I get paid shit loads of money by MSNBC and give it to democratic campaigns and use my job in a multi-national media conglomerate to skew the news in favor of liberal politics, but damn the supreme court for this ruling.
KB has no idea what he's talking about(ever), he knows no history or facts, he has no idea how to RESEARCH things, all he really knows how to do is...'repeat what he's heard' -and what most of his so-called "show" is made-up of....is making fun of FoxNews! Get a clue Olbermann! All you do is make yourself look like an @ss!
Corporations are evil and they care not about you or anybody or the envirement, even though they might try to convince you otherwise, corporations are physcopaths and will lie and con in order to make a profit, it doesn't matter which corporation, all corporations do this, they really don't give a shit about anyone but themselves (atleast the big corporations).
This comment by Olberman is so ludicrously ridiculous as to be laughable. First, corporations are merely groups of people, all this means is that a corporate entity wants to voice an opinion, it may do so openly as opposed to the prior - and perfectly legal - practice of hiring some PR outfit to start a fake "grass roots" astroturfing organization to support whatever message they are interested in promoting. Why is allowing transparent direct commentary worse than using secret front groups?
"Of the people, by the corporations, and for the corporations."
The new Supreme Court decision will allow a corporation to run false attack ads against anyone they wish. That means they can now EXTORT every politician in the U.S. to do whatever they want for profit.
If you think you're getting screwed by health insurance companies, Wall Street, and credit card companies now -- just wait. All consumer protection will be the first to go.
Look up the background for a U..S. Supreme Court case called "Caperton v. A. T. Massey Coal Company" where the company funded a front-group to get a West Virginia justice replaced by one that would vote to overturn a judgment against it. Nothing you're saying was prevented before this decision; organizations that could not do influence directly before simply bought front groups to do by stealth what could not be done publicly.
Because the N.Y. Times or conservative newspapers run an editorial is irrelevant. They DON'T run ATTACK ADS on TV.
Any corporation can now tell legislators they'll be the target of relentless attack ads if they vote AGAINST corporate wishes
Credit card & insurance companies, banks & Wall Street can now dictate to legislators & EXTORT any politician in America. If they object, they're on the HIT LIST. They dont even need to do it, just threaten.
@DefendYourFreedom - Unfortunately, this is the final nail in the coffin for human rights... Why would the brainless US population care? Mentality = "maybe I get better deals because the government is owned by stores, and the government owns me?", "we raped Iraq in 21 days for no reason...". All of those ignorant self-absorbed pacifists are too desensitized to get a fucking clue... they just mock people who see truth because their feeble minds can't handle reality (outside reality TV) anymore...
