    I have two questions and if anyone can help it would be very appreciated.

    I have a mridangam and the gab is falling off.

    Do I need to replace the whole head, or can the gab be replaced?

    Also, what exactly does the wheatpaste on the other end do?

    My teacher moved away before I could ask him why it is applied to the drum.
