Jesus, the man is unbelivably gorgeous! What a pity he had to quit so early. I still can't find anyone on ice who would give me the chills like he does. And I doubt I ever will. Brilliant artist & usurpassed fighter. And Tarasova is simply a genius for discovering his talent and making those masterpiece programs I keep watching and watching...
I could watch this performance over and over. I miss how much excitement he (and this rivalry) brought to men's skating. This was the best skating season I had ever seen all around.
I think that Plushenko is better than Yagudin, he won many more competitions, still Aleksei is awesome! We'll miss him as we'll miss Evgeny. Of course we'll never miss the fake Olympic champion of Vancouver.
@annamaria227 You can't just use numbers: Yagudin had to retire due to phisical issues, that's why he won less medals. But when they skated he always won, except for 2001 WC. Yags had alla the package: technical and artistic skills, while Plushenko has just the tecnichal: gorgeous, but just those.

PUSSenko doesn't have ANY genius, and you can't even fuckin' spell so who should take you seriously?. The only competitions that PUSSenko ever wins are in his own BIASED COUNTRY. Yags never won 1 Russian Nationals, and do you know why? Probably not, because you're too stupid to get it. PUSSY is favored in Russia, that's why Yags never won a title. PUSSY also complained in 2002 about the Oly's - he claimed that Yags' psychologist MADE him fall.
The rivalry between Evan and Johnny is a lot like this there civil to each other but you can tell there is that rivalry there. How exciting was the rivalry between Yagudin and Plushenko? it was awesome and it all came down to Salt Lake...wow i wanna see that in Vancouver!!! :D. Between Yagudin and Plushenko, i have always Like Alexei better because his artistry is just spectacular and gorgoues.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! and to have the crowd roaring with his footwork is rare! most of the times, you have the crowd pumping for the jumps, but not the footwork. just goes to show how incredible yagudin is.
I'm not a fan of either Plushenko or Yagudin. But every performance of Yagudin shows his superb artistical quality, musicality, passion, and technical skill, whose totality is beyond comparison.
If he had clean landings on the 4-3-2 and the solo quad, this would have been one of the best technical programs I've seen in terms of difficulty. A triple axel-triple toe, solo triple axel and a triple flip-half loop-triple salchow.
I wasn't alive for the Battle of the Brians in 88', but I have to believe that Yagudin vs. Plushenko is the greatest rivalry figure skating has ever seen. Not only were they so closely matched on the ice, there was the whole coach drama. When you think rivalry, you think Yagudin/Plushenko.
Thanks for uploading this. This was my favourite GPF ever. Alexei is still my favourite skater ever. It's been five years since his retirement and no one has been able to get his artistry and technical skills all together yet. What an artist!
It's a bit extreme... Plushenko was just being something he never tried to be : funny ! And Joubert and Plushenko are great ice skaters. Of course Yagudin is one of the best ! But ice skating is still living without him. Just see how high the level of the world's championship is now !

This was the competition where Plushenko debuted the crummy Moulin Rouge/Cirque du Soleil program, right?

His first 2 jumps were flawed but the rest of the program was good. However, Plushenko's program was far superior.

I miss the quad...they should give more points for it in the new judging system.
No one currently beats Yagudin or Plushenko....I always liked Yagudin a lot more because he skates with such passion and his programs are so epic!!

but it was worth it.
His high level, technics, passion is just amazing.
there is nothing i can put into words for Alexei Yagudin's performances

im srry but plushenko has nothing on yagudin... plushenko has the technical skill but yagudin has the technical AND the artistry.

Yagudin is the best skater that has ever lived. Plushenko is nothing next to him.
Figure skating is lost without Alexei.
I can't even bear to watch men's skating anymore...the only one is joubert..and he was trained by Yagudin...AND...hes a poor imitation.
YAGUDIN FOREVER.
By the way....plushenko is now dressing up as a baby and dancing to britney spears. If you don't believe me take a look at this:
