VW T4 Transporter 2.5TDi Noise from AUX area Video 1

My mom's 2000 Vw Caravelle T4 2.5tdi makes the same sort of noise at start up and switch off but just louder when warm and quieter when cold. Another thing is that when making that noise it also has a sort of rattle to the squeek at start up and switch off.

the more I hear and read, the more I'm convinced it's the crank pulley harmonic balancer. There's no knowing for sure until you have removed and inspected the rubber piece inside to see if it is cracked or worn away.

got the same pig squeal on start up and switch off, some reckon it's the harmonic balancer (crank pulley) and some reckon it's to do with the exhaust down pipe seal.

Thanks for your comment mate, I'm going to do the belts this week so will probably change the harmonic balancer to make sure, will be interested to see if that cures it, if not I wonder if it's a tensioner or something?. What T4 Have you got?, Mine is a 2004 Long nose X-Pack Panel van, bought it to do a camper conversion.
