  • Great women)

  • What a classy, classy, bunch of women. They were just awesome. Very, very, sexy without being vulgar, indecent, or profane. Today's female artists should take heed.

  • Aw, what's the matter with that buncha cold fish out there in the audience, anyway? What are they, a buncha zombies sittin' around like they wuz at a political convention or somehin'? Don't you boys know good music when it's right there in front'a ya? Do I hafta come out there an' hit youse dumb clucks on the head or somethin' to get ya to appreciate what these three canaries just done for ya? Cheez!

  • what the heck are doing Larry, Moe and Shemp there????

  • In the movie "Ball of Fire' Barbara Stanwyck sings this with Gary Cooper,I have to admit I thought it was just a song made for that movie did not know the Andrew Sisters recorded it. Great post! Does anyone know which came first:their recording or the movie?

  • My parents had this song on a 78 rpm record. It was on the B side, the flip side of the record. Tuxedo Junction was on the A side. At the age 4, I knew this song by heart. Patti Andrews was always the cutup of the group, making funny faces. They were in several Abbott and Costello movies and of course, recorded with Bing Crosby. This is t6he first time I have seen this song done on video.

  • I love how fun they are. I'm not gong to lie-- I hadn't heard of these ladies until I saw a reference of them on Keri Hilson's video, but I'm starting to appreciate their sound :o)

  • I love thier dresses other than the sleeves I think the sleeves look funny but the rest of it is pretty!

  • LOL "Milk It"!

  • Patti is the same age as my Nana.

  • ...great talent....!

  • What's with the dead audience?

  • so funny moves comedian

  • man, old music sooo beats that crap rap "music", post your favorite classic artists from those times people, id like to know, and if i hadnt listened to one or something... mine would be the ink spots, bobby darrin, the andrews sisters, cole porter and billie holiday... :D

  • Got to love how they could dance and sing like that. The Boswell Sisters may have better harmony and may be more intersting musically, but the pep that the Andrews bring to a song is undeniable.

  • lovely..

  • Good heavens! Do they evr look NICE!

    Class act -- unparallelled!

  • Oh WOW!!! I LOVE the Andrew Sisters.

    And hey, guess what????

    They haven't dated AT ALL.

But here's the thing, when you listen to them, see them, they make your heart sing with joy.

I believe Laverne is left. Well, if she watches youtube, I'm sure she'll think that the films and songs they made are going to be remembered for a long time.

God bless you Andrews Sisters, you're well and truly remembered and you have CLASS in abundance.

  • Only Patty is the remaining survivor. Laverne died from cancer in 1968. Maxene died from a heart attack in 1995.

  • @KleverGirl1 wonder how shes doing i mean shes like 100 right?

  • @MrKiraofdarkness Close..Patty born in 1918 makes her 92 today, last known alive and well in california

  • @JannyPanny59 : Laverne passed away many years ago and I believe Patty was the only one left, at least, as of a few years back. Great talent !!!

  • @MrRJDB1969 Laverne passed away in 1967, from cancer. Maxine died in 1995, I think. Patty was still alive the last time I looked her up on google. She is about 92 or 93. God bless all three.....their music was HOT!

  • Sizzlin hot for its time !!

  • or me!

  • me too! If I can get my permit...

  • Patty's so cute!!

  • Yeah, she was by far the hottest of the three, but, the three were dynamite together, when singing in that 3 part harmony

  • Oh I agree, I still prefer them together than solo!

  • laverne, maxene, patty, the ritz brothers are all great actors! rhumboogie is exelent! exelent! where can i buy the dvd argentine nights?

  • hehe or me!

  • I love them.

    Thank you.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • downfalls? what? who cares! we sould enjoy whats left, and if its goot things: the better!

  • Brilliant. Danke schön !

  • amazing song, just like every song by them : D

  • omg 69 years ago !

  • Where can I get a dress like that?

  • I love andrews sisters music, and ella fitzgerald too.why is this music forgotten??

  • is it exploiting different cultures or is it popularising different cultures? without the andrews sisters and other acts at the time foreign music may never have been accepted by america.

  • @the1musiclad You forget Carmem Miranda.

  • @the1musiclad Well, the whole "Latin craze" of the 40s was a kind of political propoganda aimed at a policy of friendship with Latin-American countries, many of them had ties with the Nazis (An attempt at winning them over to the Allies side). After the war some of these became infamous for hiding Nazi criminals (Brazil and Argentina in particular). Hollywood and the record industry went along with the USA's "Good Neighbor" policy and it spawned a Latin craze.

  • @Shoknifeman Very true. Also don't forget that many people still wanted to travel. Their only options were north to Canada or south to Central and South America. The rest of the world was off limits.

  • @1961websurfer The whole "Good Neighbor" policy thing gave North America Carmen Miranda, Desi Arnaz, Xavier Cugat and the Disney Cartoon "The Three Caballeros"

  • Are they taking your culture or paying respect to it? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

  • Great tune, but why is nobody clapping at the end? just out of curiosity(yes I know it's from a movie)

  • love the andrew sisters

  • Lovin' the outfits.

    Boy were they great!

    MILK IT!

  • Wunderbar!

  • I adore their dresses! They are so pretty!

I wish I lived in the 1940's, but without the war!

  • You're so right. Without the war the 40s would be the perfect decade :)

  • and without the whole racism and the same women rights as now ;) then it would be perfect...and with some good medicine xD

  • LOL... yes, right...

  • I'd prefer the 20s myself but the 40s were great too but when people look back into the past they tend to forget the downfalls.

  • GREAT CLIP! I never saw this one before. Thanks for sharing.

  • They are so cute! Especially the one in the middle! I am addicted to this song!

  • Its a killa i love it !!! They are so cute and the music is just off the charts amazing what a harmony what a sound what girls YOU GO SISTERS!!!!!

  • I so love them! This is one of my favorite tunes! They ARE THE STUFF!

  • I love the part at 0:45 =D

They are so fantastic and beautiful.

  • I absolutely love the Andrews Sisters! Their preformce was so great, they had raw talent. None of this voice enhancer crap you get today.

  • hoorah for tha andrews sistas :D they are ledgeeee

  • Thanks for sharing this one. Not heard it for about 25 years. Totally forgot about this one. Great song.

  • too bad this clip wasn't in color!

  • love them it more of mother time era buti still love them

  • IT'S A KILLER

  • Happy birthday patty andrews 2-16- of this year.Love the andrew sisters.

  • I wish i was born in this era, but i'm only 15. Darn. Oh well, I love thier music

  • Yeah, me to, Im 14.

  • When I see this stuff, its the only time I wish I were 20 years older. They Rock..

  • I hear they were inspired by the Boswell Sisters. They were really popular from 1930-1936 and were also a three sister act.

  • love those out fits! gotta love yesteryear.

  • Oh i would do the same:D ,music round then was so nice!!:D

  • man oh man such a shame i cant live in that age, if i ever get a timemachine i know exactly what coordinates im gonna put.

  • Me too! My home is out in the country and was built in the 40's and iv restored it and filled it with all kinds of stuff from then, and sometimes if you crank the record player up loud enough its almost like being in 1943!

  • I love their music a lot. and i was born in "69.

  • I LOVE their music too, and i was born in 1990! Class never dies!

  • wow, lilcuteactor, it's so nice to know that I can find young people like you with such a sense of good taste in music. I'm from South America, and even though I'm older than you, (born in 1966) the Andrews Sisters era had already passed when I was your age. But I grew up watching Abbott & Costello films on TV and all that remained clearly in my memory, making me feel as if I had been born in the thirties. My home is also full of objects from those years!!!!

  • I like them so much, because theres NOTHING else like them, I mean through out the 20's 60's there were sister Acts like "The Chordetts" and "The Mcquire Sisters" But They dont even come close. At least we have what they left behind for us!

  • I was born in the 70's and always had a thing for the Andrew Sisters and I am from Hawaii. They are international and timeless!

  • Wonderful......I grew up on this stuff

  • This is one of my favorite songs of theirs. Those harmonies are very difficult to begin with, let alone while dancing! There are so few motion clips of them performing that I just eat it up when I find one! Thanks!

  • this was prob lipsynced ??? Graet video !!!!

  • i don't think it was lip synced, i think that when they spliced the audio reel with the film, it went out of sync. i'm not 100% sure though....

  • This was their first film and Maxene was so shocked by the way they looked on the screen that she cried all the way home. Patty, the last surviving member is 90 now. I love the way they look....Greek and Norwegian. Love those "SUSTAS"......Tappin' Toes In Texas!!!

  • there one alive, i grew up with these people when i was very young it would be honor to meet one. all my child actores are gone or extremly old, i fell like im in a foreign country now.

  • Excellent arrangement.

This is one of the few times you will see LaVerne and Maxene in reversed position.

They were a great singing group. Patricia is still alive and I hope in good health.

  • I'm glad you pointed out the switched positions. I don't think that I'd ever have noticed.

Side note: The band was equally HOT! Listen to the horns!

  • I love their dresses. I wish the Sisters were still around.

  • only patty is alive almost 90 sher is

  • only patty is alive almost 90 sher is

  • They rockkkkkk!

  • They were also good dancers.

  • PS...Sunshine, it's pronounced Argen-teen.

  • Hey, Pam here...They weren't crying because it got low ratings...They were really upset because they thought that Universal made them look really bad. In the ensuing years it became a running joke that Universal used the same make-up man on them that they used for Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolfman!!!

  • loved the song and Patty was f***in cute.

  • Music's great ! but those Drapes, I mean that wardrobe !

  • lolz!!! omg thats awful!! poor andrews sisters =-(

  • Go Andrews sisters! and if u insult me, i will tell u off!

  • Yeah, sure do. My mom worked as a crane operator at our local arsenal that made cannons for the war. My aunt made bomber jackets at a sewing factory. So, all the stories I've heard through the years. They are both passed on now so it's like having a peek into what it was like living back then.

  • oooh really, The Andrews sisters were CRYING?? omg!! tell me miriam!! like wat happend!

  • It is not beneath me to apologize. I see so many "kids" on here that slam the older generation, when they don't realize that it is this very music that spawned the stuff they listen to today. I'm sorry for assuming you were one of them with my harsh comments.

  • You can tell, with a name like "dogalicious", this person doesn't have the intelligence to understand any other type of music outside of the top 40 pop or rap genre. Example, just look at the spelling and grammar of his post.

  • maxene was married to Lou Levy, La Verne was married to lou Rogers the 2nd trumpeter after Vic Schoen , vic shoen Married Marion hutton, Betty's sister

  • they didnt cry at the end and they didnt suck.

  • WOW! This is great! Does anyone know the name of the back up band?

  • Looks like "Phil Spitalney and his All Girl Orchestra and Chorus". Normally The Andrews Sisters worked with Vic Schoen who was married to Maxine or Laverne, I don't remember which one.

  • reminds me of holidays with my mum n dad

  • ellie that was their first movie in 1940, although they had been selling records since 1937

  • LaVerne definately had a natural dancing talent.

  • Patty did the lead singing and dancing, in this cut Patty is in the center,Laverne is on your left and Maxine is on your right. Usually Maxine was on your left and Maxine on your right.

  • the song was Rhumboogie, a combination of Rhumba and Boogie, those dresses were Latin American Rhumba dresses

  • they look great, and sound great!

  • the Other main tune in this movie was 'Hit the Road' then came Buck Privates 1941, 'In the Navy' 1941, Hold that Ghost 1942, Private Buckaroo 1943 what's Cookin' 1944

allo but What's Cookin' were in army uniforms

  • the Argentine Government threatened to withdraw their Ambassador over this movie, they were a bunch of Nazi sympathizers anyway, WEW2 was still a full year in the future

  • Watch La Verne's dance steps , always spot on. this was the Andrews Sisters first movie
