  • Good 80's punk

  • it's kinda funny that he still could make friends after them finding out what happend to the previous ones>>

  • I find it kind of sad that most people believe Jim continued using til his death. Not so. Jim got clean in the mid to late 70's. He moved to Bolinas, California in the 70's, enrolled in the Methadone program and got clean there and lived there til 80 or so. A report said the doctor told him his heart was ruined from all the years in active addiction and that was the long term effects. While most never read Forced Entries(his 2nd diary), he died clean :) Miss and love you Jim, never got to met ya

  • My grear, great grandfather died once.

  • @01SweetJay Would have been more surprising if you'd said he died twice.

  • @gilless429 I'll always thank Jim for turning me on to Raymond Chandler(Amanda). Personally I think he was of a genuis;s nature who strived only to be normal and 'pure'

  • @01SweetJay high five! everyone dies once... if you are looking for sympathy on youtube with a comment like that, you arent gonna get any cos nobody gives a shit! everyone dies once, even you.

  • does anybody know who the chick is singing with him on stage????

  • Nice Riff at 1:33

  • @TIMETODIE99: It's essentially the Johnny B Goode solo. All the guitar essentially comes from it.

  • i like Biohazard's cover of this song. It's like a vulgar heavy rock & roll version.

  • when i was a boy i met i kid named matt, a menace like dennis but slick like a cat, crazy punk rocker with dyed red hair, after he found heroin he just didnt care, OD'ing in a public bathroom is where it ends, now its too late to let him know, he was my best friend. i love you bud... and to everybody that has lost someone when they shouldnt have

  • the female singer with the black or dark brown hair, dark lipstick and the leather/spiked dog-collar is hot as hell. Anyone know her name? I think she's playing guitar as well but am not sure.

  • @crossybhoy ...she's wearing red lipstick and she's absolutely stunning... anyone able to help me out?

  • Jim. I salute you brother may you rest in peace

  • this is one of my ten fav songs!!!

  • This song is just fantastic. I checked it out because some guy said that Florence + the Machine's song Kiss With a Fist is like this with different lyrics. That is not true, but this song is still amazing.

  • What genre is this? I LOVE it!!!

  • @StudebakerBronson It's just some good punk rock n roll

  • R.I.P Jim. I salute you brother.

  • The heroin, homeless VietNam vets, street violence, Studio 54, Pres. Ford to NYC: Drop Dead, Gay Liberation Front, Plato’s Retreat at Broadway and West 73d, Mayor Abe Beame, etc. Jim came from a real place. If he had written this song a few years later it would likely have included all the friends who died from AIDS. It’s about real NY City people who Jim well knew. RIP, Jim.

  • Aces... Lucky enough to see the band live at JB SCOTTS in Albany NY...

  • who is jim? pls say

  • @RightRoundX1 YIKES! LOL!

  • @daygloman whaT?

  • @RightRoundX1 Jim's taking a dirt nap brother!

  • I've lost two friends in the past 3 months and "People who died" has offered me a much needed catharsis this afternoon. Though I'm only finding him now Jim Carroll, is showing me that people live on in memories.

  • One day I saw Jim Caroll in the streets of New York as he ask a dealer to become drugs!!!

    RIP brother!

  • punk is not a fashion statement! IT'S A WAY OF LIFE! Think about houw many freedoms you you lose a day, ythe wake the $%#@ up and do something. If not, sit back and be sheep while the wolves play!

  • Im obsessed with this band..They were such artists!

  • Since when did Leonardo Dicaprio do music videos?

  • @loganator01 Its from the movie "streets of new york" and its about Jim carrolls life, and Leonardo Di caprio play the roll as Jim carroll

  • @loganator01 its from the movie basket ball diaries its about jims life and basicly this song

  • @loganator01 its from the movie basket ball diaries its about jims life and basicly this song GOOD SHIT

  • @loganator01 its scenes from the movie baskettball diaries

  • This song hits me like a runaway freight train everytime I hear it! It brings back memories of how many people I've lost in my almost 41 years on this planet. They will always be alive in my heart and in my most cherished rememberances. It hurts thinking about all the friends and relatives who've"shuffled off this mortal coil". The one memory that kills me whenever I think about it isd the day I fond out my mother had to be taken off life support.

  • ya'..know..kno..we are probably all gonna die 1 of these days .jimmmy gave us somethin' to think about . i am baked as a kite. jim carroll's lyrics on this little ditty are too real for the average human to want think about. some people were never ment to drive a benz or an esc$^%@#$de some folks however, see the world much more clearly, when it is not through the windshield of an automobile .

  • awesome song. Rip to my people who i died. gone but not forgettin i still feel ya.

  • To all friends that died.

  • True in so many ways to a lot of folks stories of life

  • a good song

  • One of my 80's favs. Glad to see it here!

  • those are people who died died

  • This song is dedicated to my brother...love ya Bub

  • This is a sad, great song. I din't know that Jim Carroll died, too. How ironic, as he sings. How did he die?

  • @rockyracune He had a heart attack last year at age 60.

  • @whitetrashoutlaw, that's very sad. There isn't one god damn positive thing to say about illegal drugs. Did heart disease run in his family, or was his heart weakened by drugs? I don't know.

Jim was Catholic. God bless him. I don't think Christ would stand there and say, "Go ahead: Stick that needle in your vein; go ahead take crack - destroy yourself." Christ would not say that, but I know WHAT would offer such blandishments.

  • @rockyracune Christ drank wine regularly. There's plenty of positivities with drugs: your mind is opened; it's expanded you learn from, and about, yourself. They're fun. You can control your mood. LSD can give you religious trips where you see Catholic figures. You learn to empathise with people and to relax - two things you Religious zealots need to learn to do; try Ecstasy.

I'veread all Jims books, am a big fan, knew he disliked Cocaine so how'd you know he 'smoked crack'?

    RIP Jim Carroll.

  • great song

  • i met jim when i was young, part of my insperation for my skateboard art

  • Fucking love this song.

  • I still remember this song from '80...never realized how many movies it showed up in. ET the EXtraterrestrial, Dawn of the Dead and, of course THE BBall Diaries. Jim died too young too...but 60 is better than 14...sweet dreams, Jim

  • I KNEW JIM I WAS OF HIS FRIENDS MICKEY

    such an underrated song

"Hey," Herbie said, "Tony, can you fly?"

But Tony couldn't fly, Tony died

  • true blue

  • Brilliant!!!

  • Rip Jim,but i still think you look like Tim Armstrong the lead singer of Rancid.

  • @tenerifestevo Tim Armstrong looks like Him.

  • Whoa!

  • Bad couple of months for semi-legendary rockers from New York who should have been a lot more popular(at least like Lou Reed)...first Willie De Ville and now Jim Carroll...

People ...look into these 2 guys in particular if you don't know whot they were

for some real music other than the crap they feed us with the top 40 mass-marketed rock n roll...

  • Now Jim is a person who has died.

The Catholic Boy goes full circle.

Thanx for one of the Best LP's, Ever !! As far as I'm concerned.
