the producer were realy creativ, they used electric irons, inverted clock pendulums, washing-machine console parts and designer pencil sharpeners, sewing thread coils and banana plugs and plastic cup for decoration.

Technisch vielleicht nicht mehr auf der Höhe, aber dafür mit Top-Schauspielern und einer Atmosphäre, die von Star Treck und Co. bei weitem nicht erreicht wird!

Technisch hinkt das ganze Star Trek um einiges hinterher.

Angefangen mit der fehlenden Farbe und den schlecht verdeckten Marionettenfäden, an denen die Orion hing oder die beim überblenden vergessenen sichtbaren Füsse des Frog-Darstellers :)))

Oder das Overkill des Asteroiden, wo man bestens die zusammenstürzende Abdeckung eines Rechteckigen nur 2 Meter langen Erdlochs sieht.

Aber Nixdestotrotz: Ich liebe diese Serie. Das hat noch echten Stil

You've got to keep in mind this was a year before Star Trek, and with a much lower budget. I love both shows, and I wish there'd be more of Space Patrol. :)

Fehlende Farbe? Naja, sie ist "latent" vorhanden. Meines Wissens wurde viele Spezialeffekte in Farbe gefilmt, weil man dachte, die Serie irgendwann in farbe fortzusetzen und man dann die Standardtricks (Brausetablettenstartszene usw.) alle schon im Kasten hätte.

Such an amazing series and despite it's age and simpleness still manages to beat the hell out of a lot of modern series.

Makes me want to watch it again...

Blowing up a supernova is EASY !! I do that all the time, just by sitting at home. ( By definition supernovas are exploding stars, so you don't need to do anything !! ). But thanks for the post, april1515 !

I've been watching all these cuts with interest. I live in the US where Star Trek is our best series. Like a typical American I only speak English. I don't care. I watch the German anyway. The Orion 7 and Enterprise crews should get together on Rigel and have a party. They would like each other.

Wish we had this in England, more proof that the Germans are truly a great nation. Franz Beckenbauer, Ralf and Florian, L.V. Beethoven, Raumpatrouille. (We won't mention that bother with old whatsisface.) I'm gonna get the DVD of this. With or without subtitles, it looks fantastic.

It was aired on German channel called SAT.1

It´s even possible to buy it on DVD in Germany,Austria or Switzerland.

originally it was produced by "bavelsberger Filstudios" and aired from ARD (german puplic-law broadcaster). "Sat 1" aired 5 episodes in teh 1990s again. Also teher is a cinema movie from 1990s or 2000s can'nt remember right now. This movie is a cut from all episodes. You can get a tin box with all episodes, the movie, a pullover, the OST and some more stuff.

just buy the dvd in germany and let it be send to you. It´s worth everthing!!!! I´ve got the dvd´s ( every one, the movie and the series ) and it´s great. Okay, I know Orion all my life because my father is a great fan. He was 12, when Orion was made. And he watched it over and over again, so I have seen every episode for about 100 times^^
