sure, let's cover up any sensibility with pop-culture, lalalalala (I can't hear you!)- hey yeah, dude, don't cry, drink some sugary syrup! and PLEASE come off that opera stage, you look stupid, man, chill!!
Cute little kid - bloody post-modern idiotic message.
A guy couldnt find a work. An alcoholic, divorced, and out of home. He join the circus and became a clown. Another clown screwing his love then began drinking alot. Tired, miserable, and drinking some more. He wore a happy makeup, after the show he drinks, all wrinkley. Then in front of a pale moonlight he sings.....
@NE76JO No, he kills his wife at the end of the opera. This aria is sung about halfway through it, after he's just found out his wife's cheating on him. Then he has to go on with the performance and he kills onstage during the show.
Frank Larpardo sings this aria so beautifully. its astounding! I really like to get a recording of the whole song but can't find one. If anyone see one will you let me know thanks. :^)
this is so moronic! people we've just witnessed the commercialization of the most beautiful piece written by Leoncavallo! (not to mention the recent simpsons stunt)
azz avevo solamente 6anni quando la coca cola pensò a questo meraviglioso spot per il loro prodotto!!!!da li posso dire di aver apprezzato ancora di più la coca cola ,e di essermi innamorato dell'opera!!!
@777Lloyd777 Seems like it's you who doesn't know what's the singer singing: "laugh, clown, at your broken love, laugh at the pain that poisons your heart"...it's OBVIOUS he's deeply sad and, apparently, a coke will cheer him up.
It's stupid, of course, but it is a commercial ad and, in fact, a rather good one.
Fucking Bastard Advertising Fuckers! ... Soiling one of the greatest operatic moments in the history of the art form to sell a carbonated drink that's full of sugar ... I feel sick. Idea for a future advert - Tearful woman giving evidence in a rape trial, child comes forward bearing a bottle of Coca-cola and she smiles wanly and drops the charges. Or - A man dying of an inoperable brain tumour lying in hospital bed, child brings him a bottle of Coke and we watch him die with a smile on his face?
yes, still in those cases, it would look great and stil acomplish the point of this AD. One thing though, you can look at this commercial the way you want, focusing on buying Coke, or ignoring that and look at the point of interest-free, pure heart love from an inoccent child, who doesnt get this is a performance and only sees at the HUGE sadness the Pagliacci is going thru, moving him to share something or anything, a lullipop, a toy,a huge,or in this case,a coke next 2 him.
0:13 and onward--My God, what a beautiful voice! I wish there was a full recording of this singer performing this aria; he does an amazing job.
And this commerical is just epic on so many levels. Who'd have ever thought that Pagliacci's sorrows could be cured with a Coke? This is why it's better than Pepsi. :)
@DrSpecht01 ich denke schon das sich der witz auf diesen pagliacci bezieht, auch wenn der joke wohl nicht im stück vorkommt :) (jedoch ist die intention nicht verfehlt)
@truewarriorx From the opera Pagliacci, this song is "Vesti la Giubba" ("Wear the suit"). The guy playing the clown just realized his wife loves another dude, but he's gotta play the clown next so he has to put on the suit and the makeup and act silly and laugh and make people laugh even though he's torn up with rage and sadness inside.
I heard joke once. Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Life seems harsh... and cruel. Says he feels all alone in threatening world. Doctor says treatment is simple, "the great clown Pagliacci is in town, go see him. That should pick you up."
Man bursts into tears. "But doctor," he says, "I AM Pagliacci."
Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains.
desde mi punto de vista, no lo vería como un desastre que el niño halla irrumpido así, sino como el poder de la música para transmitir sentimientos tan fuertes, y la inocencia del niño para alegrarle el día a alguien... claro hablando solo en el caso de este comercial
Hey I'm sorry you're wife's a cheating hoe-bag who broke your heart and stamped on the pieces but look on the bright side, you have a 12 ounce bottle of cola!

@TheKillerofhipies The name of the song is "Vesti la giubba" from the opera Pagliacci. The opera is about a traveling circus clown.
