The pipeline passes through Ukraine, and in the past Russia has cut off supplies to western Europe, because the Ukraine had not paid their bills (in other words it's Germany, and France's problem to fix if Ukraine cant pay their bills)

In Germany this is not simply happening because the people get it. We have incredibly powerful energy corporations and energy lobbys in Germany aswell.

They misinform, buy media time, lobby parliaments, spread fear,...

Germanys renewable revolution is the work of people & politicans who fought for the cause of renewables for decades.

You can do the same in the US. The people will get it, but those who are knowledgable have to organize and unmask the lies.

Basicly everything new home build is a low-energy home, more and more Passivhouse-Standard buildings aswell.... But PlusEnergy homes... Thats the dream ;-)

There are more and more "Energy Independent" Regions here aswell. Maybe you could talk about that ;-) That's pretty cool.

In Germany they have "feed-in tariffs" which means every German has access to the nation-wide electricity grid.

You can sell the electricity surplus from the wind power plant or solar panel on your roof right into the grid and EARN money.

This is part of the agenda to make the country 100% self-sufficient by 2050.

As side benefit the German renewable energy industry has already created about 330.000 jobs and analysts expect about 650.000 jobs until 2020 in Germany alone.

China already have high speed mono rail going 501 km/h (311 mph) . They don't even need air travel any more. Now Germans beat us to renewal energy too. I need to install my own solar panels soon.
