@firef1yyy I agree. the whole song is the sound of loneliness. when i was making a huge decision of my life, i sat awake in bed for about 7 hours listening to this over and over til I knew what decision I would make. made me feel even more lonely but it helped.
Hearing this just makes me want to be sitting in my leather armchair by the hearth in my English mansion, sipping scotch on the rocks, while pondering where I went wrong...
@darkmousy2007 please stop posting annoying comments mentioning that kids name, whats the point of coming on here to just hate on a talent-less kid. comment on the song or on the band.
think this song is about a person who is far more brilliant and advanced than others. he feels pain to see that no one understands where he is coming from. his time is a dark time and he has the solution. now in my opinion alot of metal is associated with satanic and occult themes, that's just the way it is. but people are so ignorant they have no idea what that even means. satanism is an advanced belief system, the oldest on this planet.
I know i'm just saying what this song is about :) and your comment was really dumb though.. you are probaly believing in yourself so you are a satanist without even knowing it haha
@GuitarCoverErik it is very advanced and based on some of the oldest known principles and facts, but the actual religion is not the oldest. i do agree... sometimes u know so much or have so many realizations that u are in the dark and alone because nobody seems to understand you.
@GuitarCoverErik Ghost reveries is a concept album about a man who gets possessed by a malefic entity and kills his family, this song is part of the story.
@TheRaven0us Yes, take a look at the lyrics. The opening part of Ghost of Perdition is when he kills his mother, The Grand Conjuration is about his possession by the malefic entity.
the Satanist does not worship Satan in the theistic sense, but is an adversary to all spiritual creeds and religions. actually a modern pagan religion, and is concentrated on a more peaceful, harmonious and balanced way of life. It is actually a belief system that is of pre-Christian that is mostly how our ancestors lived and worshipped. It is known to be one of the oldest belief systems known in the world today, and is generally frowned upon by the modern Christian church
@TheRaven0us I guess "jewish" would be more precise, as example, go to the Hiob book's introduction. But that's just a detail.
Where i will (maybe) agree with you, is that : who the heck cares about beliefs and other bullshit, be it oldest or newest on this planet, when you got such a masterpiece in your ears. Honestly, how can people even write such pointless comments?
I don't care either i just post a comment how i relate to this song and everyone here is going nuts about it, not my problem haha... and i love this song <3
Makes me think back on High School. I isolated myself from everyone else, and became a recluse. Would use isolation as a way of hiding from my own problems. I missed out on so much. A first friend. A first date. A first kiss. Love. I had so much free time with no responsibility. I elected to wait out my time until college, thinking I would be away from everyone else, and I can start anew. Which was true. But now that that's over, I feel I missed out on so much.
@RyanVonFleming Fuck sake I will find each and every one of you retarded bastards that leave those types of comments. I will then proceed to rip off your head and shit down your neck while simultaneously fucking your nostrils. Prick.
I'm a huge dream theater fan and i'm just starting to get into opeth. I got ghost reveries and still life. listened to both all the way through and i'm now just letting it sink in. The growling vocals, something i'm not used to are starting to grow on me and i'm trying to keep an open mind about it. But what is a really good cd to get into opeth? for a dream theater fan? i think i like ghost reveries the most out of the two i got.
@senecadawg2 Blackwater park and Watershed are your best bet I'd say. Or damnation if you're still not sure about growling, since it is all clean vocals. Drapery falls and Hessian Peel got me into growling i'd say. Watershed is their most progressive, and Blackwater park is just the best overall lmao. So get both. On second thought, buy all of their albums, cuz everything is good :P
.......Incredible. The melodies in Opeth's music just flow so brilliantly. They are truly an inspiring band to listen to. The guitar solo is full of such feel and passion, yet it's chilled out in a way that makes it just.....perfect. The tone blows me away. And nothing in Opeth is unnecessary. Every part is there because it needs to be there.
Props for all times, you guys are musical geniuses.
mikael is by far my favorite guitarrist, not by his tecnical skills, but the melodies he creats are unparallel to any other guitar player. Opeth my favorite band
My old music teacher said she loved music. But i asked about several genres, she said she hated them all. How can you love music if you hate so much of it?
I've listened to metal all of my life, yet Opeth will always be the band to bring out the most emotion in me. Everytime I listen to Ghost Reveries, I become a new person.
Everyone im sorry for my faggy comment^ up their. It was 6 months ago so I didn't know better. But Opeth is one of the most amazing things that have ever came into my life musically... So yeah.

@4everTOBEapart On the song 'Dirge for November' in the beginning after the singing, on top of the acoustic guitar there is an electric guitar riff. I heard it and forgot what song it was and for weeks it killed me, then I finally remembered.
@4everTOBEapart Ending riff from songs Deliverance and many riff parts (icluding the ending part) from Reverie/Harlequin Forest, All the riffs from songs Bleak, April Ethereal and Atonement, Beginning riff of the song Ghost Of Perdition. Riffs from Windowpane. If you ask for a solo, That would be indoubtly(I know I spelled that word wrong) A Funeral Portrait. Thats all I can come up with right now. There are of course many other good riffs from them but I just cant remember at the moment.
This is so amazing... Perfect. And I can't compare it to any hip hop or anything since it has nothing to do with that gender, and I don't even like that stuff. But this is simply great.
@LolOmmfgWtf If you ask for metal music, Dream Theater in my opinion, although they are somewhat different they have some really great albums like Scenes from a Memory and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. If you ask for rock music, King Crimson and Van Der Graaf Generator deals a killing blow.

i could fall asleep and die to this song because its one of the most beautiful songs ever that make such an lovely, somber, ahprodisiac sound it has to be the last thing you hear alive and the first thing you hear in death

Found a way to rid myself clean of pain And the fever that's been haunting me Has gone away Looking through my window I seem to recognize All the people passing by But I am alone And far from home And nobody knows me Never heard me say goodbye Never shall I speak to anyone again All days are in darkness And I'm biding my time Once I'm sure of my task I will rise again
i dont understand why bands like opeth and porcupine tree dont get the recognition they deserve. this music is amazing, full of soul and meaning. and only 35,000 views? its almost sickening...

i dont understand why bands like opeth and porcupine tree dont get the recognition they deserve. this music is amazing, full of soul and meaning. and only 35,000 views? its almost sickening...
