America, valued and admired for its individualism; an individualism which has no connection to Los Angeles or NYC...or Chicago, for that matter...some folks originate- others get rich exploiting those who have originated. The character, history, and heart that came out of the stockyards, factories and neighborhoods of cities like Chicago and NYC from the turn of the century through the 50s is just as much a part of what makes this country great as the rural areas of the South. Much of the individualism comes from the South, and from the North as well. My guess is you live in the south and haven't had a chance to really explore a major city like Chicago or NYC much.

European heritage influenced much of the north's character and soul. but there's no question the present day cities of the north are much more cultured and individualistic than the present day cities of the south. On a side note, If you want to figure out if you lived in the largest city for in the world for 10 years, they have, like, statistics and such with actual figures you can read about.
