eat it since im a thin-to-normal sized person? and i'd like to gain weight/fat ?

    Much appreciated

  • @CLEANAH - I guess you can if you are thin but you need to eat good fat and I do not think chicken fat is that good. Rather have some olive oil on salad or something like that. Baz

  • Wow baz ur a very kind human being! responding to allot of people and giving them tips. U even send me a message trough youtube about gaining weight when I asked it and u referred me to this vid. I enjoyed it very much, and I'll definitely stick to this more often!

    Thanks so much Baz!

  • @CLEANAH - thanks so much and good luck my friend. Baz

  • Baz I'm a medical student, so don't have a lot of free time during the afternoons. How do I go about taking in six meals a day?? BTW I must say I'm impressed by how simple and to the point your videos are.

  • @SuperOs1000 - you need to make simple meals that you can eat on the go. Whole wheat chicken sandwich, Tuna salad, cottage cheese with yogurt. There are loads of ways you can eat quick good meals. Especially if you have access to a micro. Oats with protein powder mixed in. Tuna on a baked potato. Thanks I have tried to keep it simple as a guide to help people get started. What I do gives a great foundation to a really healthy good looking body. Baz

  • Must say it: Your accent is awesome bro. What do you think of pasta with kidney beans and tomato sauce??

  • @SuperOs1000 - no problem as a cup of kidney beans provides 15.3 grams of protein and the pasta is a great carb so all in all a good meal. Not too much tomato sauce. Thanks for the compliment the accent is Zimbabwean. Baz

  • @BazBlog Rhodesian !!

  • @Tralgit - Yes I guess born a Rhodesian and left a Zimbabwean. Times change. Baz

  • This is great, very informative and easy to understand. As said in earlier comments, your accent is cool !

  • @BigAndy515 - thanks so much. I have tried to keep it as simple as I can that will help people to get some results. Baz

  • thankx baz

  • @dat802 - pleasure my friend. Baz

  • Thank you for the video! Your accent is lovely btw.

  • @NezorePresents - that is a very kind compliment and thanks so much for the support. Baz

  • hello baz,is it true that,if i want to build up bigger chest or anything that just ONE PART,we need also exercise our leg,BECAUSE,the leg has a large muscle group ?

i really get confused BECAUSE,i already has a big body, now i trying to get ONLY bigger chest and arm....

  • @spedorevo89 - Yes I am a big believer in legs helping the whole body. It stimulates growth hormones. When you train your chest and arms then really focus on what you are doing. You will be surprised at how much better the training will go. Baz

  • @BazBlog

so,what should i do now ? train also my leg to get bigger chest and arm ?

  • @spedorevo89 - you should not miss out muscles in your training schedule. I have found that if I have the right size with a certain muscle I do not go heavy on that muscle. I go light with lots of reps so I keep the size and keep the muscle in good condition. The muscle I need to build I go heavy with lower reps. Baz

  • @BazBlog

    1=thanks for the advice baz

2=i see and download a lot of your video, and i found it really really helpful...

    3=EPIC video+EPIC channel+EPIC trainer=Epic WIN :)

  • @spedorevo89 - Thanks so much for the very kind compliments. I am so pleased you have found them helpful. Baz

  • @BazBlog

why some people fear about gaining fat than muscle ?

and how actually we can avoid it ?

  • @spedorevo89 - as you get older it is harder to lose fat. I think if you keep it simple you will always do the right thing. If you put in more then you use you will gain weight in the form of fat mostly. If you eat just enough and train then you will gain some muscle weight. If you do not put in enough you have to use something and that is normally muscle as the body is designed to hold fat for times of shortage. Baz

  • this is what i call a good guide not bull crap that people put on other sites

  • @xboxhunter199962 - thanks so much for the very nice compliment. Baz

  • now here's a man who knows what he's talking about. keep i
