  • I've been doing my research for possibly getting a copperhead. Would you recommend a copper head as a beginner snake? I currently own a Dumeril's boa.

  • @reptilia5 Did you not watch this video?

  • I have a question. Do the anti-venom have a experation date on them or do they last forever?

  • @LVHeat29 Yes, they have an expiration date, generally 3 yr from manufacture.

  • Semi-safe interaction with them

    Hahaha :D Great video(s)!

  • Semi-safe interaction with them

    Hahaha :D

  • Perhaps I am wrong, but some poison can be absorbed through the skin, can it not?

  • @ToaPlasticninja Not un-broken skin.

  • Viperkeeper, just saw some videos of you on ssssnakeman's site. Looks like you had (are having) a great time in Australia. Looking forward to seeing some of your close ups of the Eastern Brown.

  • hey viperkeeper,

I love the videos, Can you put the websites up, I have a Boa, two ball Pythons and A childern's Python, And for now, when i clean the bins, I'll Either hold them or I have pillow cases that i put them in, and that Red bin you had looked cool!!

    Thanks,

    Nikki

  • @Shuttlelover101 What website, please.

  • @viperkeeper ,

the two You were talking about in the video??? I was with the water bottle and the red bin you had!!! I love your Videos!!!!!!

    Nikki

  • @Shuttlelover101 usplastic period com

  • hello viperkeeper! i am just now starting to keep larger snakes, what snakes would you recommend and which ones should i stay away from? thanks!

  • Mind blowing interview....Please don't ever change VIPERKEEPER!!

  • I hope you can add Philippine Cobra to your collection (Naja philippinensis) one of the lesser known Cobra species. :)

  • Hey were did you get those cages?

  • @wootstalker google vision cages

  • always makes me jealous to here that you guys get to have australian snakes. you must have a lot of antivenom for taipans and brown snakes i doubt it would be common over there.

  • realist shit ever " its not about watching a rodent die for your blood lust. its about learning more about a species" respect

  • i don't keep snakes yet...but do you have a video of you setting up a cage from start to finish cage... and love you videos. keep up the great work!

  • hey viper keeper right now i handle constricter snakes in my collection but im getting interested in venomous snakes do you suggest getting into that or no also my home state of rode island just passed a law that people in this state will not be allowed to purchase or keep large constrictors any longer can you tell me how to maybe go against this law because i am a very responsible snake owner and they r very well taking care of thank you for any advice you can give me

  • @iveyjohnny Sorry...I can't advise you...your screwed at the hands of your own government. Land of the free my ass.

  • Hello, you seem to be both a scientist and a collector. In what ways do you think snakes are intelligent ? What have you learned from snakes other than always being on your guard ? Do you think there is/ are some undiscovered species left in the wild ? Do you consider the snake to be the most evolve of the reptiles ? Do you approve this trend to breed ball pythons for their color morphing ? Perhaps will you make a video someday and comment your thoughts on todays reptile industry?

  • @Remro88 I have no time to answer 20?...The reptile industry and keepers are their own worst enemy's. Nothing more needs to be said.

  • Do for a living

  • Nice video. One of my friends does the same job in Madison, WI and I've always wondered what you

  • pls do you know of any non-venomous snake that likes to bite a lot ? i would like something like that to practice avoiding bites before i purchase something that can kill me (sorry for my english, not my native language)

  • Thank you Al ! I find your channel informative, educational and entertaining. I happened across your channel as I was researching information before I purchased my first snakes. No, they are not venomous .... I will leave that to you. I do appreciate this video and the information contained in it, however, I have watched most all of your videos and some several times and surmised most of the info from them. It is still nice to know. Keep up the awesome job you are doing. Be well and safe!

  • What kind of non venomous snakes does your wife keep?

  • Those white square cages look interesting--who made them? They look potentially really, really neat for some small to mid sized arboreal lizards.

  • @paulwhite959 Herp cages dot com

  • Nicely done.

  • What is your opinion on Rhabdophis tigrinus? Would you say it is poisonous or are you of the opinion it is not truly poisonous, as it obtains the toxins from it's prey?

  • I apologize if I missed it in the video, but I was wondering which specimen is the oldest in your permanent collection(if you have a permanent collection) and which would be the youngest? In one of your videos one of the snakes you had you commented on being rather old (Jabba I think was the snake in question)

  • @dnd12432 The Saw-scales are the oldest in my collection, The newest are 1.3 P.j. xanthomelas I just received.

  • What are your thoughts on the Lacey Act?

  • @BastillEnt Just like every thing the government is involved in, it does not work as intended and causes bad side effects.

  • You're pretty much the badass of the century, viperkeeper.

  • @RockinToke Thanks :-)

  • Hey al I just wanted to say that was a great video. What ambient temperature do you keep your snake room at?

  • @hockenburyj2 70 to 76 deg.

  • Great Al!!! hope people will stop asking the same questions every time. Now, you travel quite often. Does your wife take care of your snake while you are gone? does Bob still do it?

    thanks Al......and take care

  • @fvar86 Bob still handles them since she is just begun her venomous training with some of the less toxic, relaxed species like the Night Adders & Coral Cobras.

  • Dont forget us old tymers when you become even more famous! (Steve Prior)!

  • Thanks for the very informative video.

  • Too many scientific names in these vids I already have to memorize phylum, class, order, family and scientific names for over 500 animals in my animal diversity class one of the classes I have to take to get my degree in zoology. Don't have enough room in my brain for even more scientific names.

  • @chronic124 Why bother memorizing? In 20 years the names will be changed to better reflect our better understanding of phylogeny.

  • Sign me up for a t-shirt definitely!!! :) Great video Al. Thank you for your constant contribution to education. :D

  • Go to the whitehouse website and sign the petition to stop the python ban.

  • You may already know this but GoPro sells an LCD screen that includes the require deep backdoor for the case. It's around $79. You may want to look into it.

Speaking of which though, I noticed you took some shots using the timelapse feature, it may be interesting if you made a video of it to give us an idea of what the snakes do all day. Just something to think about.

  • Hey Al, I just wanted to let you know that I find your videos incredibly fascinating and most of all very educational!!! Watching your videos is honestly one of the things that inspired me to go to University to get my degree in zoology!!! I wish you all the best and keep up all the great work you do for this amazing hobby!!!!!

  • great vid.. thanks mate :)

  • Some very interesting information, some of which I hadn't even thought to ask. I made some notes on some of the equipment/supply sources you gave, as I am planning on getting some Ball Pythons in the near future and am starting to look at and compare cages, substrate, heating systems, etc.

  • To those that say "why do you keep them if you can't hold them"

Snakes do NOT desire to be held, they do NOT need social interaction, the non venomous snakes that we handle on a day to day basis simply deal with it.

  • your wife is very cool

  • great video, very educational viperkeeper. have a great day and looking forward to more of your videos. thank you for sharing your knowledge and time with your fans and subscribers

  • Could you show us some of your wife's snakes?

  • lol heat rocks burn very animal i had as a youngster

  • You should make this your feature video, might cut down the questions.

  • @Carnuss I am

  • as my first i am going to get the ferdelance should i get or should i get the russells viper

  • @carnuss as my first i am going to get the ferdelance should i get or should i get the russells viper

  • Great video. I've been watching for a few months but still learned.. I've been wanting to know about the water bottle but was afraid it was on the annoying question list.. Thanks.

  • Thanks for taking the time out for the lesson ViperKeeper.

  • For the new "fang" lers ,he,he.

  • Hey al about the substrate question. its not really common sense like you say because rodents are not soaking wet in the wild. try to get a bunch of subsrate on a dry rodent

  • @markblemings Point taken, however, there scurry through the underbrush and are not perfectly dry either.

  • You sir, are one of the reasons that made me come to my senses and not purchase a venomous snake. I really love watching these videos, and the animals are incredible, however I am just not ready for a venomous as of now. Keep up the videos and thank you a ton!

  • Great video! Thanks :-)

  • First I would like to say thanks for all the great informative videos you have made over the years. I have been a long time viewer.

You mentioned how your wife keeps some non venomous snakes, any chance there can be a Viperkeeper special where your wife shows us her collection?

  • @SuperCuzon Yes, it's possible down the road.

  • Would you recommend an Amazon tree boa as a first snake?

  • @JammyJack1 If you like bleeding a lot.

  • Hi Al - there have been a few spieces that have been found to be poisonous , only one i can remember was the Garter snake , although why anyone in there right mind would want to eat one.....

And i have that same shirt you have on ;)

  • @cmcculloch1 snakes in the genus Rhabdophis have also been found to be poisonous. They retain toxins from the toads that they eat.

  • @22orioles While you are correct, it doesn't really matter. Unless you eat it, it isn't going to effect you.....although Rhabdophis species are up there in venom toxicity.....There's no antivenom for them, so you will need luck on your side to survive a bite.

  • @MintyModF1 Japan produces and A/V for their native species.

  • @viperkeeper I stand corrected.

  • love it man!

still i know most of what you mentioned, i am still fascinated about it :)

  • I love that your wife is so supportive of you and you.

  • Can you explain how your wet bite felt like?Is it true that ones veins burn like hell? Thanks for the video.

  • @TheRantanplan2009 Hit you hand with a hammer ans then plunge it into boiling water.

  • Thanks for sharing you experience in this informative overview... always a big fan of your work

    Cheers

  • I'd you ever get bit by one of your snake and if so which one ?

  • @JnJzation Did you watch the video? Especially if you did, why is this a question that needs to be answered?

I'm just amazed that SOME of the commentors are only interested in negative outcome events. What you have to put up with Al on a weekly basis is truly amazing. Seems that too many of your viewers are subscribed to channels where snakes killing their prey item is a turn on.

  • puuuuh 150 animals,that`s a lot

  • @viperkeeper You should definatly copy and past a short FAQ in all the video descriptions, it would make loads more sense than watching a 45min vid. It would also be helpful if you always put the names of the snakes you see in a particular video in the tags even if its a 'mixed bag', and always put your pet names for them in your description, like "mr brown".

  • Great video - 30:31 really had me laughing!

  • Thank you for making this video. I love your channel.

  • great informative video sir!! but ive noticed you said the word "uh" so much haha

  • Couldn't agree with you more, It drives me nuts when people say reptiles are dumb and only live by instinct.

  • Thank you very much, you answered every question I have had since I first started watching, keep the great videos coming.

  • Great video, Mr. Coritz! I think it would be great to see your lovely wife's non-venomous snake collection someday too. Take care!

  • hey man i just traded my balled python for a red tail boa, they said she bites but she hasn't bitten me onces any i trade the male balled python and it bred with my traders. if you know some one who is selling reticulated pythons i really want one.

  • You have a youtube show.. The stupid questions (and people for that matter..) aren't gonna go anywhere.. Thanks for your uploads though! :D

  • Where do you get your antivenom from?

  • I cant stress more to anyone that says it, THERE ARE NO POISONESS SNAKES! there was actually a study done where they used the word poisoness; You can bet on it that I sent a long lengthy response to that lol

  • 40 minutes well spent

  • Thank you so much for posting this vid. I've been watching your vids for a little over a year and these were all questions that I've always been apprehensive to ask because I knew that you have had to have been asked thousands of times. Great vids! Viper keeper is the man.

  • Very interesting and I've been watching for several years. Good answers and very informative. I have a huge fear of snakes (HUGE,) but I like watching you do your vids your way. I thought for sure the most venomous snake was "the one that just bit you."

  • Hey Al, I have always been very curious about this. Does your insurance company know you keep this many snakes? Since there is always a risk of getting bit would they ever cover it if you did?

  • Best starter snake is a mean nasty Ptyas mucosus. IMO. Get the extreme end of a snake without death. Then move on to venomous.

  • Very nice.. Thank You..

  • I saw a program the said the saw scale viper is the deadliest snake in the world. Small and aggressive it bites shoeless africans on a regular basis. Probability of survival would be good but no immediate access to the antivenom so they end up dead.

  • Thank You Very Much For Answering so Many Questions and Your Oppinion On What You Do ! Love Your Vids.

  • Thanks so much for this info :) I recently started watching a few videos of yours per day and this answers alot of questions I might have had. You have the most impressive collection I have seen thus far

  • how do you tell a boy from girl? viperkeeper?

  • Most of your questions on snakes can be found on the interent. Try using it some time it works ;)

  • I really like your Q&A/Rant videos, Ive said it before and I'll say it again, if more people in the reptile keeping hobby had the same attitude as you we would be in a better place than we are now.

  • like

  • thanks for the info :)

you have 411 videos uploaded. an informative 101 video for the 411th upload hehe nice

  • i love your vids so much keep em coming

  • hey viper keeper i got a question please respong. do green tree python have toxic venom? cause my buddy said they were i said ther not please help me porve him wrong so i can have bragging rights cause he is always bragging about how smart he is

  • @chris4me123 No but their bite hurts like hell!

  • @viperkeeper if u say that there bite hurts like hell it probaly does lol

  • @chris4me123 lmao he isn't very smart if he thinks a green tree python is venomous.

  • @DeathMetal4Ever1 Ya lol I have a green tree python and they are definitely not venomous but they are pretty mean.

  • @chris4me123 tell him to shut up as python aren't venomous.

  • Awesome VK your the best!!

  • Hey first one to view:) Love your vids. Great info and insight
