yes its much easier in PS but for people who cant afford photoshop or just prefer gimp, this is equally as good , though i was able to create a much better result in CS4 with inner and outer glow, good tut tho, also can you message me with the links to some of your best work?, thanks

Just made a simple glow effect harder. Under filters go to alpha script fu and select neon. it takes a total of 2 seconds...
