I've been doing my research for possibly getting a copperhead. Would you recommend a copper head as a beginner snake? I currently own a Dumeril's boa.
Viperkeeper, just saw some videos of you on ssssnakeman's site. Looks like you had (are having) a great time in Australia. Looking forward to seeing some of your close ups of the Eastern Brown.
I love the videos, Can you put the websites up, I have a Boa, two ball Pythons and A childern's Python, And for now, when i clean the bins, I'll Either hold them or I have pillow cases that i put them in, and that Red bin you had looked cool!!
always makes me jealous to here that you guys get to have australian snakes. you must have a lot of antivenom for taipans and brown snakes i doubt it would be common over there.
hey viper keeper right now i handle constricter snakes in my collection but im getting interested in venomous snakes do you suggest getting into that or no also my home state of rode island just passed a law that people in this state will not be allowed to purchase or keep large constrictors any longer can you tell me how to maybe go against this law because i am a very responsible snake owner and they r very well taking care of thank you for any advice you can give me
Hello, you seem to be both a scientist and a collector. In what ways do you think snakes are intelligent ? What have you learned from snakes other than always being on your guard ? Do you think there is/ are some undiscovered species left in the wild ? Do you consider the snake to be the most evolve of the reptiles ? Do you approve this trend to breed ball pythons for their color morphing ? Perhaps will you make a video someday and comment your thoughts on todays reptile industry?
pls do you know of any non-venomous snake that likes to bite a lot ? i would like something like that to practice avoiding bites before i purchase something that can kill me (sorry for my english, not my native language)
Thank you Al ! I find your channel informative, educational and entertaining. I happened across your channel as I was researching information before I purchased my first snakes. No, they are not venomous .... I will leave that to you. I do appreciate this video and the information contained in it, however, I have watched most all of your videos and some several times and surmised most of the info from them. It is still nice to know. Keep up the awesome job you are doing. Be well and safe!
What is your opinion on Rhabdophis tigrinus? Would you say it is poisonous or are you of the opinion it is not truly poisonous, as it obtains the toxins from it's prey?
I apologize if I missed it in the video, but I was wondering which specimen is the oldest in your permanent collection(if you have a permanent collection) and which would be the youngest? In one of your videos one of the snakes you had you commented on being rather old (Jabba I think was the snake in question)
Great Al!!! hope people will stop asking the same questions every time. Now, you travel quite often. Does your wife take care of your snake while you are gone? does Bob still do it?
@fvar86 Bob still handles them since she is just begun her venomous training with some of the less toxic, relaxed species like the Night Adders & Coral Cobras.
Too many scientific names in these vids I already have to memorize phylum, class, order, family and scientific names for over 500 animals in my animal diversity class one of the classes I have to take to get my degree in zoology. Don't have enough room in my brain for even more scientific names.
You may already know this but GoPro sells an LCD screen that includes the require deep backdoor for the case. It's around $79. You may want to look into it.
Speaking of which though, I noticed you took some shots using the timelapse feature, it may be interesting if you made a video of it to give us an idea of what the snakes do all day. Just something to think about.
Hey Al, I just wanted to let you know that I find your videos incredibly fascinating and most of all very educational!!! Watching your videos is honestly one of the things that inspired me to go to University to get my degree in zoology!!! I wish you all the best and keep up all the great work you do for this amazing hobby!!!!!
Some very interesting information, some of which I hadn't even thought to ask. I made some notes on some of the equipment/supply sources you gave, as I am planning on getting some Ball Pythons in the near future and am starting to look at and compare cages, substrate, heating systems, etc.
To those that say "why do you keep them if you can't hold them"
Snakes do NOT desire to be held, they do NOT need social interaction, the non venomous snakes that we handle on a day to day basis simply deal with it.
great video, very educational viperkeeper. have a great day and looking forward to more of your videos. thank you for sharing your knowledge and time with your fans and subscribers
Great video. I've been watching for a few months but still learned.. I've been wanting to know about the water bottle but was afraid it was on the annoying question list.. Thanks.
Hey al about the substrate question. its not really common sense like you say because rodents are not soaking wet in the wild. try to get a bunch of subsrate on a dry rodent
You sir, are one of the reasons that made me come to my senses and not purchase a venomous snake. I really love watching these videos, and the animals are incredible, however I am just not ready for a venomous as of now. Keep up the videos and thank you a ton!
Hi Al - there have been a few spieces that have been found to be poisonous , only one i can remember was the Garter snake , although why anyone in there right mind would want to eat one.....
@22orioles While you are correct, it doesn't really matter. Unless you eat it, it isn't going to effect you.....although Rhabdophis species are up there in venom toxicity.....There's no antivenom for them, so you will need luck on your side to survive a bite.
@JnJzation Did you watch the video? Especially if you did, why is this a question that needs to be answered?
