Looking at the consist, that is the Star (91). The Metor ran with 3 sleepers. The Star ran with 2 and a dorm lounge. There was for a short time when they both ran with 2 sleepers, but 91 always had the dorm lounge right behind the baggage.
I have picked my friend who was visitng from NY about 10 years ago when he first came down here by train, so I know the station very well. Im from Oviedo.
The sound of carriages braking is very good! I like that! And the sound of bogeys against rail is amazing! I don't understand the utility of a bell toiling but that's it.
Hey! I used to go there frequently on Saturday afternoons to feed the squirrels, pidgeons, and watch the Silver Meteor chug on through! I miss it, now that I live in San Jose, CA.
The engineer must have reconized someone he knew cause he blew "shave and a haircut, two bits" on the horn. BTW that second P42 #80 looked like it has had a rough life on Amtrak
Such memories. I haven't stood there since i was 6 years old. Looks exactly like it did then :).
