I find it kind of sad that most people believe Jim continued using til his death. Not so. Jim got clean in the mid to late 70's. He moved to Bolinas, California in the 70's, enrolled in the Methadone program and got clean there and lived there til 80 or so. A report said the doctor told him his heart was ruined from all the years in active addiction and that was the long term effects. While most never read Forced Entries(his 2nd diary), he died clean :) Miss and love you Jim, never got to met ya
