  • AWESOME!!!!! LIVING IN CLIP GOT ME THROUGH MY 20'S!!!!!!

  • i fucking love this song

  • get it, girl!

  • Oooh I like her voice. What is her most well known song? I just came across her by chance...

  • @Lem0nie I am sure by now you have heard "Plastic Castle", if not, DO IT, it is one of the most poetic songs this great poetic artist has ever created.

  • @Lem0nie Try "Untouchable Face", or "32 Flavours" or "Little Plastic Castle". With Ani, spin the wheel, listen to whatever song comes up, enjoy, and repeat. She doesn't have a single bad song, IMNSHO.

  • if I ever get the chance to see her live, she better play this song. :)

  • I came across this video and read the description at the bottom when I realized I was at this show. It was awesome. Red Rocks is a cool venue to shows.

  • badassery.

  • She's an amazing singer and guitarist :) Ani Difranco <3

  • What a woman! : )

Also, if you haven't yet delved in, check out her spoken word.......... and ALL of her music!! LOL! But then you should be inspired!! *giggle* maybe write a song or two of your own.. I'm not kidding! If you don't write, maybe you will paint something beautiful.. don't pait, maybe you will build something, or create something! Who knows! Either way, you will be inspired! Do something with it! ; )

  • I am 26 and this woman has been an inspiration to me as long as I can remember! She is a truly AMAZING woman, but remember, she is calling out to all of US! Listen to "face up"..... Seriously! Every girl/ woman has an incredible fire inside, let us each participate, not just appreciate! Though appreciation is good, participation is far greater!! :) Rise up SISTERS! Let us each do something, no matter how big or small, each day to make a difference..

    Namaste'

    Listen to Ani!! <3

  • I feel like on crack with her.. Very energetic

  • I'm fifteen. This woman has been my idol for as long as I can remember.

She's coming to my city soon, and I have tickets.

I can't even believe this can happen.

  • Enjoy! That show will supercede any experience you have listening to her on recording :)

  • I'm 19, and I feel the same. I bet we got into her around the same time, given a few years. Mom would always play her music in the car when I was in school back home.

I went to one of her concerts once, dunno if you've been to the one in your city yet..

but if you haven't, be prepared for a wicked performance!

  • can someone email me the mp3 version of this song

  • Wow, she's talented :]

  • this doesn't start at the beginning but this is a really good song!!

  • I love this. She looks tired though - kinda burned from the road or something... She's a tour hag! Love it.

  • Strength!!!!!! You go Ani!

  • heart. and. soul. heart. and. soul!

  • whaaaat a woman!

  • Ugh I feel so undignified when I listen to her music, I feel almost primitive it is such a great release.. She's left her mark on history with her words.

  • She's brutal to her guitar. lol

  • i saw her a year ago and it was all fire and energy.

  • I miss Ani's days of high energy from back then... I saw her in 1996 for the first time and she was on fire then...

  • Yeah, it was the second time I saw her. The first time was in 97 at the Boulder Field House. Thanks for posting such a great vid!

  • I only heard this song recently. It's an absolute wowzer of a song. Prompted me to listen to most of her others. Gah, if I only got into her and Aimee Mann before!

She does performs it amazingly well.

  • just watched "wise up" by aimee mann because of your comment. OMG. i owe you. ;)

I also really like her drummer, Andy Stochansky..really good musician too...thanks for posting this!

  • yeah, she's awesome. seeing her live is indescribable.

you should check out some of the other musicians on her record label. some of them are pretty good too. none can hold a candle to ani, of course... she's one of a kind.

  • ITS gotta be the billionth time she's played this....and she does it with THIS energy

  • its no wonder why she has hand problems...

    The Folksinger ROCKS

  • lol great, but she looks like she steroiding/siezuring out in the intro how she shakes haha... the live performance of not a pretty girl is still my fav... with the horns etc.

  • you're commmenting out.

    :)

If you're watching, you're loving all of her.

  • she's so sick with it... plays her guitar so easily like tapping fingernails in thin-air

  • She's daaamn good on guitar. Shes just amazing all around. Mm Ah Oh Ani

  • goto say shes pretty damn good guitar player as well as singer song writer

  • there's a couple of "spruce up your badass side" songs ani wrote :-))))

  • This is an awesome to recover from your lover fucking someone else. Thanks babe.

  • Red Rocks in Colorado??? I saw her there in...2001. She was SO amazing.

  • yaaaay

  • she is awesome hope she never stops making music, it's the best i ever heard and i can play her c.ds again and again and never tire

  • she looks like she is moving in fast forward.... I like it.

  • fucken love this performance

  • whoa thats red rocks in colorado...how wicked.

    god i love her.

  • She was fantastic live...so empowering and passionate.

  • I totally agree. Sometimes the crowds can get on your nerves, but once you focus on Ani... the rest just melts away.

  • We saw her for the first time in Philadephia I can't tell you when. She opened for Bob Dylan. She was amazingly unique and fascinating. When it was Bob's turn, we had to leave. The performance was just incredibly terrible.

  • that's too bad about BD. funny you should say that because the very first time i saw an article about her in a magazine she was opening for him. that was maybe 12 or 13 years ago--but i think she's played with him more than once maybe? anyway, small world.

  • Hello Romperjet. I'm guessing it was at least that long ago at the Mann Music center. I thought her playing was akin to 'cardio' acoustic. How she keeps her strings from breaking is beyond me. There are concerts where the opening act is the jewel. I'll reveal my age by this: Another jewel opening act for me was Chicago opening for Iron Butterfly. When was that? 1969ish? Amazing I know how to work a computer! Merry Christmas to you. Now there's an opening act of grace...

  • yeah, she breaks lots of strings at her concerts. Chicago must have been a sweet act; can't imagine seeing them back in the day. hope your holidays went well. :)

  • Thanks for the kind words. Holidays good and hopefully your's too. I'm amazed by the relative size of the guitar Ani being petite. Also like how the bass guitarist "Indiana Jones" is grooving to the beat in the background right around 1:15.

  • Such passion in her performance, you can see she really means it.. everything comes through, true artist!

    Kristin <3<3<3

  • LOVE THIS FUCKIN SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • me too. :]

  • ani is a goddess!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg... she's amazing!

  • You're missing a verse before it. But this is one of my favorite songs of hers.

  • I've got an audio recording of this song from the same era (Julie, Andy & Jason). The first verse has Ani singing over Julie's piano... it's kind of the best thing ever. Would've been nice to catch a video of it.

  • Ani is the best guitarist in the world! love her.

  • By far her best song in my opinion. great energy.

  • Damn, she's hot.

  • My favourite DiFranco song. I love her emotion in this song. It just captures me every time.

Sigh, I love her so much!

  • Yes, she puts a lot into her music. I just hope she continues to tour, now that she has a kid.

  • lol the guitars almost as big as she is... how cute :) i love it <3

  • Fuck...Ani's ripped o.o

  • did y'all notice th (2) broken strings at the end of this vid?? I thought it sounded a little transparent at the end!!

  • can someone facilitate, in finding the song with lyrics about not needing to wear lipstick anymore?

  • Little Plastic Castle is probably the one you're looking for :)

GOOD LUCK. she's the best best best!

  • I believe the song that you are looking for is called "Fuel".

  • both little plastic castle and fuel refer to lipstick. little plastic castle says something about "like lipstick is a sign of my declining mind." fuel talks about "the lipstick on the whores."

wow its sad i didnt have to look up the lyrics to know that.

  • That's not sad. It just shows you have a good memory. ;)

  • I dig her original lyrics and jazzy voice.

  • scary? I think she's hot, in any evolved phase! But, anyway... love the music to this one! Much different than the CD versions.

  • She has a really good voice. ^.^

Did you know that before concerts she has to tape her nails to her fingertips so they don't break because she strums so hard?

My sister is an obsessive. >.>

  • Actually this video it's from 007/01/1998...that was the last tour Andy played with Ani.

  • this is an OLD video!! Andy is on the drums....and she looks REALLY scary!! but i still love her...shes my queen!
