LOL Cows are also held in free-standing pens at times, and I assure you, they crap themselves just as readily. They let loose wherever they are. Pigs choose a corner, go to that corner. It doesn't matter what you eat : cows or pig. What you put in your mind determine your intelligence more than your food.
Any mammal could be a good pet as long as owner is willing to take time to fullfill its needs and train it. I prefer horses, dogs and cats to pigs or cows.

sorry I didnt make myself clear... I personally dont find the buddhist statues offensive... but islam forbids the depictions of divine images. Christianity and judaism at their extreme also forbid the worship of idols (statues etc).

As a Buddhist I would have to say that it is useless being attached to these statues for a worshiping reason, but we look at what it represents, an idea and ideas are bullet proof (V for Vendetta :P). Ajahn Brahm said that once a man asked him for a Buddha pendant to protect him from bullets, Ajahn said that the only Buddha that will protect you from bullets is one of those big metals ones in the temple!:P

But the UN wanted to send money to repair the statues from the damage the british did for target practice years ago. Afganistan was in a severe drought and request that money be used for food. UN said no. Money is best used for people than to repair a statue. I am sure Buddha would agree. Taliban then said fine then no statue.
