Saw this show in L.A. in Feb '80. A furled curtain caught fire in the rafters, which some long-haired doofus decided he could deal with best by OPENING IT. Whoosh! I watched him crazy-dance his way out of the flames, lol. A newspaper-sized sheet of glowing ash then floated down directly onto an unsuspecting Roger as he played, exploding in a finale of orange sparks as he frantically shook his head to save his hair. Some blame pyro, but my belief is that it was caused by contact with a hot light.
I am 69 and not hardly does a day go by I don't listen to Pink Floyd and Frequently Requested by my Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren.
No Generation Gap when it comes to Pink Floyd. There music is timeless and ageless

The music of Pink Floyd resonates with many truth seekers and mind explorers who delve into the unknown. If you are a truth seeker, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click on the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says. Everyone needs to see this. The Present will turn this world right-side up if it reaches enough people. You will see what I mean when you read the first page.
i hate this song so bad i mean like what does it mean by the song about died people or just a stupided song uh tell me now so what is this can anybody tell me nd if its a good reson then the song well be ok and i will tell my school to it uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and dddddddduuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol lmfao
Does anyone there know whether David Gilmour is finger picking in this instrument or just playing the lead melody while someone else is providing the plucking at the back?
Why wont you except video response's from genuine Pink Floyd fans, you have no rights to this song or video.Give someone a uniform and they think they're Hitler all right.Your A JOKE.
I don't know if it's only me, but I've heard a lot of music in my short life, and I think The Wall is one of the best albums of rock music ever made, at least top five if not the best.
@RoberMatts I'll have you know that I am a very (very) young person, and I would have to agree with you. The others are Close to the Edge by Yes, Snow by Spock's Beard, Permanent Waves by Rush, and Abbey Road by the Beatles.
Slightly bittersweet, memories of my paranoid period drips inside my head and I recall not many laughs, just a sad sad sad life as it became harder. I love this song and I love P.F. They`v brought me comfort, true samaritez. Shine on, all of you out there, like the stars you are and will become. As we ride into the shining sun with our backs to the moon .
@cditmer lol yah they were very pscychedelic and slow, i think a led zepplin concert would be more fun, but a pink floyd album has a lot lyrical and musical genuis.
Awesome!! Check our Artist/Virtuoso guitarist MARC ERIC, he played with Vai, Slash, Bruce Kulick, and Billy Cox (Jimi's bass player) . We just posted a new song/video for "Yes I will remember" (an ode to Pink Floyd).. Floyd fans love it! You must get to the guitar solo in the middle!!
@TheLegend313 don't you see, the people who dislike stuff that is obviously good, just do it to get that reaction of ire, or condemnation from you, they live for it. it's kind of a form of invisible trolling! don't give them the satisfaction!
this song used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid...I always pictured someone wandering around in the pitch black after the end of the world
@MongoLloydd - ur name suits u , u truly sound like a MONGO , Gilmour brought Floyd to a whole new level , Floyd wouldn't be half the band they are after all these years if Gilmour hadnt joined , the great sound of Pink Floyd comes from Gilmour's influence since joining .
Yep, we are all out here but we are too shy to vent our angst!!!! So .... happy ... So accepting of the powers-that-be. Oh well. I didn't vote for them ... puke!
Gilmour is my favourite guitarist and musician of all-time.. but yes it is true that he did not play this song on the album because he couldn't play it well enough fingerstyle. I think Ezrin may have played it...
one of my favorite pieces off one of my all-time favorite albums. Love the background vocals kicking in at 2:20. I remembered reading years ago that the version that made it to the album was played (maybe-?) by the co-producer Bob Erzin ; that Gilmour got very frustrated trying to get it 'just right' in the studio and finally gave up. Don't know how true that is...
@lalocallejero putrid pop paraphernalia produced people placidly poised in their own puke, that's who. Or justin beiber fans for short. just had to throw that rib in there ;)
@lalocallejero Exactly....I mean what the fuck goes thru someone's mind when they click dislike? What is there to dislike? The deep emotion, perfectly designed chord progression, or the beautiful guitar work? I dont get it

@MadSound321 Press the B string with your pinky on the 5th fret as the same time you press with your index the same string on the 3rd fret. At the same time too, press the G string with your ring finger at the 5th fret, as the same time you press one fret above the same string (4th fret) with your middle finger. As you do this, pluck first the G string followed by the B.
@Aslongasimhere Then, repeat the same plucking as before, but at this time, instead, lift your pinky and ring finger from the B and the G strings respectively (remember, they where at the 5th fret each). So, your fingers now are the index and the middle pressing the B and the G strings respectively.
@Aslongasimhere Now, the plucking is the same (first the G then the B string, just only once), but at this time, slide the position just before (middle G string 4th fret and index at the B string 3rd fret) two frets above: index at the 1st fret B string and the middle at the G string 2nd fret. To complete the slide, lift these two fingers and play the G string, followed by the B, and then the G again, all without no pressing.
@Aslongasimhere Remember: the first three measures, from all the four I've explained, the plucking (G first, B following) doesn't change - once at the time.
i was obviously born at the worng time, i hate music now all i listen to is floyd and the beatles and maybe some ac/dc here and there

Thats it!

@Aslongasimhere Remember: the first three measures, from all the four I've explained, the plucking (G first, B following) doesn't change - once at the time.
Enjoy.
