If McLaren had held Hamilton back in his debut year and said "hey, just use this year as a learning year, let Alonso be #1", he'd be a three time WDC. @Balnazzardi Absolutely right there. Schumi earned his #1 status. He proved he was better than Irvine and Rubens. He played the #2 role without complaints when Eddie had his shot after Schumi broke his leg (much like Kimi did in 2008). Alonso on the other hand, waltzed into McLaren and demanded to be #1 in his first (and only) year there. With Ferrari, they seem to have accepted that they should give Alonso what he wants and he hasn't even really had to ask since Massa's off his best form.

So if Fisichella had picked up points in any of those races that he did not finish or did not start, the championship would have been much closer. And also because in races like this one in the video where Fisichella was beating Alonso, the team told Fisichella to hold back. Therefore giving Alonso more points.
